Over the last couple of years, ASUS has really stepped up its game when it comes to its gaming keyboards. Since last year, it has released two veritable bangers: the ROG Azoth and the ROG Strix Scope II 96. Both dramatically exceeded expectations, expertly walking the line between enthusiast keyboards and gaming keyboards. The ROG Falchion RX is a different beast, embracing a compact form factor and a low-profile design. But despite its differences, it also embraces the same enthusiasts and excellent performance that made those other keyboards so appealing. At $170, it's definitely on the expensive side and won’t be for everyone, but if you’re a fan of compact keys or are already in the ROG ecosystem, it’s worth a closer look. 

In May of last year, I reviewed the Lofree Flow and concluded that it was one of, if not the very best, low profile keyboard you could buy in sound and feel. That still stands today, nearly a year later, but a new challenger has entered: the Lofree Edge.

The IQUNIX SUPER line-up has been one of the most pleasant surprises in the world of custom mechanical keyboards over the last year. While it won’t top the likes of the Razer Huntsman V2 Analog in ease of programming, its mix of price and performance are a winning combination.

It’s also a one-stop-shop for instant thock, so if sound enhancement is what you’re after, look no further.

Angry Miao has existed at the intersection of art and mechanical keyboards since its inception. Its hallmark product is the Cyberboard and it has gone through multiple iterations over the years. In fact, we’ve reviewed it here in the past and were impressed at its uniqueness and innovation. 

The Keysme Mars 03 is one of the most unique mechanical keyboards I’ve ever seen. Themed after space exploration, its appearance is equal parts spaceship and custom mechanical keyboard. With a fully aluminum chassis and some of the best attention to detail I’ve encountered, there’s nothing else like it. It also offers a great typing and gaming experience thanks to its smart design, pre-lubed switches, and tri-mode wireless connectivity. At $330, it’s middle of the road for custom keyboard pricing but is more than a little original. 

It’s a week of unique keyboards here at MMORPG and we have another for you today! The Epomaker Brick 87 allows you to build on it with LEGOs to make it truly unique. It also offers hot-swappable switches, smooth switches, and tri-mode wireless connectivity for an enhanced typing and gaming experience. It has some areas for improvement but is a decent option for LEGO fans.

The Cooler Master MK770 is the first keyboard we’ve reviewed in some time from the brand and it seems that it has something to prove. Like Razer, Corsair, and ASUS, the MK770 is Cooler Master’s custom-inspired gaming keyboard, complete with sound dampening silicone, gasket mounting, and pre-lubing. It easily offers the best out-of-the-box typing experience of any Cooler Master keyboard to date, and is competitively priced at only $119.99, but misses the mark in a number of ways.

When NZXT launched their new line of peripherals two years ago, I was conflicted. The LIFT mouse did a great job marrying that classy NZXT aesthetic while being both comfortable to use and functional. But for the FUNCTION keyboard… I had a few more critical words for it. Don’t misread that though: there was still a lot that I liked about the FUNCTION, but there were a few missteps along the way.

Corsair’s K65 Series Keyboards have always been about high performance in a compact size. For the original K65, Corsair took a full-sized 104-key gaming keyboard, tossed out the 10-key pad, and then chopped off as much of the case as possible. Gamers are now screaming for even more compact options, and Corsair is answering the call with a new keyboard option — the K65 Plus Wireless 75% Keyboard. A marriage of gaming aesthetics and custom keyboard features, the K65 Plus Wireless may just be the perfect choice for the gamer on the go. It works pretty darn well for living-room gaming, too.

Epomaker is no stranger to partnerships, and the Epomaker x Feker Galaxy 80 may just its best yet. Even more than that, it may wind up being the best budget tenkeyless mechanical keyboard of the year — and it’s not even March yet. With a fully aluminum design, tri-mode wireless connectivity, a custom keyboard sound and feel, and a crazily cheap $105.99 price tag, it’s hard to imagine how it could really be much better. 

Arbiter Studios is a new company but aims to land with a splash with its new magnetic keyboard the Polar 65. This keyboard uses a compact layout designed to maximize mouse space  while offering magnetic switches for enhanced responsiveness and rapid trigger capability.  At $150, it is relatively expensive compared to other 65% keyboards, but is well built, well tuned, and performs quite well.

The mechanical keyboard market is more competitive by the day, but we’ve found what may just be the best value pick under $100. The WOBKEY Rainy 75 offers a fully aluminum case, gasket mounting, Foams, and other features usually reserved for much more expensive keyboards. It sounds and feels far better than a $99 has a right to and is one of the best values in keyboards right now. Read on to find out just what makes it so special. 

