Mortal Kombat has a long tradition of introducing guest characters from across media to its roster of fighters, and the upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 will, of course, continue that tradition, with Invincible’s Omni-Man, The Boys’ Homelander, and DC’s Peacemarker having been officially announced as post-launch DLC characters for the fighter.

The NetherRealm Studios team is bringing out another Mortal Kombat installment. While some might have assumed that after the conclusion of Mortal Kombat 11, we would see Mortal Kombat 12. However, NetherRealm Studios is instead bringing out a reboot with Mortal Kombat 1. This game is set in a new timeline, so there’s room to make adjustments or changes to the roster of characters we’ve come to know and love over the years. But with it comes a new collection of guest fighters. 

In a world where Hollywood often paints hackers as enigmatic figures equipped with sophisticated technology, the reality can sometimes be startlingly different. Instead of high-tech gadgets and fancy setups, a simple Amazon Fire TV stick, a smartphone, keyboard, and mouse were enough for Arion Kurtaj, a member of the hacking group Lapsus$, to leak videos from the highly anticipated game Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA 6). Surprisingly, he accomplished this while staying in a UK hotel room.

The Messenger Lite for Android, the popular lightweight application with basic features from the Messenger app, is being pulled by Meta next month. The app was intended for less-powerful Android devices and could run with less RAM usage and required less storage space. The app was first launched in October 2016. It immediately grew in popularity among users who did not own an expensive smartphone, as they too could comfortably use the Messenger app without worrying about it slowing down the phone, taking up too much space, or draining the battery. However, Meta has set a last date for the app, and you should know it too.

Developer Cardboard Computer sporadically released their poetic adventure game, Kentucky Route Zero, in acts spread across multiple years. It was a teasing release schedule that only aided the game’s surreal mystery, so it’s no surprise that the studio have dropped the game’s first major update three years after the fifth and final chapter wrapped things up. The aptly named Postmodern Update overhauls the game’s user interface with a new Modern mode, alongside a host of bug fixes and more language options.

Since its inception, OpenAI's ChatGPT has faced many allegations around spreading misinformation, fake news, and inaccurate information. But over time, the chatbot's algorithm has been able to improve these issues significantly. Alongside, one more criticism was made about ChatGPT in its very early days that the platform displayed a sign of political bias. Some people alleged that the chatbot leaned liberal while giving responses to some questions. However, just days after the allegations first surfaced, people found that the OpenAI's chatbot refused to answer any political questions, something it does even today. However, a new study has made claims that ChatGPT still holds a political bias.

Yesterday, a rumor popped up from a Brazilian store that said Final Fantasy VII Remake was coming to Xbox. As you can probably guess, Xbox gamers were excited about this. But soon enough, the truth was revealed.

Earlier this month, Rockstar announced that Red Dead Redemption is coming to the Nintendo Switch and PS4 digital storefronts on Aug. 17. The $49.99 digital version of the title includes the campaign and the fantastic Undead Nightmare expansion, in addition to all of the bonus content featured in the original “Game of the Year” editionfor Xbox 360 and PS3 (omitting multiplayer content, which is no longer included in this game). A physical version is planned for Oct. 13.

Microsoft has confirmed that a post from its Brazilian Twitter account which included a character from Final Fantasy 7 Remake did so only by mistake and that it was not, in fact, a furtive teaser for a potential Xbox release.

Leaks don’t typically happen by major industry leaders. But it looks like there might have been a leak that surfaced online directly from the Xbox team. It’s not confirmed to be real right now, and plenty of Twitter users are suggesting not to take this information as anything real. However, one Xbox Twitter account tweeted an image featuring Final Fantasy 7 Remake. The only problem is that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is not available on the Xbox platform. So we could be looking at an announcement coming out from the Xbox and Square Enix teams soon.

The time is nearing for the latest addition to the Mortal Kombat franchise to be released. While everyone is still coming off the hype of learning that the game will be a reboot rather than another step in the long line of games, a Brazilian retailer might have leaked a key detail about what kind of game mode we can expect in the upcoming release, a single-player mode (Invasion) for Mortal Kombat 1.

Larian Studios has released its third major hotfix for Baldur’s Gate 3, addressing over 200 bugs. Along with the Blue Behir Dice being available for all players permanently, Scratch’s ability to search for digging spots has improved. He’ll do so automatically and won’t require constant direction.

A studio that handled Baldur’s Gate III translations has apologized after outsourced workers were omitted from the game’s credits. "We take full responsibility for this omission of our freelancers' names and apologize for the effects that it had," Altagram Group founder and CEO Marie Amigues said in a statement. "We would like to thank Larian for allowing us to quickly fix that error and update the credits section. The names of the Brazilian Portuguese translators will be included in an upcoming patch to the game."

The subject of one big change is Scratch, a dog (an actual dog, not a disguised demon from the Nine Hells) who can be recruited into your party as a loyal and trustworthy pet. You can pet Scratch and play fetch with him, and following the update he'll also be able to sniff out good spots to dig for treasure himself, which will hopefully lead him to discover more and better things to bring to you.

Despite Mortal Kombat 1 releasing in a little over a month's time, there's still a lot we don't know about it besides the characters that will be included. Most of the game's marketing has been focused on character inclusions, the most recent trailer showcasing Reptile, Havik, and Ashrah. There's been very little information regarding actual content and multiplayer modes, but a new pre-order retail listing in Brazil has given us the name of a new single player mode called "Invasions".

Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3 may have received significant acclaim from fans and critics, but it does have some issues. The developer has addressed the same in two hotfixes and is working on Patch 1 (which will add credits for the Brazilian Portuguese localization team).

Larian Studios has garnered plenty of acclaim for Baldur’s Gate 3, whether it’s becoming the second-biggest Steam launch of 2023 or ninth in all-time peak concurrent player counts. Critics have also praised the role-playing game (see our review here), but concerns have arisen regarding the credits. As it turns out, Altagram Group, who did the Brazilian Portuguese localization, didn’t credit its translators.

Baldur's Gate 3 is exceeding even developer Larian Studios' expectations at the moment, bringing in a record breaking number of players on Steam, with both PlayStation and Xbox ports still to come. It's mostly down to the game barely putting a foot wrong on the gameplay side, though there is one small controversy that has threatened to derail the game's success somewhat, as it was recently discovered that the localization team for the game's Brazilian Portugese translation has been left out of the final credits.

Larian Studios says it has been in contact with a localization company that failed to provide complete credits for the Brazilian translation of Baldur's Gate 3, and promised that all missing credits will be added in the next hotfix.

Baldur’s Gate III isn’t even fully released yet and it's already achieved the kind of buzz other developers would sell a kidney for. However, with that buzz comes increased public scrutiny, and it looks like the game failed to credit many of the workers who helped complete the project, as reported by Game Developer.

We’ve been hearing rumours about a remaster of the original Red Dead Redemption for some time now, and they have indeed turned out to be accurate- sort of. The widely acclaimed Western open world epic, which released for PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2010, is indeed coming to modern consoles, though it doesn’t look like it will be making too many major enhancements or changes.

After months of rumors, Rockstar Games announced that Red Dead Redemption is re-releasing for PS4 and Nintendo Switch on August 17th (with a physical release on October 13th). Retailing for $49.99 and handled by Double Eleven Studios, it features support for new languages like Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and more.

Red Dead Redemption is one of the best games of the PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 era, and part of that is because it hasn’t migrated from those platforms since it arrived in 2010. After 13 years, that finally changes with a surprise jump to PlayStation 4 and Switch.
