An inventive fishing boat design constructed by a The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player has brought some industrial flair to Hyrule's fishing scene. The contraption won praise from fellowTears of the Kingdom players for its efficiency in gathering much-needed fish for cooking and crafting.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom represents a massive achievement from Nintendo in fully topping the already potent sandbox potential of the previous game, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Much of that is down to the complex and innovative Tears of the Kingdom Ultrahand mechanic, which allows Link to move and freely stick objects together. Coupled with the game's physics simulation and other systems, Ultrahand allows players to construct things ranging from makeshift shelters and crude structures to working mecha and other surprisingly advanced machines.
One such surprisingly advanced machine is the motorized fishing boat constructed by Reddit user PhilfromNewJersey, who shared their creation with the community on the Zelda subreddit. In a clip shared with the community, PhilfromNewJersey demonstrated their fishing boat, which uses an arrangement of Tears of the Kingdom Zonai devices as its core. The boat employs a pair of Zonai Fans, Zonai Shock Emitters, and the Steering Stick attached to three carefully arranged planks. The Shock Emitters lie below the waterline, and when activated, kill any fish the boat passes near. The killed fish then float to the surface and are collected in the boat's funnel-like front end, ready for collection.
Community members praised PhilfromNewJersey's ingenuity, remarking on the design's fundamental similarities to real-life electro-fishing vehicles, which use metal leads to generate electric fields that stun fish and collect them in nets. Some commented that Link has effectively «industrialized» Hyrulian fishing, and jokingly worried that Link would deplete the kingdom's stocks of fish and cause a market crash. Others noted that PhilfromNewJersey's fishing boat was an upgrade from a similar in-game design, the Fishing Trawler obtained via Tears of the Kingdom Yiga Schematics.
One commenter asked if Link needed to use some protection from Shock effects, such as armor or food with Shock Resistance, but PhilfromNewJersey said that Link would be unaffected by the electric fields generated by the Shock Emitters. Thanks to its increased safety, mobility, and utility, the customized fishing boat was deemed to be an improvement on the designs included in the game itself. The Tears of the Kingdom community continues to impress with its creativity and capacity for innovation, even nearly a year after its release.
