Some of the coolest bits in the Terminator series, and definitely the source of its best video games, are the future war parts. Terminator: Dark Fate - Defiance is an RTS that tries to follow in those robotic footsteps, spinning off of the most recent movie to put you in the boots of a military officer facing down the killer machines in the months after the nukes fall. Unfortunately, trying to combine that future war fantasy with a gritty real-time tactics formula falls short here, largely because the way your units fight and the campaign built around them feel like they were designed for two entirely different games.
Today I'm all about discount deals and democracy manifest. Though discounts on it are scarce (beyond this 17% off one with the code OMEN17), Helldivers 2 still holds my attention like the vice-like pincers of a terminid warrior bug. Why? Because even in a squad of randos, you can experience heroic, heart-in-your-mouth moments like these.
Well, it's the day of days. The much awaited sequel to Remake, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, is launch imminent, and I have the cheapest prices for it. Preloading is available for your midnight play, however, I have just been informed that the embargo for longplays and other VODs is two hours earlier at 10 p.m. AEST. That's good news if you want a bigger sneak peek, possibly via the three non-commentary vids I have in the wings. I'd put gil on the US team having a Let's Play going on too. Will link that when it's live and I'm allowed to.
I'm going to break from tight-fisted tradition by starting my discounts article with something that could not reasonably be considered a thrifty gamer purchase. That said, and despite its $549 price tag, I feel the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Collector's Edition is something most of us would want on our respective radars. If only for drooling purposes, at the very least. I can't wait to play this DLC. Am currently looking for a buyer for a few spare organs of mine, but have hit some T&Cs issues with Facebook Marketplace.
By now, you would have seen the Borderlands movie trailer and scratched your head. Why? Possibly because you don't know if it needs to be thing. Or maybe because you've somehow been gaming with no actual exposure to this phenomenal, 15-year-old looter-shooter franchise. Today, I'm gonna fix that up quick, fast, and in a hurry with an utterly stupid price on a whole shebang Borderlands Collection. You have 850 fewer excuses for not playing it now.
Last week, we asked you to shine a light on gaming best friends using #PSshare #PSBlog. Here are this week’s highlights:
Thank your own personal deity—possibly Fortinbras—it's Friday! Well, by now you've heard that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is quite the sequel. I've been playing it for two weeks and have secretly been trying to tell you all how good it is via a complex system of blinks and winks. That probably didn't translate well into text. Anyway, it's great and worth paying full price for. But why do that when you can do this?
We're well past the midpoint of the week and are now hurtling towards some very important things. Obviously, there's the weekend to consider, but we're also in the vicinity of FFVII Rebirth's review embargo lift. My advice: peruse the amazing deals below, lock in some purchases for Saturday, and then go offline until the 29th. It's gonna be spoiler city soon.
Let me cut right through the preamble and toss you into the deep end of today's bargain bin. If you're a fellow Switch owner, I'd push you right towards the classic mascot price massacre that is Super Mario Odyssey at 52 bucks and Sonic Frontiers for 39. I'm also all about that Bruce Wayne PC sale, despite it also including Rocksteady's underwhelming latest. Honestly, just buy the LEGO Batman Trilogy for 7 clams instead...
Gear up for your first look into the gameplay of the sixth DLC of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, officially named Goku’s Next Journey. The DLC retraces the steps of the last episode of Dragon Ball Z, which takes place ten years after the victory of the Saiyan warriors over Kid Buu at the hands of Goku and Vegeta. In this episode, the Martial Arts World Tournament is the main event, gathering all the earth’s warriors together.
The global smartphone market is finally going to have some more competition as Xiaomi is set to unveil the Xiaomi 14 series in international markets on 25th February, later this month. The star of the show, of course, is going to be the Ultra variant. This time around, the company has decided to cut the Pro variant from the international markets, so we are just going to get the base and Ultra offerings. Now we know a little more about the Ultra variant and its release date.
I have my usual eclectic list of bargain games worth buying today. That said, here's a personal recommendation for you: become a bounty hunter in Huntdown and make a healthy living (by making living unhealthy). In the same side-scrolling, hyper-violent, and co-optastic vein, Broforce is going for cheap, too. Spectacular '80s action movie vibes for both games, much like the reduced RoboCop: Rogue City on offer.
