Dead Cells was blessed with several excellent animated trailers, each one produced by French animation studio Bobbypills. Now the slick metroidvania is getting a full animated television series from the same folks, and the first trailer is below.

While Grand Theft Auto 6 is launching in Fall 2026, Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto 5 is still selling quite well despite its age. Take-Two Interactive’s fourth quarter fiscal year 2024 earnings report revealed that the latter had sold approximately 200 million units in its lifetime, up from 195 million.

Developer Phoenix Labs has announced that it is cancelling development on all titles at the studio aside from Dauntless and Fae Farm. The studio took to LinkedIn to make the announcement, where it revealed that it is being reorganised to focus more on its live service titles.

I've clocked up nearly 400 hours playing BioWare's big fantasy RPG Dragon Age: Inquisition, which is not a stat I'm particularly proud of. I'm not ashamed either, partly because, as has been identified by artist Corey Brickley, via the Maw, there's a lot of filler. Brickley has collated a list of suggested mods to slim down Dragon Age: Inquisition from a potentially 80 hours-long epic to a trim 40 hour story-focused romp, which means you might be able to play through it again in time for the launch of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf - which is a direct sequel to Inquisition.

Sony has revealed the lineup of games joining the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog in May. This month's PS Plus offerings are led by Red Dead Redemption 2, the acclaimed action-adventure Western from Rockstar Games. Other games coming to game catalog include co-op shooter Crime Boss: Rockay City, multiplayer first-person shooter Deceive Inc., survival sim Stranded: Alien Dawn and more. The games will be available to PS Plus Extra and Deluxe/Premium tier members as part of Game Catalog starting May 21.

Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising downloadable content character Beatrix will launch on May 23 for $7.99, publisher Cygames and developer Arc System Works announced.

Publisher Spike Chunsoft and developer MAGES. will release romance visual novels The Quintessential Quintuplets: Memories of a Quintessential Summer and The Quintessential Quintuplets: Five Memories Spent With You digitally for PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC via Steam on May 23 in the west for $34.99 each, the companies announced. A “Double Pack” containing both games will also be available for $59.99.

Developer M2 has released Toaplan shoot ’em ups collection Kyukyoku Tiger-Heli: Toaplan Game Garage for PlayStation 4 via PlayStation Store and Switch via Nintendo eShop in North America for $34.99. The downloadable content “Console Ports + Get Star Pack” is also available for $17.99.

Developer Pugstorm’s mining adventure Core Keeper has been going strong in Early Access, and it is en route to releasing in full on August 27, 2024. Epic Games Publishing and developer Aquiris Game Studio have announced that Horizon Chase 2 will be coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on May 30. Alongside the announcement, the game also got a new trailer that you can check out below.

After teasing an upcoming chapter inspired by Dungeons & Dragons, Dead by Daylight has revealed its next killer pulled from the pages of the fantasy pen-and-paper RPG: Vecna, long-running mega-baddie and inspiration for the Stranger Things villain. He’ll be voiced by Critical Role dungeon master Matthew Mercer and haunt a new dungeon map, where you’ll be able to do battle as new elf and bard survivors able to roll a literal d20 when they crack open treasure chests.

Ubisoft has canceled development on the Red Storm Entertainment-developed free-to-play multiplayer survival action game Tom Clancy’s The Division Heartland, the company announced in its latest financial report.

The PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (Steam) versions of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Sweep the Board! will launch on July 16 in North America and Europe, publisher SEGA announced. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions will be available both physically and digitally.

Developer Airship Syndicate’s MMO Wayfinder hasn’t been going at the smoothest pace, and the upcoming Echoes update will be making some big moves to turn its fates around for the better. Post the release of the update on May 31, Wayfinder’s online requirements for play will no longer exist.

Airship Syndicate will soft-release the “Echoes” update for the Early Access version of Wayfinder on PC (Steam) on May 31, which removes the game’s online requirements and turns it into a single-player game with optional cooperative play, followed by a full launch on June 11 coinciding with resumption of the game’s sales at $24.99, the developer announced.

