Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty gets a new features trailer

If you’re a fan of Cyberpunk 2077, then you know this month will be a big one for the game. We have two major releases for Cyberpunk 2077, one of which is entirely free. Unfortunately, both will require you to ensure the game is being played on the latest-generation platforms along with the PC. However, today, a new concept art piece was dropped to further hype up the new content you can expect for Night City later this month. Take a look at the Black Sapphire club.

Ahead of its release later this month, CD Projekt Red has clarified what we can expect from Cyberpunk 2077's huge 2.0 update. In other words, the developer has outlined which big changes will be free via the patch, and which adjustments will be part of the paid Phantom Liberty expansion.

Cyberpunk 2077's first and only story expansion, Phantom Liberty, is fast approaching. For some time, we've known it will launch alongside a version 2.0 patch, adding in some of the new features free of charge. However, we now know exactly what improvements will be exclusive to Phantom Liberty, and it includes some long-requested changes.

Cyberpunk 2077's dev has clarified what's actually included in the paid expansion, and what's coming for free as part of update 2.0.

Cyberpunk 2077 fans were eager to get their hands on the game when it was first revealed. However, as you know, the game didn’t quite yet the strides that CD Projekt Red initially set out for it. Instead, the developers were forced into scrapping their post-launch plans for Cyberpunk 2077 to ensure that they can deliver enough updates to adjust the base game. With that said, there is finally the upcoming expansion release heading our way for the RPG. Fans who are interested in diving into more content will have Phantom Liberty to enjoy this month. Meanwhile, everyone will get to enjoy the big 2.0 update for the game. 

While next month may belong to titles like Starfield and Mortal Kombat 1, CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is also heavily anticipated. It received a new trailer and extensive gameplay at Gamescom 2023, and in the company’s first half 2023 earnings conference, CD Projekt revealed it was “very happy” about current pre-orders.

While Cyberpunk 2077 failed to deliver the grand launch that fans were expecting, the development team put a hold on everything planned for the game post-launch and instead focused on ensuring the game met its standards. A series of updates later, the developers were able to refocus on an expansion release. Unfortunately, this game is only getting one expansion with Phantom Liberty. However, if you have been waiting for another reason to jump back into Night City, CD Projekt Red is hopeful you’ll have one this coming month. Recently, the game director behind the expansion, Gabe Amatangelo, was interviewed and provided the footage directly on their official Cyberpunk 2077 YouTube channel.

With its upcoming expansion Phantom Liberty, it’s looking like Cyberpunk 2077 will finally make good on the lofty promises that it failed to live up to with its base launch, with all of its showings having impressed so far, not least because of the expansion’s overhauled progression mechanics, vehicular combat, police system, and much more.

Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red gave fans of the franchise a lot to be excited for during Gamescom Opening Night Live by releasing a new trailer for the game's Phantom Liberty DLC. This trailer broke down all of the gameplay changes that will be included in the game's free version 2.0 update for current-gen consoles that's releasing alongisde the main DLC. Changes include a complete combat overhaul, vehicular combat, new weapons, and a whole bunch more.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is a major moment for CD Projekt Red's big RPG. Aside from a major new story and the inclusion of Idris Elba, it will include a host of major improvements, all of which will be available in the base game for free.