The Epomaker x Leobog Hi75 is a color compact keyboard aimed at improving your gaming experience. It comes in at less than $100 ($99 with an instant $10 off coupon as of this writing) and features a full aluminum case, doubleshot keycaps, name brand switches, and masses of pre-applied mods. Aftermarket keycaps are one of the best and easiest ways to customize your mechanical keyboard, but there’s a problem: though there are lots of sets to choose from, when you’re buying low-cost keycaps on Amazon, quality issues run rampant. Warped space bars; funky, oddly spaced legends, colors that look ever-so-slightly and maddeningly off. Every purchase feels like a roll of the dice: you might get a good set but you may be stuck returning it with days of wasted time behind you.

It’s back with its latest entry, the Relic 80, a tenkeyless keyboard with the company’s most tame design yet, but a renewed focus on sound. Nuphy has been on a roll this year, releasing new products and updates to its existing line-up. Last month, we looked at the Air96 V2 , its compact full-size low-profile flagship and today we’re going the opposite direction: it’s smallest keyboard of all. The Nuphy Air60 V2 is tiny, measuring less than a foot across, and is made to sit directly atop the keyboard on your laptop and provide you an instant upgrade no matter what you may currently be using in an especially portable form factor. It was only last August when we first looked at the Melgeek Modern97 ( review here ), but the company is back again with two new colors to spice up the line-up, Slate and Nappa. We took Slate for a test drive and are here to share our thoughts on this killer wireless keyboard, but we won’t waste any time: for gaming and typing, this is an excellent, affordable option that offers a great typing experience, powerful software, and solid build quality. The Nuphy Air75 was one of our all-time favorite low-profile keyboards, but the company isn’t content to rest on its laurels. It’s back with V2 versions of its different keyboards and today, we’re looking at the Air96 V2, a compact full-size low profile mechanical keyboard. It features an improved sound and feel, brighter RGB, better battery life, deeper programming, faster wireless, and more. IQUNIX has been on a run this year with its brand new line of SUPER custom mechanical keyboards. We’ve looked at two of these so far with the ZONEX 75 and the 1+1 , both of which were two of the most unique mechanical keyboards we’ve reviewed so far. The JRIS65 and JRIS75 swept the hobby as some of the best value releases in mechanical keyboards with their great sound, feel, aesthetic design, and especially price. The JRIS80 is back to do it again in a friendly TKL form factor with some improvements of its own. Building on the success of the ProjectD Outlaw65 , Ducky is releasing the second keyboard in the ProjectD line-up: the Tinker65. It’s a cute mechanical keyboard with a ton of potential to transform into one of the most unique keyboards you’ll find at its price range. Most importantly, it has the satisfying sound and soft typing feel that the best gasket mount keyboards offer, in addition to tri-mode wireless for high-speed, wire-free gaming. Starting at only $79.99, it’s a high value keyboard kit that makes for a great onramp to the custom mechanical keyboard hobby.

The Angry Miao AFA is back! We originally reviewed this keyboard back in 2022 but it’s making its return journey with brand new pop-culture inspired designs, a refined build, and a faster disassembly process. Complete with adjustable leaf springs, switches, keycaps, and a design that borders on artwork, this is a custom keyboard you won’t want to miss. 

Drop, now owned by Corsair, just announced its latest custom mechanical keyboard, the CSTM80. I’ve been testing it for the better part of two weeks to see exactly what it has to offer in comparison to Drop’s other keyboards and the wider keyboard market. As you might have guessed from the name, customization is the name of the game, including a configurable typing experience, magnetically swappable cases, full programmability, and more for only $99 barebones or $149 for the fully built kit.

The xScreen for Xbox Series S , from developer Upspec Gaming, has been making waves in the world of peripherals for the last few months. Initially a Kickstarter idea from Australian-based startup Upspec Gaming, the xScreen aims to take portable console gaming to a whole new level. This 11.6” display boasts the thinnest and least invasive screen solution for the Xbox, all while maintaining full HD (1080p) support.

When it comes to affordable mechanical keyboards, few companies do it better than Epomaker. As both a storefront and a manufacturer, they have a wide array of keyboards available across just about every price point and have the resources to release new models that respond to user feedback regularly. That’s exactly the case with the Shadow-X, a FRL (function row-less) TKL keyboard with an OLED screen and tri-mode wireless for cable-free gaming. 

A Corsair Scimitar RGB Mouse was my go-to daily driver before I got caught up in the ultralight mouse trend. I used it for MMOs and RPGs, and I even used it for shooters and other genres. It also features genuine Cherry switches and a simple white backlight for typing and gaming in the dark. At $199, it’s expensive but will be a great match for users interested in trading RGB backlighting for a more elegant design, dedicated media controls, and extra connectivity options.

