Xbox Game Pass subscribers can look forward to the addition of two more games coming this year in the form of Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2and Lords of the Fallen. It's been a big couple of weeks for Xbox Game Pass users, as last year's hit action adventure masterpiece Star Wars Jedi: Survivor just recently landed on the Ultimate tier of the service. Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons populate Game Pass' May calendar, all leading up to the long-awaited release of Ninja Theory's Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 on the 21st.
Developed and published by CI Games and released in the Summer of 2021, Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2, while not hugely popular, received praise from fans and critics for its engaging first-person sniper gameplay. It followed up its 2019 predecessor Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts, which shifted from the series' open world design to an open-ended mission-based structure, akin to the popular Hitman games. More recently, CI Games' Lords of the Fallen was released to more of a lukewarm reception, as it suffered from many bugs and lacked polish at launch. It's since been patched up and has received its final Master of Fate content update.
Now, in a Polish report on Bankier.pl, CI Games has confirmed the recent rumors of Lords of the Fallen and Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 landing on Game Pass at some point this year. The report states that the agreement was signed with Xbox just a few days ago, on May 3. This is a huge deal for fans of Soulslike games who have been waiting for a sale to jump into Lords of the Fallen. Additionally, this is a great move by CI Games to get more eyes on its lesser-known Sniper franchise.
While both games are now confirmed to arrive on Xbox Game Pass at some point in 2024, CI Games' document made no mention of a targeted timeframe for release. Furthermore, Xbox Game Pass' Twitter account has yet to formally acknowledge the arrival of the games as well. With that, it'll likely be a few weeks at least until the games actually land on the service. CI Games was hit with unfortunate layoffs earlier this year, so it makes sense for it to make a play with Game Pass for two of its most recent games, putting them in front of as many gamers as possible at no additional cost.
With Lords of the Fallen's final update out the door, CI Games has likely moved on to its next project. Whether it's a sequel to Lords of the Fallen, a third Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts game, or something else entirely is unknown. In the meantime, Game Pass users can look forward to enjoying two CI Games titles sometime in the near future.
