Marvel's Spider-Man 2 patch fixes Puerto Rican and Cuban flag mix-up: "We understand that accurate representation matters, and greatly regret this error"

Since its recent launch, Insomniac Games has released a handful of patches for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to iron out lingering bugs and technical issues in the game that players have reported, and the developer has now released another one of those updates, bringing the game up to version 1.001.005.

Insomniac Games has released a new patch for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which addresses several issues. The Upgraded Classic suit, found to have duplicate eye details, is fixed, and the developer has further fixed issues with long play sessions causing models to not load properly.

Mary Jane Watson plays a significant role in , both from a narrative perspective as Peter's girlfriend, but also as a temporarily playable character, and most interestingly as part of one of the game's more surprising twists. MJ was introduced to the Spider-Man canon in 1965; since then she has gone on to become Peter Parker's main love interest and the principal beneficiary of his affection in the franchise's many movies, comics, and video games.

For example, Insomniac Games have been praised for their dedication to the lore of the Spider-Men in their titles and have been equally praised for how they’ve been portrayed. So you can understand why the fans were upset when Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 made an error of rather large proportions.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 hit PlayStation 5 exclusively last week and it's already Sony's fastest-selling first-party game. While we loved the game – read Game Informer's Marvel's Spider-Man 2 here – once players got their hands on the game, some encountered a few bugs and issues, like one where their character model became a small white cube that looks like tofu. Plus, players discovered a Cuban flag was displayed inside and outside the Morales household rather than the expected Puerto Rican flag. A new update for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 out today fixes both of these issues and more. 

Insomniac Games has deployed Spider-Man 2 patch 1.001.003 for PlayStation 5, which fixes the apparent Cuban Flag error within the game.