Meletrix has been on a tear over the last two years, essentially kicking off our current era of affordable-yet-excellent custom mechanical keyboards and propelling us forward with killer releases like the Zoom65 V2 and Zoom75 . Until recently, if you’re a fan of number pads on your keyboards, the custom keyboard hobby has mostly left you out in the cold. Meletrix is officially ready to reveal its answer to the Numpad faithful with the Zoom98: a compact full-size keyboard kit that has instantly become one of the best options on the market for price and performance — especially if you’re a gamer.

Keychron has been on a roll over the last year, making the custom keyboard hobby more accessible than ever. Its Q-series has brought full-aluminum, enthusiast-grade keyboards into the mainstream and its V-series dropped prices further by swapping out aluminum for more traditional plastic cases. The company just launched its gaming brand, Lemokey, and with it the L3, its first, tri-mode wireless gaming keyboard. It brings through many of the features of the Q-series with a fresh design, dedicated macro buttons, and fast 2.4GHz wireless. 

Magnetic switches look like they might just be the new big trend in gaming keyboards. Wooting was one of the first brands to offer glassy, magnetic switches in its keyboards and it still one of the most popular today with its Wooting 60HE, but Steelseries, Corsair, and now Akko are official on the Hall Effect train as well. The competition is hot!

YUNZII has been making affordable mechanical keyboards for several years. Featuring accessible yet eye-catching designs, its keyboards aim to balance price with performance and lower the barrier to entry for newcomers to the hobby or gamers looking to upgrade their setup. We’ve spent the last several weeks testing the KZZI Z98 wireless mechanical keyboard and the AL71, an aluminum kit designed as an on-ramp to the custom keyboards hobby. With prices of $109.99 and $99.99 respectively (slightly more on Amazon), these keyboards are well priced and anything but budget. 

The Black Diamond 75 is the debut keyboard from Dry Studio, a brand new keyboard brand spun off from Angry Miao . The connections are clear, but the Black Diamond 75 is a wholly unique keyboard. Taking inspiration from the Lamborghini Aventador Mansory Carbonado, a carbon fiber super car, it features a design that’s luxurious without being exorbitant and offers an excellent typing and gaming experience. Designed for esports, it features 2.4GHz wireless with a 2ms scan rate, ensuring instantaneous responses, and ultra fast switches. Launching to IndieGoGo starting at $204, it’s an impressive keyboard that competes with gaming and custom keyboards alike.

It’s not everyday a major keyboard brand steps into the hobbyist space, but that’s exactly what Ducky has done with the new Outlaw65 custom mechanical keyboard kit. Code-named ProjectD, this keyboard debuted at Computex and has been one of our most eagerly anticipated releases since. Retailing for $299, it doesn’t come cheap, but few brands know how to make a great mechanical keyboard like Ducky. It’s a product that’s brimming with potential.

Corsair is no stranger to the headphone game, but the release of the Virtuoso Pro Wired Open Back Gaming/Streaming Headset targets a very specific sector of the market: gamers looking for full, uncompromising audio clarity. As many gamers and streamers look toward the world of pro audio to fill this need – and the choices are plentiful — the Virtuoso Pro Wired Headset serves as Corsair’s introductory course into studio quality sound.

Wind Studio has been making some of the most interesting custom keyboards since its debut. It just announced its latest DIY keyboard kit, the Wind Studio Sin65, blending form and function to create a unique keyboard that stands apart from most other 65-percents on the market today. At $288, it’s on the expensive end, but with its different build options and unique aesthetics, it’s sure to find a dedicated fanbase.

More is better, right? Not always. While MMO gamers may require a big, floaty mouse decked out with as many buttons as the shell can handle, the FPS crowd will scoff at the added weight and resulting fatigue those extra buttons create. Premium peripheral maker Pwnage knows this, and it's gone all-in with its design of the StormBreaker, its latest entry into the ultralight FPS mouse category. From its magnesium alloy shell to its movable sensor, the StormBreaker is designed to provide that extra edge that every competitive gamer seeks. I’ve been hands-on with the StormBreaker for the last couple of weeks, and it’s a lean, mean, FPSing machine. But at what price?

The Razer Viper is back! As one of our most beloved mice for first-person shooters and non-MMO games, we were excited to see it return – but things aren’t exactly as you might expect. The Razer Viper V3 HyperSpeed is as comfortable and responsive as ever and features Razer’s top of the line sensor. It makes some big changes, but at only $69.99, it’s one of the most affordable Viper’s yet.

When looking at the gaming headphone landscape over the past few years Corsair HS80 MAX seems to be a testament to how far headsets have come. Gone are the days of stereo audio, uncomfortable headbands and poor microphones and in their place, a whole new premium breed of gaming headset exists. 

