Elden Ring Fans Are Begging For The Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC To Destroy Them

Elden Ring is a pretty tough game. Sure, most FromSoftware fans would probably tell you it's the easiest to beat, thanks to the Mimic Tear and the ability to overlevel to your heart's content, but it still has Malenia, Blade of Miquella and a whole host of bosses that will grab your health bar and beat you to death with it. That's what fans of Elden Ring and the Souls series like though, and it wouldn't be a true FromSoftware experience if you didn't encounter an absolute brick wall of a challenge.
And that's also exactly why Elden Ring fans have their fingers crossed that the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is even more brutal than the base game. Reddit user RedditKnight is one such fan, who shared their thoughts about Shadow of the Erdtree's potential difficulty with the Elden Ring subreddit earlier this week. Unsurprisingly, they were met by a couple of hundred other masochists hoping the DLC destroys them.
There are already a few even dreaming up ridiculously difficult fights that could feature in the DLC, including multiple duo fights involving Malenia and Miquella. In fact, Miquella gets a mention quite a few times, with some suggesting/hoping that Miquella could end up being the super difficult boss fights that we're all dreading/craving. Either that, or they'll be an NPC with a creepy British laugh that we have to talk to, you never know with FromSoftware.
Lord Miyazaki has high hopes for us. That we continue to struggle. Unto eternity.
If we're being honest, it's more than likely that FromSoftware will rise to the occasion and Shadow of the Erdtree will make us want to tear our hair out. Usually, the more challenging, memorable boss fights in the Soulsborne series have come in the DLC, such as Artorias, Fume Knight, Slave Knight Gael, Orphan of Kos, Ludwig, Manus, and many, many more. If anything, it would be surprising if the DLC isn't tough as nails, with a secret boss somewhere that will make us all wish we'd never been born.
As for when we can look forward to the torture, we unfortunately still don't have a release date for Shadow of the Erdtree just yet. There are rumblings that we could get one pretty soon though, as a recent Steam update revealed it's currently in the "quality assessment" stage, implying that it'll be here sooner rather than later. Bring it on Miyazaki, do your worst!
