Final Fantasy has been such a massive franchise that spanned across decades and across multiple console generations. There’s been some truly standout installments from this long-running series as well. One of the more beloved games of the series was Final Fantasy VII, a title that blew up in multiple markets when it initially launched in 1997 for the Sony PlayStation. Since then, fans worldwide have pleaded for Square Enix to return and bring out a remake for this JRPG installment. Fortunately, in 2020, we finally got the first part of this remake. Since this game installment was so massive, the developers could only deliver the game in parts. We’re going to receive Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second installment to this trilogy remake, in 2024.
We know Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is coming into the marketplace on February 29, 2024. However, you can get a chance to play this second installment a bit early. That is if you will be attending the MCM Comic Con London event. It’s possible that we might see an opportunity to try out Final Fantasy VII Rebirth again somewhere else after MCM London wraps. Unfortunately, we don’t know what section of the game will be playable at the event. Instead, the X post from the Final Fantasy VII account only notes that this game will be playable for the public at the upcoming Comic Con event.
See you in London!

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will retain the same real-time action combat gameplay from its predecessor, where we’ll again follow Cloud Strife and his friends as they continue to prevent the megacorporation Shinra from further exploiting the Lifestream. This should be another epic battle and journey, with players likely seeing this narrative journey finally wrap up with the next installment after Final Fantasy VII Rebirth releases into the marketplace. But we’ll just have to see if this ends up being the case by the time we start hearing the news on the third part of the remake.
With all that said, if you don’t want to go back and play the first part of the remake, you should still be fine with getting into Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Now, it’s probably well worth returning to play the remake’s first part. This will allow players to understand the storyline and characters fully. But the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth game director, Naoki Hamaguchi, did note that all three remake project titles have been designed to be standalone games in their own right. So you can enjoy the game fully without having to play the previous game installment. Again, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be available on February 29, 2024, for the PlayStation 5 console.

Square Enix revealed that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth won’t start players back at level 1. Still, they won’t have all of their powers & gear from FF7 Remake either.
One of the biggest questions of Square Enix’s “remake saga” with Cloud and friends was, “how much are they going to change things?” At first, it seemed like the changes would merely be cosmetic in the gameplay space. After all, the company had moved past turn-based combat for their mainline titles, and the remake took that and ran with it in a good way. But as players actually went through the title, they noticed not just a focus on the Midgar saga but fleshed-out characters and big changes. All this makes Final Fantasy VII Rebirth even more anticipated because of the changes that could come.
The anticipation for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth grows with every week that goes by and every piece of news that gets put out for it. In the game, we’ll finally get to set foot outside of Midgar and see the world of Gaia for the most part. Square Enix has already highlighted certain cities and areas we’ll visit, including the final “fateful” location that will end the game. But there are still many mysteries surrounding the title that we won’t get answered until we play it. For example, there’s the issue with Zack Fair and his role in the remake saga.
When it comes to games coming out in 2024, it will be hard to top the hype for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. It took quite a while for the original remake title to be released on PS4, but once it did, it was rather legendary. Square Enix put everything they could into this remake saga so that it would stand out visually, have advanced gameplay mechanics, and still feel like the original, but be expanded in ways they couldn’t do before. The result was one of the system’s best titles, and now, the sequel has the same hype attached to it.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will feature what is likely the most well-known event of the original, and of JRPGs in general, and it sounds like it will be surprising even for those who played the original.
Square Enix is touring its highly anticipated RPG, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, to let the world sample what was demoed at Tokyo Game Show a few weeks ago. Its most recent stop brought it to New York City during New York Comic Con. Behind closed doors, Square Enix invited select media to give the upcoming action-RPG a spin. Our early impressions are incredibly promising, as Rebirth builds upon Final Fantasy VII Remake's excellent foundation by widening the game's scope and combat options. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is shaping up to be a monstrously large PlayStation 5 game, and one we can’t wait to play when it launches on February 29, 2024.
It’s a big deal every time Final Fantasy VII Rebirth gets brought up. Why? Because even though it’s coming out in 2024, the game is easily one of the most-anticipated titles of next year, and it’s not hard to see why. First, the game is going to look beautiful on the PS5. Second, the PS4 title, the first entry in the “remake saga,” was easily one of the best games of its year, and fans wanted more almost from the time it launched. Third, it’s clear that the team behind the project is going all out to ensure that fans get everything they deserve. That includes bringing back a fan-favorite “vampire.”
Square Enix hosted a panel for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth at New York Comic-Con 2023 hosted by Critical Role’s Matt Mercer, in which the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth voice cast discussed their experiences voicing the game’s iconic characters. During the panel, Matt Mercer confirmed he will voice Vincent Valentine, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi appeared for a surprise question-and-answer session at the end.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's Vincent Valentine is being voiced by famous voice actor Matthew Christopher Miller, better known as Matt Mercer.
Vincent is coming out of his coffin. Announced at the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth voice cast panel at New York Comic-Con, the voice actor for the gun-toting ex-Turk has been officially confirmed: Matt Mercer. This comes after fans claimed the prolific voice actor was the character when he appeared in the latest State of Play.
When it comes to video game hype, game developers will do all kinds of things to get their fans ready for what’s coming, including leaving plenty of clues or “insights” into various promotional materials for the game to see if they notice them. For Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Square Enix has already dropped a couple of trailers highlighting the game world’s larger scale and the characters you’ll see in it. They’ve also dropped hints about the game’s story, including whether a certain character will die at the end of the title. But now, Square Enix has revealed something interesting about a key piece of art.
