There’s a view amongst some psychologists that boredom is a vital part of a person’s mental wellbeing. Take psychologists James Danckert and John D Eastwood, who in an article in the Guardian propose that “boredom can steer us towards realising our potential and living full, meaningful lives.” Indeed, the suggestion is that, in our tech-soaked culture, we don’t spend enough time being bored. Danckert and Eastwood believe that “boredom has been the push for much creativity, innovation, and growth” in human society. For anyone looking to improve themselves via the benefits of boredom then, I have the ideal solution: play through Harold Halibut. As good as it looks, it is sadly one of the dullest video games I’ve ever experienced.
25 games are set to leave PlayStation Plus next month as part of one of the biggest clearouts of the subscription service.
Over the last decade, Wizards of the Coast has rolled out a series of elaborate campaign books for 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons, each one customized for low-to-mid-level characters. At most, those products have topped out at around level 13, leaving fans to make their own way toward the game’s level 20 cap.
If you’re looking to jump into an adventure where you slash through enemies without the grind, Mobirix has a new game for you. The team has just dropped Devil Knights Idle, a dark fantasy action RPG on Android. By the way, Mobirix has built some other popular sim games, like Spirit Girl Idle, Ghost Hunter Idle and Demon Hunter Idle.
After over a decade of development, the gorgeous stop-motion narrative adventure Harold Halibut has finally arrived. For the most part, the game doesn’t focus that heavily on puzzles and guides you by the hand through its story, but there still are a few parts in the game where you might find yourself a bit lost.
Let's begin with a shining pearl of wisdom—when Pokémon games go 40% off, secure a copy. Why? Because Nintendo AAAs seem to retain their value, and their prices don't often swoop this low. Also, the fact that Brilliant Diamond hasn't seen a similar chop suggests that this could well be an anomaly. Whatever the case, capitalise now.
Quests from the Infinite Staircase, one of the latest adventures for Dungeons & Dragons, has roots (steps?) that lead back to the first editions of the legendary tabletop RPG. If you’d like to explore the origins of this epic anthology, you can currently get a bundle of seven standalone adventures that dive into the lore of The Infinite Staircase at DriveThruRPG and Dungeon Master’s Guild. The Infinite Staircase Classics Bundle is usually priced at $50.93, but this collection of one-shots is currently discounted to $31.99, making this a great opportunity to add some classic adventures to your next campaign.
Starting with the Weekly reset, Blizzard has announced 2x reputation in Plunderstorm until the event ends the week of April 30th.
Hoist the sails and batten the hatches; a Plundersurge begins this week with weekly maintenance!
A fifth season of True Detective is on the way from Night Country creator Issa López – and the filmmaker is keeping it vague when it comes to prior season connections.
It seems like the perfect concept: Dimension 20’s Unsleeping City, an actual play Dungeons & Dragons campaign about the secret magical underbelly of New York City, played live in front of a paying audience at the Big Apple’s hall of halls, Madison Square Garden, for one epic night of adventure — an event dubbed “Gauntlet at the Garden.”
Almost all video games are painstakingly made by human hands, but Harold Halibut takes that idea so literally that you can almost spot the fingerprints of its creators on screen. This colourful, story-driven adventure features meticulously hand-sculpted characters that have been seated in detailed miniature sets, digitally scanned, and brilliantly brought to life in a 12-hour interactive stop-motion movie that we get to star in. Yet, like the oceanic alien world in which it takes place, Harold Halibut is deeper than it first appears. I came for the unconventional art style, but I stayed for the cast of quirky characters and a playful mystery to unravel that features plenty of warmth and humour beneath its striking stop-motion surface.
Harold Halibut Score Details Pros
Blizzard removed the mention of additional character slots to be available with Patch 10.2.7 from their blog post. This likely means this change won't be happening with Timerunning: Pandaria. Originally, Blizzard had mentioned in their announcement that additional character slots would be available with Remix: Mists of Pandaria. As Remix plays on normal realms, players are limited to the existing 60 character limit per WoW account. Thus, if someone is already capped on their character count, they will need to delete a character to play Remix: Mists of Pandaria, as the game mode requires a fresh character. It could be the case that they are still going to implement this change ultimately, as PTR changes happen often, but it is unlikely as the mention has been removed from their announcement blog.
Promotional footage used for the MultiVersus NHL Face-Off match has confirmed that Finn is getting a new skin with his robot arm and Night Sword.
Players begin their Timerunning adventure with a set of basic green gear and may loot other equipment as they go, but can also upgrade their gear using the unique Bronze currency earned through quests and other activities during the Dragonflight Patch 10.2.7 event! Fully upgrading Timerunning items will cost quite a bit of Bronze!