Bungie has released new trailers for Destiny 2: The Final Shape, revealing three new Exotics for each class. These are Mataidoxia, a Warlock chest piece; Gifted Conviction, a Hunter chest piece; and Hazardous Propulsion, a Titan chest piece. Check them out in action below.

Capcom has released a new trailer for the latest set of cosmetic DLCs coming to Street Fighter 6. The DLC will bring with it the third set of DLC outfits, which will be available for Rashid, A.K.I., Ed, and Akuma. The new set of outfits will be coming to Street Fighter 6 on May 22.

Sony president Hiroki Totoki has stated that we will get to learn more about the long-term vision behind Sony Interactive Entertainment later this month. This would indicate that there are likely some new announcements that will be made soon.

Sony has been quite successful with the PS5. According to the Sony’s recent earnings reports, courtesy of analyst Daniel Ahmad, the company sold around 4.5 million units of the PS5 over the last quarter. For a larger picture, around 59.2 million units of the PS5 were sold in totality as of the end of the previous financial year on March 31, 2024.

The Sims 4 is nothing if not a teetering jenga tower of updates and add-ons and DLC packs, and the latter half of 2024 will be no exception for EA's life sim king. Yesterday saw the release of an update to the base game's swimwear, kicking off the updates teased in the recently-revealed new roadmap, Season Of Love. Sony has announced that Jim Ryan’s position as CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment will be taken up jointly by Hermen Hulst and Hideaki Nishino, according to GamesIndustry.biz. The role is being split into two, with Hulst becoming the CEO of the Studio Business Group, while Nishino becomes the CEO of the Platform Business Group.

In its eighth anniversary broadcast for Dead by Daylight, Behaviour Interactive announced two of six upcoming Chapters for the asymmetrical horror. Map-crafting / puzzles / battle RPG KAMiBAKO: Mythology of Cube will launch for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC via Steam on August 29 in Japan for 5,800 yen, publisher and developer Gravity Game Arise announced. Physical editions will be available for PlayStation 5 and Switch for 6,380 yen. The Japanese release will only support the Japanese language. A release date for other territories will be announced at a later time.

While PS5 shipments missed Sony’s forecasted 21 million for fiscal year 2024, Sony had some positive news in its financials regarding PSN users and software sales. It revealed that the PlayStation Network reached 118 million monthly active users as of March 31st, 2024, up a whopping 10 million from the same period of last fiscal year.

As promised and/or threatened, depending on your perspective, open world game Fallout 4 has gotten some new graphics tweaks and bug fixes to smooth out the bumps caused by its previous “next gen update”. The update broke a bunch of mods, delayed a few interesting overhaul projects like Fallout London, and generally made everyone shake their fists at the sky and shout “Howaaaard!” Remember folks: auteur theory unduly credits a single creative for a group effort - the dice that Todd rolls every time he decides whether or not to break the game are also clearly to blame here.

I've played little of legendary survival sim The Long Dark, or The Short Dark, as I guess it has proven for me. I fell off the game after succumbing to my first wolf. But I've sampled enough to know that adding a "Misery Mode" to the game is sort of like upending a bucket of water over a drowning person. More misery in The Long Dark? Oh thank god, that's just what this notoriously easygoing wilderness adventure has been missing. And what's this, developers Hinterland are introducing a new predator, the Cougar, which will move into any area you're fond of and compete over territory. Finally, a bit of friction for what has previously been a stroll in the woods.

Elden Ring is already home to a lot of rotten creatures. Serpent snails that spit at you, ulcerated spirits with bark for skin, a big pair of hands. Now we know of another rotten creature who's going to join the roster when the Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC drops next month: a bloke who's head would make for an excellent lottery draw.

In light of its recently-revealed new mid-term business plans, Square Enix has now confirmed that it has cancelled games that didn’t align with its new strategy. In its latest earnings report (via VGC), the company has confirmed that a number of unannounced titles were cancelled, and that its profits being 70 percent lower than last year were a result of these cancellations.

Worldwide cumulative sales of the Monster Hunter series has surpassed 100 million units, Capcom announced. Monster Hunter Rise has surpassed 15 million units, and expansion Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak has surpassed eight million units.