Now that Google has dropped the first Android 15 Developer Preview for Pixel users, a lot of non-Pixel users have started to think if and when they will get access to the latest update. Samsung, being one of the biggest Android manufacturers, comes to mind because the company has a huge portfolio of devices that may be eligible for Android 15. In this article, we are going to list down all the devices that should get the update.
Thank your own personal deity—possibly Tendo, Mountain God—it's Friday! Speaking of towering beings of immense power, we're celebrating the 22nd birthday of PS2 classic Shadow of the Colossus, andwith a bargain 50% off price no less.
So, did you wake up today hoping that there would be an announcement of a Nintendo Direct? If you did, you weren’t alone in that desire or belief. Throughout the last two weeks, fans have heard rumors non-stop about a Direct that was likely to happen this month, and while it started out with “basic rumors,” things slowly started to shift. First, it was supposed to be a “standard Direct,” then it shifted to possibly being a “Partner’s Showcase,” and maybe even a “mini” Direct! After that, release date rumors sprouted out, and several claimed that the Direct would arrive either on Valentine’s Day or the day after. If you can’t tell, neither happened.
Hollow Knight Silksong's devs are still hard at work on the game, which is the only update you're getting for the sequel right now.
If you like spending money, I have heaps of bargain priced things to buy today. However, you might wanna skip all that entirely by simply downloading FlatOut for free on GOG. Why? Because it's the physics-heavy racer where you fender bend with other POS cars (or try to slingshot your driver through the windshield at a giant dartboard). What's not to love there?
There's never been a better time to serve the public trust, protect the innocent, uphold the law, and save some moolah. Yep, RoboCop: Rogue City—the game I'd buy for a dollar—has finally seen a decent double-digit discount. I'm also spying a bunch of Final Fantasy related bargains, chief of which being the free FFVII Rebirth demo. Grab it here, register a save file, and then reap a free Summon reward if you decide to buy the full game.
As a bargain hunter, nothing pleases me more than the continuing slow orbit decay of that Starfield fancy edition. Why? Because I need that watch in my life, but I'm sure not going to pay 500 bucks for the privilege. Personally, my event horizon for a purchase is the $200 off mark. Will it get there before stocks deplete fully? Who knows, fellow space cadets.
In the digital age, where online dating has become increasingly nuanced, a new trend is emerging that prioritizes more than just compatibility in interests or physical attraction. This is signified and the trend is set to be captured by the launch of the new Score dating app, which will debut on Valentine's Day in the United States. And it has already stirred conversation with its unique approach: pairing potential matches based on their credit score!
Apple has been working on its budget iPhone SE 4 handset, which is slated to undergo a major redesign compared to the SE 3. The device has been delayed several times, and we are not certain when it will see daylight. However, details related to the device surface now and then, revealing changes in design and form factor. A sketchy rumor now claims that the iPhone SE 4 will ditch the rumored notch and instead feature the Dynamic Island on display, similar to the iPhone 15 models.
Thank your own personal deity—possibly Minerva—it's Friday! I don't know if you've noticed yet, but we have an unusually busy Q1 this year, thanks to the imminent arrivals of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, Helldivers II, and more. Actually, that last one dropped this morning. I'm only in the early hours yet, and it's already delivering the co-op goods (and Republican Space Rangers comedy) so far. One to keep an eye on.
There's definitely still a benefit to buying physical games, especially when there are deals like this to be found only days before release on new AAA titles like Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (or other new titles like Tekken 8). Suicide Squad is down to just £43.96 from trusted seller The Game Collection via eBay right now, which is over £26 off the RRP.
Today is the day, bargain hunters. It's time to pounce on some "whole shebang" collections that have all entries included. Alternatively, I've also found a bunch of isolated single-shot games that can be ruthlessly picked off for next to nothing. Get amongst it. Show those deals no mercy.
After 300 hours of work and $1,500 spent on assets, a solo indie developer has released a parody trailer of The Day Before that has come to be a cautionary tale of being wary of overpromising marketing.
