Ninja Theory head Dom Matthews has a strange way of describing how he feels about making Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2.
Focus Entertainment is soon to undergo a restructuring that will include changing its name to PulluP Entertainment. In the past, Focus has been known for helping release titles like the popular Plague Tale games, Greedfall, and Vampyr. This won't be the company's first name change, as Focus Entertainment was formerly known as Focus Home Interactive prior to its September 2021 rebrand.
Deck13, the developer of The Surge series and the recently released Atlas Fallen, is going to develop its next major project codenamed Foxtrot using Unreal Engine 5.
Given how packed 2023 was, it’s only natural that some games were going to fall below the radar for many, and as it turns out, Focus Entertainment and Deck13’s action RPG Atlas Fallen turned out to be one of them. It launched for PC and current-gen consoles in August to lukewarm reception, and it seems that’s been reflected in its sales as well.
Ubisoft Bordeaux was formed in 2017, and initially, this was a support team that aided in various game projects. However, it was with Assassin’s Creed Mirage that we saw what the developers could pull off. That project was initially pitched as a DLC for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla before it was given the green light to turn into a full game. However, since that game was released, some fans might have wondered if there were more Assassin’s Creed video games coming from the team. While we don’t know everything the studio might be working on, we at least know there’s a new lead writer attached.
While Starfield does have an exclusive partnership with AMD, this doesn’t mean the Bethesda RPG is totally devoid of official support from the likes of Nvidia and Intel. Those hoping to play on a GeForce graphics card will be delighted to hear that not only is there a Game Ready driver for Starfield, it’s also available right now.
After more than a decade in the development wilderness, Alan Wake 2 is finally (almost) ready for its closeup. So it’s fitting when we visit Helsinki to talk to the team making it that we start in a performance-capture studio. Here, we get to see Ilkka Villi (the face and body of the game’s protagonist) at work, as he makes an appearance on a late-night chat show. Meanwhile, we talk to Matthew Porretta, who supplies Wake’s voice. “This would never be done this way now, right?” Porretta says. “The person who mocaps it would voice it.”
Time was that pretty much nobody would dare to release a game in August, but these days we regularly have developers both big and small looking to get out ahead of the autumn and Christmas rush. This week in particular, there’s Atlas Fallen from Deck13 the makers of The Surge. So how has it fared? Scroll on for our weekly video games round-up.

Atlas Fallen is a new action-adventure from The Surge and Lords of the Fallen creators Deck13, and like a lot of games in the genre, it’s packed with various things you’ll need to collect to upgrade your character. Essence Stones, crafting materials, regular currency to spend at vendors, ect. Most of this stuff actually isn’t too difficult to come by, but there is one resource you’ll always be short of – Essence Dust. This is used to upgrade your armor, Essence Stone capacity, and more, essentially acting as a form of XP, and the game doesn’t make it terribly clear how you should go about getting it. Well, that’s where we come in! If you’re in need of some quick Essence Dust to upgrade your character before a tough challenge, these are the best ways to stock up…
Deck13’s latest action RPG Atlas Fallen is available now on Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. While the developer is typically known for Souls-like titles likeThe Surge, this is an action-adventure title set in a fantasy world full of sand. Check out the launch trailer below.
If you’re coming to Atlas Fallen expecting Deck13 to have continued down the souls-like path of their The Surge series, prepare to be surprised. Atlas Fallen does have some similarities to their previous work – you can target and destroy specific enemy body parts in combat – but is otherwise is a bit of a departure, focused more on spectacular fights against giant monsters with a huge axe than it is on careful, measured combat. It’s more Darksiders than it is Dark Souls, basically, but with weapons that get bigger the longer you use them.

Atlas Fallen is a very ambitious title from developer Deck13. While overall it shares some similarities to their previous title, including Lords of the Fallen and The Surge 2, it’s also their first step away from the Soulslike genre. At its core Atlas Fallen is a third-person action RPG that focuses on speed and fast-paced encounters. While you sometimes encounter groups of smaller enemies, the bulk of your enemies is giant hulking beasts, which quickly becomes a staple of the gameplay.
I keep wanting to love Atlas Fallen. I mean, it’s a delightful Prince of Persia-inspired open-world action RPG with big ideas, big monsters, and even bigger weapons to fight them with, so it’s got that going for it. And I did enjoy myself as I explored each of its four unique zones, which stretch as far as the eye can see and deliver some mouthwatering, if kinda washed out, vistas. After spending about 18 hours with its mix of respectable monster slaying and brisk platforming, I can comfortably say it’s a good time – especially if you bring a friend into its seamless drop-in co-op. At the same time, its C-tier story is so campy and bone-dry – in both writing and character performance – that it’s clear Atlas has fallen a notch or two.

Deck13 Interactive is getting ready to release its next game. You might recognize the development studio from their past works if you don’t recall the development studio by its name. Their last major releases into the marketplace came in the form of 2017’s The Surge and its sequel, 2019’s The Surge 2. For the past few years, the studio has been working on its next release, Atlas Fallen, and if you’re interested in the game, we have new information. Today the download size for the game has emerged online for both Xbox and PlayStation consoles.
Developers DECK13 have released a new trailer for their upcoming fantasy action RPG Atlas Fallen that primarily highlights its combat. And, I have to admit, it looks very impressive! The battles looks fast-paced and reminds me a lot of the combat in Monster Hunter. I’d say maybe even with a mix of God of War thrown in.
Despite launching in less than a month, we haven’t seen too much of Atlas Fallen since it was revealed nearly a year ago. A general overview video released last month gave curious players a primer on what to expect from this world of sand, magic, and monsters. Publisher Focus Entertainment has followed that up with a new gameplay-focused video breaking down the game’s combat.
Atlas Fallen continues to look promising with each new showing, and one of several elements that has caught the eye of many is its high-octane, fast-paced combat, which is looking very different from what we’ve become used to seeing in Deck13’s titles in recent years. In a newly released trailer, the developer has provided further details on what to expect from the action RPG on that front.
Publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Deck13 Interactive have released a five-minute gameplay trailer for fantasy action RPG Atlas Fallen introducing the game’s combat.
We're quietly excited for Atlas Fallen. This upcoming action RPG from Deck13 — creators of The Surge — looks to be shaping up nicely, as evidenced by this latest trailer. It focuses on the combat, which appears to be quite flashy but also fairly deep when you take its various mechanics into consideration.