Tales of Kenzera: ZAU, the first game from Surgent Studios, a transmedia studio based in the UK founded by Abubakar Salim, known in the gaming world for being the voice actor of Assassin's Creed Origins main character Bayek, looked like a very special game right from its reveal during last year's The Game Awards show. Inspired by Abubakar Salim's personal journey dealing with the loss of his father, the Metroidvania starring the warrior shaman Zau sees players travel alongside the young man throughout different biomes guided by the God of Death Kalunga to bring back Zau's father to life.

You meet in a tavern, the game master says at the beginning of nearly every campaign. It’s a trope as old as the role-playing genre itself, and for good reason. As owner of Violet Daisy Games, AnnaMaria Phelps, admits, it offers a lot of flexibility. “A tavern [is] a blank canvas,” Phelps said in a recent interview with Polygon. “You can start with a fight, or you can start with a rousing song. But what if you started because you met at a May Day celebration? Or what if you started because a thief robbed everyone, and you’re all chasing him together through a marketplace?”
Yesterday, Ubisoft officially announced that its upcoming Star Wars: Outlaws will be released later this year on August 30th. However, if you want to enjoy this open-world adventure, you will be required to be connected to the internet to simply install it, whether you bought the discs or not.

The past year was the Legend of Zelda series’ moment to shine thanks to the excellent Tears of the Kingdom. Unfortunately, there’s something bittersweet about that: It means we’re likely not getting another Zelda game for a long time. While Switch ports of some classic 3D games have been long-rumored for Switch and we could always get a surprise remake à laLink’s Awakening, Link isn’t currently scheduled to set off on his next journey anytime soon.

The Prince of Persia has gone rogue! No, I don’t mean that he’s married a Hollywood actress, moved to California, and spilled the royal tea in a tell-all interview with Oprah. I mean he’s starring in his first 2D roguelite. Hot off the heels of the series’ excellent return to form in January’s The Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, his sword-swinging highness is stepping away from the Metroidvania structure and into the procedurally generated, live, die, repeat mold of Dead Cells, in The Rogue Prince of Persia. While I’ve only had a very short amount of hands-on time with the upcoming adventure, the early signs suggest that this could well be the second dazzling jewel added to the Prince’s crown in less than the space of a year.

Some of the best adventures released for Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition can be found in Wizards of the Coast’s popular anthologies, including Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel, Keys from the Golden Vault, and my personal favorite, Candlekeep Mysteries. But D&D’s decade-long renaissance has also given us loads of classic adventures revised for new audiences, including the legendary Tomb of Horrors. This summer, fans will be given access to another new set of historic modules called Quests from the Infinite Staircase, which is full to bursting with some of the seminal role-playing game’s weirdest encounters.
Ereban: Shadow Legacy is a throwback to an era of single-player video games that I miss.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is about the journey, not the destination. It’s about exploring routes you’ve never taken before, camping in the wilderness, and having an unexpected run in with a Minotaur. Quests objectives are also left intentionally vague, forcing you to puzzle things out and speak to as many people as you can. If you could just easily fast travel to obvious quest markers you could certainly check them off your list more efficiently, but then you’d miss out entirely on the adventure of getting there.
The Battle Cats is gearing up for another round of virtual idol adventure with the iconic Hatsune Miku. From April 8th until April 22nd, 2024, you get to dive into the 4th rerun of the collab since we got our last taste of it back in March 2021.

