Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty DLC Will Let V Become A Real Edgerunner

In Cyberpunk 2077, there are few problems that can’t be solved with either a bullet, a blade, or a colorfully worded variation of “F you.” In Phantom Liberty, the first and only expansion for the game, developer CD Projekt Red throws a curveball at the player in the form of an optional final mission that channels inspiration from one of the greatest survival-horror games of the eighth console generation.

In a similar vein to base , the main story of the DLC has several major decisions which can drastically change the story, which rewards are obtained, and endings for both the DLC's story and the story of the main game. Out now on PC, the update spans many other technical fixes and improvements, some of them specific to the recently released Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty DLC.

Continuing the trend set by the base game of , the DLC has a variety of side quests and gigs that offer meaningful decisions, which in many cases can significantly effect the quests' narratives and rewards, which happens to be the case with a quest called "." Taking place in Dogtown, a cordoned-off section of Night City controlled by the warlord Kurt Hansen, brings with it a new, espionage-focused main storyline that fits into the story of 's base game, as well as a number of new side activities and NPCs to populate the newly accessibly area.

's latest update changed the game mechanics to make clothing in the game now be purely cosmetic, and the new DLC then stepped up to add some stylish and cool new outfit pieces to take those cosmetics to a new level. In the spy-thriller storyline of the expansion, V gets to explore a new district full of shady characters and black-market vendors, with all new items to sell or loot. Being a temporary secret agent also gives some fun quests that come with their own undercover outfits.

Early in the DLC's main story for, V is faced with a difficult choice without a lot of time to make a well-thought-out decision. As is often the case with much of the game, there are many decisions that have to be handled which can affect other things down the line, and particularly when trying to roleplay it can be hard to know what the right choice is. Dogtown residents Jacob and Taylor may talk tough, but whether they deserve the maximum punishment for their actions is ultimately up to the player to decide.

There are several new characters you can meet in Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty expansion. These notable characters will be working alongside you, or even against you, throughout the narrative, and one of the new characters you can meet is Alex. She was on Solomon Reed’s previous team when they operated with the FIA, and she’s been undercover in Dogtown, working as a bartender.

The story of 's DLC comes down to one pivotal choice: side with Solomon Reed, or Song «Songbird» So Mi? Reed is a Federal Intelligence Agency officer, and Songbird is a Netrunner who serves as President Myers' aide. When the President's helicopter takes a dive in Dogtown, and the President herself is trapped, both of these characters call on the mercenary V for help. However, they have a history, and Reed is convinced that letting Songbird fly is more trouble than it's worth. Reed believes that Songbird's work behind the Blackwall, a defense measure against rogue AI, is dangerous. And he's got the President on his side.

The new DLC for adds a lot of new content to the game, most notable is the addition of an impressive and emotionally charged spy-thriller story that takes players through the Dogtown district. While the new story and NPCs are by far the most obvious things people notice about the DLC, there is much more that increases the value of the game through more subtle features and enhancements. A couple can be easily missed out on, especially if people are trying to rush through the story itself.
