V can certainly attain legend status during the events of , but it looks like the DLC will make it possible for players to become edgerunners in the literal sense of the word. A small detail hidden in new gameplay footage has revealed an exciting connection between in-game Night City and that of the hit anime based in the same dystopian, futuristic world — and it may be able to bring fans closer to their favorite characters than ever before.
A true edgerunner isn't the only new role that V will get to play in the DLC, of course. The upcoming expansion will throw the protagonist head-first into a spy-thriller story full of deception, political power, and ulterior motives; it'll seemingly be up to players to decide who to trust, and what role they'll play. As thrilling as it'll be to work with the likes of NUSA President Rosalind Myers and Dogtown tyrant Kurt Hansen, though, it doesn't necessarily diminish the appeal of becoming a famous solo like David Martinez, working Night City's streets.

Fortunately, fans of the anime are in for a treat, as the DLC includes new perks for players to experiment with. Recently, the YouTube channel offered a sneak peek at some upcoming gameplay, including a glimpse at 's new perks and reworked skill trees. As Reddit user Mr-_-reaper noticed, ' Rebecca can be seen with her iconic shotgun in one new perk's icon, whereas Lucy can be seen wielding her monowire in another. It's hard to tell what these abilities entail just yet, but there's no denying that they're -related, and they may give players the chance to embody the show's beloved characters like never before.
With said perks blurring the lines between game and anime even further, it's certainly not out of the question that could bring about more content in-game. After all, even though it's possible to contact Falco and get David's jacket in , some fans have been eager for more lore and closure. The expansion, though it'll certainly spin its own tale in Night City's web, is a perfect opportunity for CD Projekt Red to sneak in some cheeky new references and Easter eggs.
Regardless of whether the anime's characters get any extra mentions or attention in-game, it looks like players will actually be able to show their love for their favorite mercs in a more exciting, personal way. Indeed, 's revamped perks look promising as they are, but with Rebecca and Lucy making appearances in the new skill trees, it only serves to sweeten the deal for fans.
