Annapurna Animation is developing an adaptation of the video game STRAY, the company announced.

It seems as though Dave the Diver is a big hit with those subscribed to the Extra tier of PlayStation Plus. The Extra tier of PlayStation Plus gives subscribers access to everything that comes with the Essential tier, like the monthly free games, as well as a huge rotating library of select PS4 and PS5 titles, ala Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation now. For the most part, the new PS Plus Extra games are comprised of older titles, but there are times when new games debut on the service.

A Stray animated movie is in development, Annapurna has announced.

Stray is a narrative adventure for PS5 and PS4 in which you play as a cute little cat. Developed by BlueTwelve Studio and published by Annapurna Interactive, this is a linear game in which you explore a futuristic dystopia inhabited by robots, using feline agility to get around and solve puzzles. We really enjoyed the experience, awarding the game an 8/10 in our Stray PS5 review.

From the minute I read the words «roleplaying musical,» I wondered how well musical theater and video games would merge on the latter's home turf. After all, we've seen video games make the jump to the real-world stage a few times in history – Japan's Ace Attorney musicals and The Last Of Us: One Night Live spring to mind. However, a video game taking the form of a Broadway musical is a much rarer affair, and Stray Gods is a perfect example of what makes that adaptation so difficult. A great (if predictable) story, enhanced by some incredible musical performances, is limited by the medium chosen to host it, which creates a fun but imperfect experience.

I expected a decent game. Instead, I received a masterpiece. The music isn't really my thing but it is very well done.

Developer Summerfall Studios has released its musical game Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical. The game is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch, and is priced at $29.99. Check out the launch trailer below.

Composer Austin Wintory has a secret that might surprise you. For years, his work in games like Journey, Assassin's Creed Syndicate, and Aliens Fireteam Elite has consisted of sweeping scores populated with orchestral swings and emotive choirs. You'd be forgiven for thinking his musical passions were strictly inspired by cinematic soundtracks or the symphony.

The most remarkable thing about Stray Gods isn’t that it’s a narrative-based role-playing musical murder mystery. No, it’s that, despite being a narrative-based role-playing musical murder mystery, Stray Gods ends up as a disappointingly tedious experience.

Growing up, musicals were a huge part of my life, from performing Charlie & the Chocolate Factory as an elementary student to co-writing a rendition of Romeo & Juliet as a modern-style musical for the local area. As a huge musical theatre fan, the idea of a musical game in Stray Gods is an exciting idea.

We’ve seen some unusual genre combinations, but Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical immediately caught my eye for being a supernatural murder mystery visual novel musical; as far as I can tell it’s a one-of-a-kind video game, but an idea that we can only hope will become more common because of how boldly bonkers it is. There’s a magical moment when characters – both mortals and the gods of Greek myth – burst into song and you can choose your response, which impacts how your character feels, affects how other people respond, and even changes the lyrics of the tune you’re helping create. Musical battles evolve to a whole new level when you can decide who sings and how they’re expressing their emotions. Inevitably, the initial thrill of choice starts to wear off the more you play, and the story and characters’ predictability make the overall experience fall a little flat, but even so, it has plenty of wonderful art and top-notch voice acting to keep you entertained through it all.

The stage was set for a cow and a witch to fall in love. The stage in question was inside the actors’ minds and alternated between a shoddy, makeshift replication of a Romeo and Juliet backdrop and a glamorous setup ripped straight from Beauty and the Beast. One wrong line could have transformed the budding romance into an unspeakable tragedy, but with the right balance of emotional honesty and empathetic listening, Asterion the Minotaur and Hecate the witch walked away happy.

Onion Games filed a trademark for “Stray Children” on July 25 in Japan, which was made public today.
