Cyberpunk 2077's first and only story expansion, Phantom Liberty, is fast approaching. For some time, we've known it will launch alongside a version 2.0 patch, adding in some of the new features free of charge. However, we now know exactly what improvements will be exclusive to Phantom Liberty, and it includes some long-requested changes.
While all Cyberpunk 2077 players will have access to the fully revamped perk and skill tree system, the new relic abilities - that fifth option that's been blurred out since launch - will only be available for those with the DLC. Those still on the base game also won't be able to embark on new quests and gigs, with the patch simply focussing on improving, and in some cases, overhauling, what's already there.

This comes from a graphic released by the Cyberpunk 2077 team (as spotted by VGC), setting out exactly what we can expect from both the patch and the expansion. Of course, anyone with Phantom Liberty will have access to both, but those who don't plan on buying the DLC will only have what's detailed on the left-hand side.
The good news is that some of the biggest overhauls - including fixes for issues that have been complained about since launch - are included in the patch. In the free update, you'll get:
However, exclusive to Phantom Liberty, we have:
The graphic also says there will be "much more" than this in Phantom Liberty, so this isn't the exhaustive list of everything we'll get from the DLC. We can also expect some more minor, less noteworthy fixes in the patch.
Apart from the new relic abilities and level cap being expansion-exclusive, it's also worth pointing out that the "endless dynamic events" won't be in the free patch either. Many RPGs have these kind of self-repeating quests, so it wouldn't have been too odd to add these into the base game. However, it could be that they tie into the new Dogtown area, and wouldn't work in vanilla Night City. We'll have to wait and see how they're implemented.
Phantom Liberty goes live on September 26. Both this and the patch are exclusive to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, skipping PS4 and Xbox One.

Cyberpunk 2077 is officially back, everyone. After a rocky launch in 2020 filled with bugs, stability issues, and broken promises from CD Projekt Red, the 2.0 update ahead of the Phantom Liberty expansion has seen Night City’s virtual streets bustling with players, and there’s even a sale for those of you wanting to hang out with Keanu Reeves’ Johnny Silverhand for the first time. Be careful though, he’s got a bit of a foul mouth.
Idris Elba is one of the main stars in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, but what is his character? There’s a lot we know about Idris Elba’s Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty character and a lot that’s being saved for the full release. Here is everything we know about Idris Elba’s character in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.
It has been a rollercoaster ride for Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red's latest open-world action RPG so far. At launch, the game was plagued with so many bugs, glitches, and performance issues that it was almost unplayable, especially on old-generation consoles such as PS4, and Xbox One. While it performed a bit better on newer consoles, the PC was the only platform where players could fully enjoy Night City and its adventures. However, all that is in the past as the developers at CD Projekt Red have been determined to bring it to the level they initially envisioned, with numerous updates that not only fix bugs but also bring new content.
Cyberpunk 2077 is about to get its biggest update yet, and CD Projekt Red has revealed when the huge 2.0 update goes live later today.
The Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty expansion releases next week, but before that, we have Cyberpunk 2077's 2.0 update, a free rework that adds vehicle combat, smarter cops and new skill trees and perks, including the ability to play a sort of Wild Magic hacker and a skillset I can only describe as Big Hammer Go Brrrrrr. CD Projekt tech support have shared region-specific download availability for the update, together with some advice for new and returning Cyberpunk 2077 players taking the plunge. Let's have a look.
Nvidia offers a shiny new coating for an infamous RPG.
Cyberpunk 2077 and I have a troubled history. From its disappointing launch state on console and PC back during its earliest days, I’ve had a hard time really getting into the sprawling RPG, as bugs, glitches and overall performance issues held everything back.
V can certainly attain legend status during the events of , but it looks like the DLC will make it possible for players to become edgerunners in the literal sense of the word. A small detail hidden in new gameplay footage has revealed an exciting connection between in-game Night City and that of the hit anime based in the same dystopian, futuristic world — and it may be able to bring fans closer to their favorite characters than ever before.
CD Projekt Red recommends returning Cyberpunk 2077 players start a brand new save when update 2.0 drops.
