Swen Vincke, head of Baldur's Gate 3 developer Larian, has been vocal about the ongoing wave of layoffs in the games industry, and reckons that cuts affecting critical departments and senior developers are especially shortsighted.

Man, y'all really like mechs. The long-awaited Helldivers 2 mechs hit the game earlier today following the liberation of planet Tien Kwan, and it seems the community's enthusiasm has outpaced developer expectations and server limitations once again.
In a tweet, Helldivers 2 boss Johan Pilestedt revealed that players cleared Tien Kwan and unlocked mechs "4x faster than we thought." It only took about a day to get the factory planet liberated, so I'm assuming the devs at Arrowhead were expecting players to unlock the EXO-45s sometime this weekend. Hell hath no fury like divers with a Mighty Need for big robots.
"With the successful push from the community to take Tien Kwan and the subsequent enabling of the mechs our servers have a hard time coping, the team is aware and doing what they can to mitigate," Pilestedt adds. "This intermittent issue is caused by too many trying to acquire the mech at the same time. Service will be restored eventually, but for now I ask for patience."
There is something hilarious about hundreds of thousands of players ravenously grinding to unlock mechs, traces of their impending robot glory staring them tantalizingly in the face the whole time, only to finally reach the promised land and immediately mech out so hard that the servers buckle. It's especially funny given that the Helldivers 2 servers had generally stabilized in the past few weeks. All it took was one new Stratagem and an unquenchable thirst for big robots to bring the stampede right back. Godspeed, Helldivers.
Helldivers 2 players scramble to figure out what's changed after dev admits "some things were stealth buffed and not put in the patch notes."

Helldivers 2 just got two new heavy weapons for democratic soldiers to bring to the ongoing fight against the Automatons, spurred by a new Major Order to liberate Troost and head off the bots' "Reclamation." The LAS-99 Quasar Cannon and MG-206 Heavy Machine Gun are now available "for immediate battlefield distribution," as developer Arrowhead Game Studios announced via Twitter today.
There are few individuals as mysterious as Helldivers 2's galactic game master Joel – the man pulling all the strings of the war, constantly working to evolve the third-person shooter's evolving narrative, as well as issuing Major Orders to us all.
Helldivers 2 is full of powerful weapons to smash up bots and squash bugs, ranging from satisfying firearms to explosive orbital strikes that often do more harm to you and your team than the actual enemies. Out of them all, though, one weapon stands out to game director Johan Pilestedt for having the best design.
Helldivers 2 players really want to be able to experience the game's best mission with some added challenge.
In the violent future of Helldivers 2, the United Kingdom no longer exists on Super Earth, it would seem. The co-op shooter from Arrowhead Game Studios has become a smash hit thanks to its gameplay and sci-fi story that blends classic tropes and dark, cynical humor. Lots of gamers love Helldivers 2 and are always eager to learn more about its world and backstory.
Helldivers 2 is an early 2024 smash hit, with critical and commercial acclaim following its explosive launch on PlayStation 5 and PC. But there are some aspects of the co-op shooter that can result in a frustrating experience, and one of them has to do with the behavior of your teammates.
The success of Helldivers 2 continues unabated. Even yesterday, the third-person cooperative sci-fi shooter game nearly reached its historical peak of 450K concurrent online users on Steam. The user reception on Valve's store has meaningfully improved compared to launch, too, leaping from the original 67% 'Mixed' review rating to the current 81% 'Very Positive' review rating.
Helldivers 2 game director Johan Pilestedt is pushing back against complaints about the most recent balance patch, specifically as it relates to the RS-422 railgun.
It's official: mechs are in Helldivers 2. This is after players successfully liberated Tien Kwan, the planet that devs tasked fans with saving in order to unlock a new Stratagem.
Helldivers 2 mechs are finally here, people. Just one day after galactic game master Joel added factory planet Tien Kwan to the war front in a surprise twist that delayed the mecha mayhem, hundreds of thousands of Helldivers have successfully liberated the joint and unlocked the new mech Stratagem for everyone.
The Helldivers 2 community has liberated Tien Kwan just a day after it became available to play, unlocking the use of mechs in the process. But before you log to stomp on bugs and shoot up bots, there’s something you need to know first.
