Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty gameplay trailer shows off reworks and new toys

If you’re a fan of Cyberpunk 2077, then you know this month will be a big one for the game. We have two major releases for Cyberpunk 2077, one of which is entirely free. Unfortunately, both will require you to ensure the game is being played on the latest-generation platforms along with the PC. However, today, a new concept art piece was dropped to further hype up the new content you can expect for Night City later this month. Take a look at the Black Sapphire club.

CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is still several weeks away but continues to look ever-so sumptuous. In a new trailer on Twitter (with footage captured by @Much118x), the developer showcases some of the expansion’s new weapons and Update 2.0’s abilities that players can utilize.

CD Projekt Red has detailed exactly which of Cyberpunk 2077’s upcoming changes will be offered to all players as part of the game’s major 2.0 update, and which additions will be included in the game’s massive Phantom Liberty expansion.

Cyberpunk 2077's first and only story expansion, Phantom Liberty, is fast approaching. For some time, we've known it will launch alongside a version 2.0 patch, adding in some of the new features free of charge. However, we now know exactly what improvements will be exclusive to Phantom Liberty, and it includes some long-requested changes.

Those of you who were hopeful that CD Projekt Red would support Cyberpunk 2077 with a few expansions are out of luck. When the development team revealed that they would bring out Phantom Liberty into the marketplace, it was shortly met with confirmation that the expansion was the only one to release for the game. It was likely quite a bit of disheartening news for fans of the game. This news would make it especially true for fans who waited for the game to finally arrive and stuck through the rough launch. However, it’s confirmed that we won’t be seeing any new releases outside of Phantom Liberty.

While next month may belong to titles like Starfield and Mortal Kombat 1, CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is also heavily anticipated. It received a new trailer and extensive gameplay at Gamescom 2023, and in the company’s first half 2023 earnings conference, CD Projekt revealed it was “very happy” about current pre-orders.

I’m sure quite a few upcoming games are already marked on your calendar. For some of you, Cyberpunk 2077’s upcoming expansion might be among the list of upcoming releases you’ll want to take on. While Cyberpunk 2077 failed to deliver the grand launch that fans were expecting, the development team put a hold on everything planned for the game post-launch and instead focused on ensuring the game met its standards. A series of updates later, the developers were able to refocus on an expansion release. Unfortunately, this game is only getting one expansion with Phantom Liberty. However, if you have been waiting for another reason to jump back into Night City, CD Projekt Red is hopeful you’ll have one this coming month. Recently, the game director behind the expansion, Gabe Amatangelo, was interviewed and provided the footage directly on their official Cyberpunk 2077 YouTube channel.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is a major moment for CD Projekt Red's big RPG. Aside from a major new story and the inclusion of Idris Elba, it will include a host of major improvements, all of which will be available in the base game for free.

Fortunately, fans are getting one expansion for the game, which will likely bring out plenty of players back into the mean streets of Night City. We know that Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is set to launch next month, and with it comes a brand new area, storyline, and gear. However, we recently learned that Netrunners will get a nice overhaul.
