Polyphony Digital has revealed what it’s billing as Gran Turismo 7’s “largest” update since the game’s release last year.

Gran Turismo 7 is nearing its second birthday, but Sony and Polyphony Digital are giving the game a bit of a revamp via the new “Spec II” update. This update will add a variety of new content, including 7 vehicles and the new Lake Louise track set in the Canadian Rockies, but it also offers a variety of other features as well, including new challenges, an updated version of the GT Sophy racing AI, and 4-player splitscreen multiplayer on PS5. Gran Turismo 7 is getting its biggest update tomorrow in the form of Spec II (a.k.a update 1.40). The content drop, which is free, adds a new cooperative mode, seven new cars, a fresh track, and more.

When we think of digital gadgets around us that can be a privacy concern, the car is rarely ever in the top 10 of anyone's list. However, a recent Mozilla Foundation study has found that it is not only a privacy concern, but the worst offender of it. The study reviewed 25 car brands and found that every single one of them was collecting more personal information about the users than it needed. Additionally, it also found that 84 percent of them sold the data. Making matters worse, 92 percent of the car brands gave the drivers little control over their own data, meaning users cannot have their data deleted from the company server if they wanted to.

With Forza Motorsport’s October launch getting closer by the day, developer Turn 10 Studios is continuing its rollout of new details on what to expect from the racing sim. After having recently confirmed that players will once again be able to race on the Road American track in the upcoming game, the developer has now also revealed a new batch of cars for its roster.

The latest free update for Gran Turismo 7 will add four new cars to the game, and one of which isn’t conventional. Players will now have the option to purchase a 1958 C1 Chevrolet Corvette, a 2020 Maserati MC20, the Toyota GR Corolla MORIZO Edition ’22, and finally a 2021 Toyota Ambulance Himedic. The Toyota GR Corolla MORIZO Edition will be available for players to sample in Round 7 of the Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup on August 27. It can also be driven in practice mode for testing. Those that do enter this cup and register a time in the Points Ranking will be gifted a car on August 28.

Gran Turismo 7, like its predecessors before it, has kept up a healthy cadence of post-launch support, with new cars, Scapes, courses, and more being added to the game on a near-monthly basis. July has, of course, gone by with no new updates for the racing sim, though we now know whe exactly that next update will be arriving.
