Elden Ring originally had a different starting point that had players washing up on a beach in Limgrave.

Elden Ring has been out for a little while now, and plenty of extra material has been released alongside it since then, some of it extremely bizarre. For example, an Elden Ring manga was released shortly after the launch of the game, and despite all the game's depressing themes and stories, the manga itself was actually more a comedy. Truly bizarre stuff, but not that out of character.
However, Elden Ring may have one-upped itself with a new novel that was just announced by Kadakowa Group. You'd think with the sheer amount of lore and character included in the game, coupled with FromSoftware's fairly off-hand approach to storytelling, that a novel all about the world's characters and motivations would be a no-brainer, but Kadakowa has gone for a different approach.
First reported by SiliconEra, the novel is called Shigoto ga Owareba, Ano Shukufuku de (or See You At That Grace After Work for all you English speakers) and revolves around a regular office worker who enjoys playing Elden Ring by himself in his spare time. One day at work, a senior colleague spots him looking at Elden Ring guides, and the two begin to form a beautiful relationship while bonding at work and in Elden Ring over their shared love of the title.
See You At That Grace After Work has a pretty talented writer behind it too, having been written by Keiichi Hikami who has also written several books based on the Monster Hunter series.
Like I said, truly strange but kind of wholesome stuff. If you were itching for a slice of life Elden Ring story, then you'll unfortunately have to look somewhere else. See You At That Grace After Work is currently only available in Japan right now, with no word on an international release at the time of writing, though it is up for pre-order on Amazon Japan with a March 29 release date. If you speak the language, and you're a fan of Elden Ring, then fill your boots.
For the rest of you, you'll have to wait for Shadow of the Erdtree for more Elden Ring. Thankfully, we won't be waiting for it for too long, as it was announced alongside a gameplay trailer earlier this month that Shadow of the Erdtree will be launching on June 21 on all platforms. So we'll be waiting just four more months for more poison swamps, Berserk references, and Malenia-tier boss fights that'll make us want to rip our hair out. I can't wait.

Elden Ring is the gift that just does not stop giving, as every week there's a new discovery, exploit, or item description that has new context due to the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC's latest trailer. Last week, there was the revelation that Walking Mausoleums can be pushed around with a certain spell, but this week's is one hell of a find from a dataminer called Sekiro Dubi, who has reconstructed an alternate intro for the game.
Grand Theft Auto 5 is getting a documentary, but not about what you might think. A film company called Altitude Media Group has decided to pick up this idea from two players who decided to stage Shakespeare’s Hamlet in the game during the COVID-19 shutdown.
The final two of four planned GI Joe limited series from Skybound Entertainment will focus on another pair of classic characters from the beloved franchise: Scarlett, and Destro. Alongside the current Duke and Cobra Commander limited series, these four titles will comprise the launch of the GI Joe portion of Skybound's new Energon Universe, in which the Real American Heroes exist alongside the Transformers in a shared continuity.

The parent company of Elden Ring developer FromSoftware is releasing a novel based on the beloved fantasy role-playing game, but its subject isn't necessarily what you'd expect.
Rejoice, Elden Ring fans, as the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion now has a nailed-down release date of June 21. What's better than that? Well, a discount on DLC of course. It's currently priced at $39.99 MSRP, sparking speculation that this could truly be a massive offering for fans. But, if you're on PC, we highly recommend picking up Shadow of the Erdtree from Green Man Gaming, a trusted online PC code merchant who currently has the DLC listed for $35.19 instead (see here) / £30.79 in the UK.
A new combat system in ’s DLC will likely change how players approach difficult challenges with bosses and mini-bosses in the additional content for the game. The long-awaited expansion was announced back in February 2023, a year after the base game’s original release. At the time, little information was provided other than the title itself and artwork featuring a blonde character mounted on a Spirit Steed, with an alternative version of the Erdtree far in the distance. Now, more information has been uncovered with the DLC’s gameplay reveal trailer.