The blemishes of beloved video games are sometimes referred to as their “jank.” The term encapsulates things in a game that may be slightly broken or inherently peculiar — aspects that should be detrimental to the experience, but aren’t. Ideally, these broken bits are overshadowed by a game’s superior elements, be they intricate combat systems, rich stories, or unique worlds.
One veteran Bethesda designer really, really likes Dragon's Dogma 2 - in fact, he says that it's the only way that he can get the same feeling his RPGs give to everyone else.
Adventurers can now level from 41 to 50, earn up to 10 additional talent points, brave new encounters in the Sunken Temple (Temple of Atal’Hakkar) as a new 20-player raid dungeon, discover new runes and abilities, and more!
Sonic's influence on the gaming world has been well documented over the years, resulting in many attempts to recreate the 1991 classic's momentum-focused gameplay. In 2014, developer GalaxyTrail released Freedom Planet, an excellent 2D platformer that managed to invoke a similar exhilarating feeling with its emphasis on speedy platforming challenges. With its sequel, Freedom Planet 2, the team has pulled it off yet again, this time with additional gameplay tweaks.
Sand Land, the open world adaptation of Akira Toriyama's standalone manga, has real potential. And honestly, that surprised us, because we had this game (perhaps unfairly) tagged as another somewhat underwhelming Bandai Namco tie-in. But now, having played through several hours of the adventure ourselves, we think this could be one of the publisher's best projects in years.
Sea of Thieves is one of the four Xbox titles heading for new shores with its PS5 port — not only that, it's the first ever PlayStation game from Rare. The seafaring multiplayer game lets you live out all kinds of pirate-themed adventures in its sandbox environment, and we're excited to finally take it for a spin. A big draw for some, though, is the allure of a good Trophy list, and Sea of Thieves is looking to deliver on that front big time.
Pokemon GO has been a big hit since it was released in 2016, and while the game has had some ups and downs – not as many as some – it has remained a very popular choice for many. Not only does this game allow players to collect their favorite Pokemon, but it also helps players get the exercise they really need.

Have you ever played Noodlecake’s Lumino City, the cute puzzle adventure game? It’s been around for quite a while. Then, why am I talking about it? Well, this pretty ‘lit’ game is now up for grabs at just $0.99. Originally priced at $4.99, it’s already garnered over 11.3k reviews on the Play Store since its release in 2017.
One of the best parts of Classic Hardcore was absolutely the hilarious death clips that popped up. Entire channels were able to skyrocket themselves with death compilations alone. One of the most iconic of these was Guzu's hole in one in Sunken Temple at level 52. A perfect storm permanently killing his character by threading the needle into the infamous pit of death. It looks like the Season of Discovery team were watching the same clips we were, and a new NPC, the Unfortunate Adventurer has shown up in our datamining. Looks fairly familiar, doesn't he? While we don't know for sure where this NPC will pop up, I'd say it's a fairly safe bet to assume you can find him in the Sunken Temple raid.
Toybox Inc., the developer of the Millennium Kitchen-produced summer adventure game known as Natsu-Mon! 20th Century Summer Vacation in Japan, filed a trademark for the English title “Natsu-Mon: 20th Century Summer Kid” on March 28 in Japan.
2024 has become a year of equally joyous and tragic significance for fans of Akira Toriyama. Earlier last month, the TV anime adaptation of the late mangaka’s 2000 sci-fi comedy manga Sand Land premiered on streaming, just a few weeks after Toriyama’s passing at the age of 68.
In Eternal Strands, a major part of your adventure will be doing battle with the nine massive bosses that wander freely throughout parts of the world. In my time exploring the magical land of The Enclave, I encountered a handful of these formidable monstrosities, which ranged from a robotic bipedal summoner who used his magical staff to cover the world in fire to a flying dragon who persistently hunted me from the skies above. Continuing our month-long coverage of Eternal Strands as part of IGN First, today we’ll be taking a look at one such oversized baddie: The Ark of the Forge, a hammer-wielding automaton with deep love of smelting puny Weavers into piles of ash.
Even with Sea of Thieves and Skull and Bones out there, the pirate setting for video games still feels woefully underutilized. But now, another game aims to blend the big stakes and dangers on the high-seas conceit with a narrative-driven tactical RPG framework. The upcoming Flint: Treasure of Oblivion looks to bring that pirate fantasy to life in an interesting new way by leaning into the mystique and intrigue of living life on the high seas.
With Sea of Thieves set to launch on PlayStation 5 on April 30, developer Rare has answered a number of questions about how the soon-to-be former Xbox exclusive works on PlayStation.
