Mortal Kombat 1's addition of Quan Chi seemingly confirms that DLC characters won't be getting any additional skins, as was the case for Omni-Man when he launched.

Not only has NetherRealm revealed the release date and gameplay of Quan Chi, it has also given us our best look yet at John Cena's Peacemaker and Khameleon as a Kameo fighter.
Quan Chi is one of the characters that make up Mortal Kombat 1's Kombat Pack, and the legendary sorcerer will become available to those who have purchased the DLC package on December 14. If you just want Quan Chi and don't want to purchase the Kombat Pack, you will be able to unlock him on December 21.
The trailer is a great showcase for Quan Chi, who first appeared in the animated series Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm. His first video game appearance was Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero and he made his playable debut in Mortal Kombat 4.
The gameplay video features Quan Chi using his abilities to conjure portals to the NetherRealm and use them to attack his foes. We also got a glimpse of one of his Fatalities, and it has him summoning large planes of glass and slicing his enemy into many thinner pieces of themselves.
Khameleon is seen throughout the gameplay video as a Kameo fighter with Quan Chi, and her skills are just as impressive as the way she can change colors. Khameleon will become available in January 2024.
The gameplay trailer ends with a great tease as we see Quan Chi getting ready to battle Peacemaker. In the short scene, we get to hear John Cena's voice as the character in Mortal Kombat 1 for the first time as he says, "Not fight, beat senseless" after Quan Chi asks him if he wants to fight him.
Peacemaker is another member of Mortal Kombat 1's Kombat Pack alongside Homelander, Omni-Man, Ermac, and Takahashi Takeda, and he will arrive in February 2024.

Like previous entries in the series, Mortal Kombat 1 is rolling out plenty of DLC fighters, with the game’s first “Kombat Pack” including Omni-Man from Invincible, Quan Chi, Peacemaker from Suicide Squad, Ermac, Homelander from The Boys, and Takahashi Takeda.

Mortal Kombat 1 already has some of the best Fatalities in the series, but it just got a whole lot better thanks to Quan Chi's second grisly finishing move.
Quan-Chi, cross-play, and more this winter.
Quan Chi, the cruel Netherrealm sorcerer and one half of Mortal Kombat’s famous deadly alliance, is now part of the Mortal Kombat 1 roster. He’s available as part of the fighting game’s first Kombat Pack DLC, and is the second post-launch character to join MK1, following Omni-Man.
These days, fighting games live and die based on their online playerbase, and yet, Mortal Kombat 1 did not launch with crossplay support. Thankfully, that will change relatively soon though, as NetherRealm Studios announced in a recent livestream that crossplay between PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5 will be coming in early 2024 (perhaps unsurprisingly, the ill-fated Switch version is left out).
During a recent livestream, developer NetherRealm Studios revealed that it is working on releasing cross-play multiplayer for Mortal Kombat 1 in the coming months. While the studio was unable to develop the feature in time for the game’s launch back in September, it has stated that the feature will be coming to the PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Mortal Kombat 1 in February.
Mortal Kombat 1 returnee Quan Chi will make his debut as the second DLC character added to NetherRealm’s latest before Christmas. The former miner was revealed as part of a gameplay trailer overnight, which you can watch above. In it, you’ll see the face-painted baldie unleashing all sorts of misery on a variety of opponents.

Mortal Kombat 1 launched back in September and became one of our favorite games of the year – read why in Game Informer's Mortal Kombat 1 review here. Since its release, developer NetherRealm Studios has released additional characters, like Invincible's Omni-Man, while teasing other new fighters like Quan Chi and DC's Peacemaker. Now, Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon has teased even more new content on the way.
Antony Starr says he was open to voicing Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1, after it was confirmed that the actor will not be reprising his role for the game's DLC. Responding to a disappointed fan, Starr says, "I was open to it", making his absence in the game all the more baffling.