Hot dawg! If you're doing things right, you've got a three-day weekend on your hands thanks to that extra public holiday. This means a figurative forecast of hours upon hours of gaming in your future and, highly likely, a literal forecast of heatwave conditions on your horizon. Clearly, our time will be best spent indoors, smashing out some of the hottest titles at the lowest prices. I've got plenty of that below...
2024 had a rough start for Japan, beginning with a 7.6 earthquake at 16:10 on New Year's Day in Ishikawa Prefecture. The earthquake did a significant amount of damage and even caused a minor tsunami along the coastline. Less than a month later, Ishikawa Prefecture is still rebuilding and recovering, and now there is something special and easy that anime fans can do to help.
One of the biggest quests in Act 3 of is finding all of Dribbles the Clown’s body parts. The hapless jester was brutally murdered and dismembered by an evil doppelganger, scattering his body parts all across Baldur’s Gate. Players can volunteer to gather seven body parts to reassemble his corpse, and receive a reward from the ringmaster Lucretious.
Thank your own personal deity—possibly Zodiark—it's Friday! You've just about made it through the grind of the working week, so pat yourself on the back. Better yet, reward yourself with some good old-fashioned escapism from the lists below. Because, hey, it's probably gonna be too bloody hot to do anything on the weekend anyway. Staring down the barrel at 36°C+ over here. Awesome.
With The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered almost among us, it's time to relive the bittersweet story of Ellie and Abby. Whether in preparation for the TV show's return, to collect the new trophies, or just for its own sake, Naughty Dog's longest and most ambitious game is definitely worth revisiting.
Even if you've lurked here for not very long, you probably already know I love Lego and co-op-centric games. Obviously, the venn diagram meets perfectly on anything made by TT Games, and there are some cracking discounts on some of their studliest efforts. If you've never played one, grab a few pieces of stock, because I'm sure they're going to click with you.
Billy Mitchell and Twin Galaxies have settled a five year lawsuit over Billy’s high scores.
Not gonna lie, it's a bit of an eclectic shotgunning of deals here today. But hey, sometimes that's how we like to hunt—digging our hands into a big bundle of chaos, like the physical bargain bins of yore. Who even knows what's in there? It could be your next favourite game discounted, an empty Coke bottle, or some random kid's booger deposits. Brick 'n' mortar shopping experience, I do not miss thee much.
If you're still lucky enough to still be holidaying—or you're a forward-thinker planning for the blessed weekend—you're gonna need some gaming fuel. As per always, I've scoured the eshops, online storefronts, and brick 'n' mortars for nothing but the finest wares at whoa-that's-cheap prices. Head sublevel to start saving.
It's business as usual today, bargain hunters—nothing but the cheapest prices on the stuff actually worth caring about. Personally, I'd steer you most strongly towards that Awesome Humble Bundle as there are some cracking titles within. Not many of them are below 9/10 goodness.
Thank your own personal deity—possibly The King of All Cosmos—it's Friday! In case you haven't heard the word, the review embargo for the new Prince of Persia is up, and it's quite good. I had my limits tested in a playthrough on Immortal Difficulty and would heartily recommend it to anybody out for a (2.5D) Soulslike challenge.
Today's the day to swoop down on the "bestest" version of a game you've been discount-stalking from afar. Premium editions, bundles, definitives, whole shebang collections—not many of them have been spared the bargain man's axe. So do get in quick.
Nexon has announced that they will remove PvP from Vindictus on January 23rd. The team shared an update detailing all of the content changes and what to expect.
One thing the Pokémon franchise has that other leading Nintendo titles don’t is a powerful sense of nostalgia. This emotional connection is nurtured via the ability to bring past companions from previous regions to new games – a task requiring live service apps like Pokémon Bank.
Thank your own personal deity—possibly Kaheva the Blacksmith—it's Friday! This is gonna be a short intro because I'm far too busy smashing through review code of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. I'm only three hours in so far, which is about as deep as I was allowed to go during my recent hands-on (and my positive impressions of that experience have not changed, obviously). Anyway... stay safe, save often, and catch you Monday!