The Monsgeek M1W is a perfect example of Monsgeek’s mission: to make high-quality keyboards more affordable. Coming in at $139.99 fully built or $109.99 as a barebones kit, it features an aluminum case, pre-lubed switches and stabilizers, fast 2.4GHz wireless, layers of sound-dampening foam, and other enthusiast features to deliver a premium, yet firm, typing experience. If you’ve been considering the GMMK Pro or other 75% keyboards, the Monsgeek M1W is definitely worth a closer look.

The K70 MAX magnetic-mechanical keyboard from manufacturer Corsair aims to offer the latest in profile customization. With every key fully customizable down to its actuation point, the K70 MAX offers gamers the ultimate in keyboard management. Powered by Corsair’s in-house iCUE software, the K70 MAX attempts to set a new bar for what to expect from a gaming keyboard. 

The CIDOO V87 is a custom mechanical keyboard in every way except you don’t have to build it yourself. It comes ready to use out of the box but with all the attention to detail you would expect from a hand-built, hand-modded mechanical keyboard. It also sports tri-mode wireless with a fast 2.4GHz dongle, a heavy aluminum case, thick PBT keycaps, pre-lubed switches and stabilizers. The best part? It’s only $150.

The mechanical keyboard hobby is very creative. People are constantly experimenting, whether it’s to achieve zero stabilizer rattle or the most flex possible without going with a plate-less build. Almost every mechanical keyboard company has recently released a gasket-mounted board, which is great for newcomers but boring in my eyes. Today, we have the Wilba.Tech Salvation, a leaf spring 60% mechanical keyboard kit for $350.

The Gamakay LK75 is one of the latest mechanical keyboards from the team at Gamakay, a brand focused on bringing affordable but quality options to gamers and mechanical keyboard fans. It features tri-mode wireless connectivity and features one of the quietest typing experiences we’ve encountered yet. It’s solidly built with a lot of attention to detail when it comes to typing and gaming and even includes a customizable OLED screen built into the volume knob. Unfortunately, its silent switches feel quite mushy, the screen is both dim and glossy, and the keycaps are strangely inspired by Adobe Photoshop — a fact that goes completely unremarked upon anywhere in the keyboard’s marketing. It can be a solid buy if you value quiet keys but at $119.99, it feels pretty expensive for everyone else. 

IQUNIX has quietly been making some of the best premade mechanical keyboards you can buy for years. We’ve looked at quiet a few of them here at MMORPG, so when the company reached out to let us know about its new line of SUPER custom mechanical keyboards, we knew we had to take a look. 

Melgeek impressed us over the last two years. Its Mojo68 was one of the earliest contenders for a prebuilt keyboard that rivaled more expensive customs, and the following year’s Mojo84 came right alongside it as an excellent option. Melgeek just released its latest, and most affordable keyboard yet with the Modern97 , a compact full-size keyboard retailing for only $139, completely built, and supporting 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth with up to eight devices.

It's truly exciting to witness companies branching out into new market segments. Razer has done just that with its new Razer BlackWidow V4 75%, a keyboard inspired by the custom keyboard community and easily the best its ever released. It offers a remarkable set of features, including their new hot-swappable 3-pin Orange Tactile V3 switch, gasket-mounted PCB, and layers of sound-dampening foam. These additions elevate the keyboard to a whole new level and, with any luck, mark the beginning of a whole new era of Razer keyboards.

The original RODE PodMic was one of the best budget XLR mics for streamers, content creators, and average gamers. The PodMic USB takes additional gear out of the equation and opts for a plug-and-play design and adds a suite of vocal effects that make it even better. It doesn’t drop the XLR port either, so it’s ready to grow with you over time. At $199, it’s significantly more expensive but is one of the best choices in sound, and build, quality.

ASUS raised the bar with the Azoth and has done it again. The ROG Strix Scope II 96 is a compact full-size mechanical keyboard with typing and gaming chops to spare. Built with brand new, pre-lubed mechanical switches, layers of sound dampening, high-speed wireless connectivity with mind-blowing battery life, and more, this is one of the best gaming keyboards available today.

Back in May, we first reported on the Lofree Flow Low Profile Mechanical Keyboard, and to our delight, it was the best sounding, best feeling low profile keyboard we have ever used. The company completed its Kickstarter, quadrupling its funding goal by earning $1,646,998 HK (about $211,000 USD). Since then, it’s moved over to IndieGoGo to continue collecting pre-orders ahead of production, and the team sent us the alternate version to the one we tested before so we could try tactile switches. While much is the same, I loved the original enough that the opportunity to try an even more typing-friendly version was something I couldn’t miss.

Monokei, makers of premium mechanical keyboards, has announced a brand new collection inspired by the Jujutsu Kaisen manga and anime.
