A modder has managed to bring The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s Ultrand to the classic Ocarina of Time, and with it the ability to craft basic vehicles. Tears of the Kingdom quickly became one of the most successful Zelda entries in recent memory when it launched on the Nintendo Switch last May, and this was partly due to the massive amount of freedom it gave players in interacting with the open world of Hyrule. 2017’s Breath of the Wild already featured this to some extent, but Tears of the Kingdom took it a step further with the addition of Link’s Ultrahand power.

Corn Kidz 64, a Nintendo 64-inspired 3D indie platformer that originally launched on Steam, is coming to the Nintendo Switch next month. Many gamers are nostalgic for the 3D platformers that were released on the Nintendo 64, such as Super Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie, and Gex: Enter the Gecko. This nostalgia has resulted in indie developers looking to recreate the feel and mechanics of these 3D platforming games, with games like Cavern of Dreams, Celeste 64: Fragments of the Mountain, and Corn Kidz 64.

A crafty Nintendo 64 fan recently built a few custom-made N64 controllers inspired by franchises like Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda. While fans often create custom controllers and share them online, it’s rarer to see people doing so with nostalgic hardware from the 90s like the Nintendo 64.

Switch owners will soon get to experience a major dose of nostalgia when Cavern of Dreams comes to the console on February 29. Originally released last year on Steam, Cavern of Dreams boasts 90s graphics that pay tribute to iconic N64 platformers, like Banjo Kazooie and Super Mario 64, and it will finally get to be experienced on the Switch.

A gamer has recreated Link from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time out of wood, replicating many of the details of the Hero of Time, including his sword and shield. While fan art featuring Ocarina of Time's protagonist is not unusual, carving the character’s likeness out of wood helps this piece stand out.

A new indie Metroidvania called Pseudoregalia has hit Steam to overwhelmingly positive reviews, and it looks like exactly the 3D Castlevania game we should've gotten back in the N64 days.

When I was a kid, trying out different games for my new-fangled N64, I didn’t know what to make of Mischief Makers. Games like Pilotwings 64 were blowing my mind with their explorable 3D worlds, and here was a completely 2D game that didn’t even use the analog stick. Beyond that, though, its aesthetic was like something I had never seen, and nothing about it made any sense to my young mind. I don’t think I made it far during that rental period.