If Pokemon GO fans thought the glitter and glitz would end with the New Year’s Event, they’ve got a pleasant surprise coming with the latest in-game event. Niantic has announced a sparkling January Dazzling Dream event featuring fairy-type Pokemon.
Hisuian Typhlosion is set to debut in Pokemon Go with a special Raid Day event. During the event, all Pokemon Go players will have a chance to track down this unique Pokemon and add it to their collection, if they can defeat Hisuian Typhlosion in battle.
Niantic, the development team behind Pokemon Go, has had a difficult 2023 following the announcement they would be capping the number of Remote Raids players could do per day. A new test seems to be aiming to fix Raid access, but players want the removal of the nerf, not a break from it.

Today is all about the continuing deals of "Winter" at places like Fanatical, Green Man Gaming and the various first-party console eshops. I've done my best to filter through the white noise of a thousand odd "deals" to find you the true hidden gold. Business as usual, basically.

Valve offered a peek behind the curtain of Steam’s biggest games of 2023 on Wednesday, revealing which titles dominated the sales charts on PC gaming’s biggest digital platform. Valve also divulged which games Steam users — and Steam Deck owners — played the most this year, with Baldur’s Gate 3, Hogwarts Legacy, Starfield, and Sons of the Forest appearing in multiple top-12 lists.
The boxing day deals continue unabated today, and I've corralled the best of 'em into a no-nonsense list for you. Well, there's a little bit of nonsense in there. Nerf Legends is pushing the envelope on what I'd consider a worthy game purchase. But hey—50 bucks off is 50 bucks off. Buy it for a younger sibling.

Today's a top day for two things: great gaming deals and frosty decorations that don't translate well to our oven-esque hemisphere. I'm pausing my family's Festivus Celebrations early—including this afternoon's Feats of Strength—to hunt discounts for you instead. I've got a great list going that will swell even larger tomorrow, thanks to the usual Boxing Day madness. Be sure to swing back around!

Though it sounds bizarre to say it, some retailers think today is the perfect time to deploy their "boxing day" marked deals. While that wreaks havoc with my everything must be just so OCD, it's kind of awesome too. The EOY shopping experience is going to be way better if I'm not also sporting an egg nog hangover or nursing a Christmas ham food baby. By all means, let's jump the gun every year!
Once Human is an online survival game in a world that even developer Starry Studio truffles to describe as anything but strange. Players are pitted against all sorts of paranormal phenomena, but some fans aren’t sure if it’s multiplayer or not.
'Tis the season for holiday savings on games, as PlayStation has officially kicked off their massive Holiday Sale. The list of digital games included in this sale event is huge (you can check out every title available in the sale in their PlayStation Blog Holiday Sale post). It even features excellent new releases from this year that are well worth picking up, like Alan Wake 2 and even The Game Awards' Game of the Year winner, Baldur's Gate 3, has a slight discount.
If you're a patient one who has been biding their time on a Potterverse purchase, today's the day to end your game purchasing dry spell. It also has to be said that you can bag many a bargain at the fine retro repository that is GOG. Last but not least, it's pretty rare to see a discount this large on the mighty Xbox Series X, so by all means bag yourself the best 'Box MS has ever produced.
Much like the extremely early Black Friday bargains we saw, it seems a few retailers are keen to punch out premature Boxing Day deals. Case in point: the surprising drop on the big-boy version of Meta Quest 2, plus a bunch of sizeable chops on AAA game RRPs. Score 'em while stock levels last.
Fair warning: there's not much time to go before the gift-giving starts in earnest. All's not lost, however, as online stores are still mighty fast at shipping stuff to satisfy the (rapidly closing) window of opportunity you have left. Collected below are some wonderful relationship-saving options. Or just some additional stocking-filler gifts for those of you who are way more proactive and organised than me.
iPhone 15 screen time feature: In an era dominated by digital devices, managing screen time has become crucial for maintaining a healthy balance between our online and offline lives. Our daily screen time has been increasing and has reached drastic levels. Some people are glued to their devices for hours together without breaks. The result is that it causes weak eyesight, headaches, and whatnot. Thankfully Apple iPhone 15 Screen Time feature empowers users to take control of their device usage by offering tools to schedule breaks, set app usage limits, and prioritize essential contacts. So, If you have an iPhone 15, or other eligible devices that can run this feature, it will be easier for you to manage your screen time and that means you will be able to mitigate the deleterious effects of too much screen time on your pricey handset. Follow the steps below to set screen timing on your iPhone 15:
12th Fail is one of Vikrant Massey’s blockbuster hits, released in theaters in October this year. Now, the movie is set to be released on OTT. Directed by Vidhy Vinod Chopra, the film stars Vikrant Massey in the lead role, alongside Medha Shankar, Anant V Joshi, Anshumaan Pushkar, and Priyanshu Chatterjee.
