If Dave the Diver proves anything, it's that one shouldn't make judgements based on appearances. Not only does the loveable lead character exceed the expectations of his cohorts at every turn, but the game itself goes well beyond what it looks like. At a glance, this is a charming adventure about exploring the sea, catching fish, and running a sushi restaurant. It is all that, but it also refuses to settle, constantly evolving the experience in surprising and compelling ways.

Stardew Valley 1.6 landed nearly a month ago, but the follow-up patches are continuing to deliver piles of new content and upgrades. 1.6.4 is now here, and developer Eric 'ConcernedApe' Barone's promise of "some new mining-related stuff" might have undersold what we're getting here.

A brand-new mod for Stardew Valley has been released which makes the fishing minigame much less challenging. By using the mod, Stardew Valley players will be able to skip the hardest part of the minigame, as fish will automatically be caught once they bite the rod.

Black Salt Games and Story Kitchen announced their intention to make a movie based on the 2023 horror indie game hit Dredge.

Dredge, the indie adventure game released in 2023 that paired Lovecraftian horror with video gaming’s ultimate activity, fishing, is being developed as a live-action movie, producers of the adaptation announced Tuesday. Working with Dredge developer Black Salt Games to make the film a reality is production company Story Kitchen, which was co-founded by Sonic the Hedgehog movie producer and dj2 Entertainment founder Dmitri M. Johnson.

In a year packed with rad fishing sims, Dredgewas arguably the best. It came out in March 2023 and filled the wet, eldritch-horror-shaped hole in the year's gaming catalogue — and now, it's going to be a movie. Developer Black Salt Games and media company Story Kitchen are partnering to turn Dredge into a live-action feature film. The project's logline is, «Think The Sixth Sense on the water. A grounded atmospheric cosmic horror blend of HP Lovecraft and Ernest Hemingway.» That's not not a description of Dredge as a video game, so it looks like we're off to a fine start.

You don’t even have to farm; plenty of players spend their days fishing, exploring Stardew Valley’s deep mines, or tending to flocks of sheep. But for all its coziness, Stardew Valley isn’t a casual game. The development of LEGO Fortnite has been fascinating to observe. Ori developer Moon Studios has appeared at Future Game Show to reveal why the team is ditching the Metroidvania genre for a new action RPG. 

Less than a day after its release, Stardew Valley 1.6 update has skyrocketed the game’s popularity. The popular farming simulator shattered the previous record by attracting a staggering 146,159 players.

Developer Bunnyhug has confirmed its slice-of-life fishing RPG Moonglow Bay will finally be making its way to PS5, PS4 next month. It was first released for Xbox consoles and PC in October 2021, but will now launch for Sony consoles two and a half years later on 11th April 2024. Check out the announcement trailer above.

Patch 10.2.6 adds new meta achievements for some of Dragonflight's main factions. These meta-achievements reward players for completing the activities from each faction, and each rewards a new mount.

After a long voyage filled with delays, Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones is finally out. The multiplayer pirate game sailed through troubling waters in order to get to where it is today, but its launch hasn’t been smooth sailing. It’s earned a mixed reaction so far, despite its combat and visuals impressing. Those highlights couldn’t turn the tides of criticism against it, as some reviewers aren’t as impressed with its narrative and repetitive missions.

The fishing update to Lego Fortnite added, you guessed it, the ability to fish once you’ve made yourself a rod. Of course, since fish didn’t exist in the game before this, an entire school of undersea life needed to be created. Every fish you can catch has a different benefit, from restoring a bunch of health when you eat it to giving you some kind of buff. The rarest and most useful fish is certainly the Vendetta Flopper, making it the most coveted catch in the game. While fishing is still heavily dependent on luck, you won’t even have a chance at this fish unless you know where to cast your line.

Technically, all you need to get started fishing in Lego Fortnite is a fishing rod and a body of water. As any great fisherman will tell you, though, the key to catching the rarest fish lies in your bait. The same applies here, but how you go about collecting said bait is a little obscure. The Bait Bucket is essential if you want to taste all the best fish in the game, so here's how to make this big bucket of chum.

No survival game is complete without the ability to fish, which was why it was so odd that Lego Fortnite launched without this option. Thankfully, that has been rectified in an update, and we finally have a use for all those large bodies of water around the world. Games handle fishing in a few ways, but in this case, you just need to get yourself a rod and set up near some water to collect all the fish you can cook and eat. Of course, you can't just find a rod. Being a crafting game, you will need to make your own, and we've got the recipe for you so you can get right to fishing.

Pet lovers, I have some news for you! Neko Atsume 2 is coming to Android and iOS devices this summer! Hit-Point just shared a new website for the upcoming Neko Atsume sequel. Nothing much has been revealed about the game yet, but we’ve been told that it’s going to be overloaded with cuteness.

Lego Fortnite is getting a fishing minigame. With the Gone Fishin’ update, v28.30, Lego Fortnite players will be able to craft a fishing rod and get to catching fishies. Lego Fortnite, for those who don’t know, isn’t really Fortnite at all — it’s a survival crafting game à la Minecraft, but using Lego bricks and minifigs.

Connections is the latest puzzle game from the New York Times. The game tasks you with categorizing a pool of 16 words into four secret (for now) groups by figuring out how the words relate to each other. The puzzle resets every night at midnight and each new puzzle has a varying degree of difficulty. Just like Wordle, you can keep track of your winning streak and compare your scores with friends.

SEGA’s excellent Yakuza series is well-known for its minigames, but Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth looks to seriously expand upon the expectations of fans with an unprecedented number of side-activities and distractions. Chief among them is the inclusion of some fairly famous Model 3 arcade games, including SEGA Bass Fishing, SpikeOut, and Virtua Fighter 3tb. These are brand new ports, and it’s the first time SpikeOut has been playable on console since an iffy Xbox spin-off almost 20 years ago.
