Baldur's Gate 3 hotfix temporarily freezes saves after being rolled back over game crashes

Baldur’s Gate 3’s hotfix #5 has been released, and with it comes several tweaks to the game and fixes to some issues players have encountered during their playthrough. This time around, Minthara’s dialogue has taken the spotlight, with several fixes to their dialogue being blocked, and the PS5 version is getting some love with a few specific fixes just before thegames official release tomorrow.

In a recent interview on the Dungeons & Dragons official channel, founder and CEO of Larian Studios Swen Vincke dove into the nuts and bolts of how the team's been turning around patch fixes so quickly, especially as a response to community critique. 

While exploring the Underdark, you’ll encounter only a handful of creatures and friendly faces, but plenty of enemies and foes ready to attack you in Baldur’s Gate 3. One of the more friendly faces you can find is Baelen, a mushroom picker exploring the Underdark. Unfortunately, he’s gotten himself into a load of trouble.

The beauty of Dungeons & Dragons lies in its immersive role-playing structure that bestows upon you the role of an author, but you never truly know where the story is headed. It's quite humane in that sense, where no matter how well-prepared you are, fate's inevitable gnarly fingers might have different ideas for us. Larian Studios' latest Baldur's Gate III explores the Forgotten Realms, a dark fantastical corner of D&D that's brimming with devils, deities, and the supernatural. A highly dynamic world that reacts to the digits on a polyhedral dice to weave an emotional tale about a group of broken people, gambling their lives against sinister forces that ooze Lovecraftian vibes. On the other hand, you can take a backseat and watch it all fade to misery, as you scroll through Astarion fan art and look up the quickest ways to romance bears in-game.

After four hotfixes, the first fully-fledged Baldur's Gate 3 patch is here and, unsurprinslgy, it's a big one. The Baldur's Gate 3 update aims to address the fair number of problems that have unfortunately plagued the RPG game since release, with Larian Studios claiming it's squashing more than 1000 bugs.

The voice actor behind Baldur's Gate 3's least-favorite companion has reacted to players' mean tweets about the character, and it's hilarious. 

Karlach is one of the few companion characters you can find while playing Baldur’s Gate 3. Shortly after meeting her, you’ll discover that an infernal engine has gone into her chest, replacing her heart. It’s a device that can only function in Avernus, and she’s trying her best to repair it throughout your campaign. However, she has few options available, and it looks like the deck is stacked against her.

Yesterday, Larian Studios outlined its current roadmap for patches and hotfixes and rolled out its latest, Hotfix #4. But, after that hotfix started causing crashes, the studio quickly undid the move.

Collector's Editions of Baldur's Gate 3 are selling for over $1,000, roughly five times their base retail price.

It's almost a guarantee that if you sell a limited collector's edition for any game now, it'll end up on the internet at extortionate prices thanks to scalpers. Baldur's Gate 3 is no different.

The latest Baldur’s Gate 3 hotfix has been temporarily rolled back by developer Larian Studios, and it’s unfortunate news for the most eager players among us. Baldur’s Gate 3 hotfix 4 was deployed on Wednesday, August 16, and fixes some annoying multiplayer problems as well as improving some of the tougher combat sequences in the RPG game. Sadly, the update has been temporarily pulled due to “unexpected issues” and, while you can still play, your saves may be stuck in limbo until the Baldur’s Gate 3 patch returns.