The fierce battle for streaming rights rages on, and it looks like Disney+ has conquered when it comes to acquiring exclusivity on Hideo Kojima’s hotly anticipated documentary. Announced a little while ago – and premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival this summer – Hideo Kojima: Connecting Worlds is scheduled to release globally Spring 2024.

Editor’s Note: Faster than we could publish our early access review, the developer announced it was shutting down and The Day Before was removed from sale . The servers remain up for those who have bought it and not yet refunded, but since our reviewer went to the trouble of playing it, it seems only right that you should get to read what he thought of the experience while it lasted.
Let's not bury the lede at all. With minimal sign-up effort, you can score yourself an own-forever copy of Deathloop on PC today. You just need to make a quick jump through the 30-day free trial hoop to get said 'Loop. Beyond that deal, I'm also seeing a Steam storefront awash with The Game Awards-centric discounts. TL;DR: that means savings on a bunch of past and present AAAs that are cream of the crop experiences.
On December 15th, viewers can stream 2 Days in New York, a romantic comedy film directed by Julie Delpy and starring herself and Chris Rock in a story revolving around a couple, Mingus Robinson and his French girlfriend Marion, who face mayhem when Marion’s parents visit New York. The film is a sequel to 2 Days in Paris, which was also directed by Delpy.
Zombie-based survival MMO The Day Before is out as an Early Access title, and the game’s launch has been met with quite a bit of negativity from its playerbase. At the time of writing, the game is sitting at almost 11,000 player reviews on Steam, with an overall rating of Overwhelmingly Negative.
The Day Before, the open-world MMO zombie game that’s been at the top of Steam’s wishlist charts since developer Fntastic dropped a splashy reveal trailer two years ago, is finally out. But players of The Day Before say the game that launched in early access Thursday isn’t the game they were promised, and are flooding Steam with thousands of negative reviews.
If you're melting in the heat and need something to play in your (hopefully much cooler) game cave, I've got some options. For starters, a few Star Warses are going for cheap, plus the Xbox and PS stores are doing a lot of 75%+ discounts on older gold. Oh, and it's also high time you stocked the hell up on PC-based VR titles, too.
There is one specific decision in that transforms the player’s character, known as Tav, into a cheese wheel – and, curiously, that transformation has occurred over a million times, according to stats shared by the developer Larian Studios. The complexity and depth of the world created for the critically acclaimed RPG allow players to tackle the game in the way they prefer and, in doing so, encounter many well-spread secrets, be they hidden items to optional interactions. One of these interactions sees their humanoid character, regardless of race, class, or subclass, transformed into a sentient wheel of cheese that can roll around.
Sitting at right around 65 hours into developer Owlcat's impressively deep and expansive Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, there are a few things I can proclaim with confidence: One is that this game is absolutely huge – I might only be crossing the halfway mark, based on where I am in its intricate but not too difficult-to-follow story. Another is that this is a glorious glimpse into the 40K universe, highlighting elements of it that often go underexplored and showcasing some of my personal favorite races and organizations. It's not without faults, and I have a lot more to see before I slap a final score on it, but Rogue Trader is already easily becoming my favorite of this studio's ambitious CRPGs so far.
Though the deals are good and I'm genuinely proud of the below lists, today's one of those days where I don't really want to be writing an intro. Frankly, I think my time would be better spent watching the "officially leaked" GTA VI trailer one more time. Y'know, for the the tenth viewing of. Possibly on the slowest playback speed, too, so I can spot yet another mind-blowing detail about this immensely impressive showcase.
