Fans of the Silent Hill franchise had to endure years of waiting for the franchise to get picked back up. Fortunately, the wait has ended, and Konami has several projects. We even released a couple into the marketplace, such as Silent Hill The Short Message. But beyond that, there is one major release still in the works that fans are anticipating. I’m referring to Silent Hill 2, a remake of the game that is easily the biggest release for the entire series. But its last showcasing didn’t offer a release date, disappointing fans. 

Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno announced some good news for fans anticipating the Silent Hill 2 remake, stating a release date will be announced soon. There have been a number of rumors surrounding Silent Hill 2, with gamers being given possible release windows of Bloober Team's upcoming classic Konami horror game remake. Many of them have stated that Silent Hill 2 will likely be released sometime this year, which may appear to be the case if Babieno is to be believed.

2023 was a landmark year for horror (check out Wccftech's Best Of here), delivering the super-ambitious Alan Wake 2, a pair of rock-solid remakes in Resident Evil 4 and Dead Space, excellent indies like Amnesia: The Bunker, and more. 2024 may not be quite as strong, but it largely keeps the ball rolling down a similar horrifying path, with a couple of new remakes (The Last of Us Part II Remastered and Silent Hill 2), new entries in fan-favorite series (Alone in the Dark), and some promising indies (Still Wakes the Deep). For fans of the Silent Hill franchise, there’s been a long gap between releases. It’s been a dormant IP for quite some time since Hideo Kojima split ways with Konami. But it was just a couple of years ago now that Konami unveiled that they were bringing Silent Hill back in a big way. Several games were unveiled, as well as some additional side projects like a new feature film from Christophe Gans. You might recall that in 2006, Christophe Gans delivered his take on Silent Hill in a film adaptation. Now he’s back to deliver a new installment if you’re after something outside of the video games. 

Hideo Kojima - the famed video game director behind Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding - has reflected on his own studio’s eighth birthday with some sage advice from Guillermo Del Toro.

The first for the Eddie Murphy-led Netflix sequel has dropped, giving fans a taste of the action-comedy series’ comeback. The fourth film, now titled Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, will be released through the streaming platform in summer 2024.

Hideo Kojima showed up at this year's Game Awards to reveal OD, a new Xbox project in collaboration with Get Out director Jordan Peele. Dead by Daylight's ghastly universe is slowly spinning open with the brand-new interactive horror game The Casting of Frank Stone, developers Behaviour Interactive and Until Dawn creators Supermassive Games revealed in a trailer at The Game Awards 2023.

We haven’t heard much word on the Silent Hill 2 remake lately, particularly regarding a possible release date. Until then, you can get your SH on by downloading this mod for Resident Evil 4, which brings Konami’s world into Capcom’s.

Bloober Team has unexpectedly provided a light update on its upcoming remake of Silent Hill 2, ensuring fans that its development is “progressing smoothly”. You'll just have to wait for Konami to share more details. 

Silent Hill fans have waited for what felt like an eternity for Konami to return the franchise. When Hideo Kojima unveiled that he would revive the IP with Silent Hills, things looked up. However, abruptly, the famed developer parted ways with Konami, and thus, the game project was canceled. Since then, it has been back in waiting, but fortunately, last year, we finally got the grand revival announcement. Konami was going to bring back Silent Hill in a big way with several game projects and even a new movie installment. One of those game projects in the works was a remake of Silent Hill 2. 

Night in the Woods co-creators and married couple Bethany Hockenberry and Scott Benson opened a studio in 2019 called The Glory Society. Its first project was to be a spiritual successor by the name of Revenant Hill. However, the game has now been cancelled due to Benson's "serious health issues".

Update 7/11/2023: Konami has said Best Buy "had the incorrect information" regarding Silent Hill 2 Remake's Pyramid Head origin story.

Bloober Team and Konami's forthcoming Silent Hill 2 remake will feature a playable origin story for Pyramid Head, according to a Best Buy listing. Specifically it says "fan favourite character, Pyramid Head, makes a return along with a special origin story for fans to play through." That's pretty much all she wrote, where the much vaunted "news-reporting" aspect of this news article is concerned. Now to spend several hundred words whining about why this is probably a terrible idea.

Former WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar has joined the board of directors at the online gaming platform company Roblox. The appointment, which was effective as of September 13, will see Kilar joining board chairman and Roblox CEO David Baszucki, as well as lead independent director Anthony P. Mortal Kombat is entering a new era.
