Just a couple of days after winning the Game of the Year and Best Story-Rich Game prizes at the Steam Awards 2023, Baldur's Gate 3 is once again preparing to clean up the house at the upcoming 13th Annual New York Game Awards. The New York Videogame Critics Circle (NYVGCC) has just announced the full list of nominees during a live stream event and Larian's outstanding cRPG has received six nominations in the Game of the Year, Best Writing, Best World, Best Music, and Best Acting (twice, for Amelia Tyler as the narrator of Baldur's Gate 3 and Neil Newbon as the High Elf Vampire Rogue companion character Astarion) categories.
The other two games with the highest number of nominations are again far from surprising since they were extremely well-received upon their respective releases. Remedy's Alan Wake II and CD Projekt's Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty both earned five nominations, some of which were shared, such as in the Game of the Year, Best Writing, Best World, and Best Acting categories (Melanie Liburd as Saga Anderson and Idris Elba as Solomon Reed). Alan Wake II also got nominated for Best Music and Phantom Liberty for Best DLC.
Other multi-nominated games include Starfield (Game of the Year, Best Writing, Best World), Final Fantasy XVI (Best World, Best Music, Best Acting for Ben Starr as Clive Rosfield), The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Game of the Year, Best Music, Best Kids Game), Tchia (Best Writing, Best Music, Best Kids Game), Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (Game of the Year, Best World), Hi-Fi Rush (Game of the Year, Best Music), Resident Evil 4 (Best Remake, Best DLC), and Chants of Sennaar (Best Indie, Best World).
The winners (my bets are on Baldur's Gate 3 taking the cake again) will be announced at the SVA Theatre in Manhattan on Tuesday, January 23. Tickets are already on sale for $60 (General Admission) or $75 (VIP with orchestra seating) via Eventbrite. The ceremony will also feature Neil Druckmann, Naughty Dog's Co-President and Head of Creative, who is scheduled to receive the Andrew Yoon Legend Award. The same prize went to Microsoft's Phil Spencer last year and Double Fine's Tim Schafer in 2022.

Cyberpunk 2077 came out on December 10, 2022, nearly three years ago. It was a mess at launch, so bad in fact that it was pulled from the PlayStation store amidst an influx of refund demands. CD Projekt Red got to work on updating the game to fix the myriad problems plaguing performance, while also working to introduce some of the key promises absent in the final game such as a working metro, ultimately delaying DLC plans.