Following the departure of former Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan, the company announced that Hideaki Nishino will be appointed CEO of the Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Platform Business Group, and Hermen Hulst will be appointed to CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Studio Business Group, effective June 1, 2024. Hiroki Totoki, who is currently serving as interim CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, will serve as chairman of Sony Interactive Entertainment in addition to his role as president, chief operating officer, and chief financial officer of Sony Group Corporation. Nishino and Hulst will report to Totoki, and intend to collaborate closely to strengthen each core business while maximizing synergies at Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Almost 14 years to the day after Rockstar’s cowboy epic Red Dead Redemption released on consoles, and coming up on five years after its sequel beat it to PC, it looks like the original Red Dead might finally get a PC release.

Rockstar Games seems to be working on bringing the original Red Dead Redemption to PC. Spotted by X user Tez2, the files in a recent update of Rockstar’s game launcher contains strings that indicate that Red Dead Redemption is coming to PC.

Developer Visual Concepts and publisher 2K Sports have announced that CM Punk will be coming to WWE 2K24. Punk will be part of the ECW Punk pack, and will be available in the game on May 15. Check out the trailer below.

With Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance out next month for all platforms, Atlus has announced that the original Shin Megami Tensei 5 will be delisted from the Nintendo eShop on June 13th. It will be unavailable to purchase alongside all its DLC and the Digital Deluxe Edition.

God of War Ragnarok will reportedly be the next first-party PlayStation game to be ported to PC. The acclaimed action-adventure title from Sony-owned Santa Monica Studio could be announced early as later this month. Sony has already released its exclusive title Horizon Forbidden West on PC this year and is set to launch the PC port of Ghost of Tsushima on May 16. God of War Ragnarok was released in 2022 for PS4 and PS5, with a DLC launching in 2023.

In its latest earnings report, Sega parent company Sega Sammy has revealed that the Persona franchise has sold 5.06 million copies throughout the last financial year. The sales figure, which accounts for FY 2023 (April 2023 to March 2024), includes both digital as well as physical copies of Persona titles.

Samurai action-adventure Ghost Of Tsushima Director's Cut is due to launch on PC this coming Thursday, May 16th - but it'll be available on Steam in nearly 180 fewer countries than expected. That's because its online features will require players to sign-in to a PSN account, and PSN accounts are not available in those countries. This is effectively the same issue that recently enraged Helldivers 2 players.

Having brought the likes of Resident Evil’s Nemesis, Silent Hill’s Pyramid Head, Stranger Things' Demogorgon and Alien’s Xenomorph to its one-versus-many game of deadly hide-and-seek, Dead by Daylight is digging back into the vaults for its next classic killer. This time, it’s not horror video games or scary movies serving as inspiration for DBD’s next chapter, but 50-year-old tabletop fantasy RPG Dungeons & Dragons.

What is it Wendy Cope wrote? “Bloody Fallout 4 patches are like bloody buses. You wait half a decade for one, and as soon as that one breaks everything, Bethesda releases another just days later.” Yeah, pretty sure that’s it. Anyway, Fallout 4 will get another patch for the near decade-old game next week, presumably to help fix a lot of the problems its long-awaited “next-gen update” introduced two weeks ago.

The latest round of GSD game sales data has just released, and we have a surprising revelation for this month. Bethesda’s Fallout 4 which originally released in 2015 saw a sudden spike in sales, and that too to the point that it has topped sales charts for the month of April 2024 in the UK region. Sony has revealed the stats for its most downloaded games for the month of April. Going by the stats on the PlayStation Blog, on the PS5 side of things, Sea of Thieves topped the charts in EU, while Helldivers 2 led the way in US and Canada. The PS4, on the other hand, was dominated by Fallout 4 in both regions.

Since Microsoft’s shuttering of developer Tango Gameworks, angry fans of the studio’s work have taken to bombarding the Steam listings for Hi-Fi Rush, Ghostwire: Tokyo and The Evil Within and its sequel with reviews. Interestingly, while movements among fanbases like this typically opt to go with negative reviews, the Steam reviews for these games are incredibly positive.
