2024 looks fairly similar to last year for shooter games fans in that there are very few big names on the list. We still don't know exactly what id Software and The Coalition are doing, while DICE's next Battlefield isn't launching any time soon. There will be a new Call of Duty game, of course, but it's hard to get too excited about it after Modern Warfare III.

STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl (September 5 - PC, Xbox Series S|X)
It's not the first or even the second time STALKER 2 made it on the shooter games list. The sequel to the cult classic open world first-person shooter game originally targeted a 2021 release window. The developers then shared an actual release date of April 28th, 2022, which was delayed again to December 8th, 2022. That happened in January 2022, roughly a month and a half before Russia invaded Ukraine. Such an unfortunate event inevitably disrupted the final development of STALKER 2, forcing GSC Game World to temporarily halt working on the game. The development resumed in late May after the team had mostly relocated to the safety of Prague, but some of the members had decided to go fight for their country instead, slowing down the pace.
Eventually, GSC Game World brought a playable build of STALKER 2 at Gamescom 2023, allowing not only media but the public as well to check out the game. The reception was a bit mixed: the sequel felt like STALKER but had quite a few technical issues. This feedback led to two more delays, first to Q1 2024 and then, earlier this week, to the new launch date of September 5. On this occasion, the team said it had to resolve the technical imperfections to deliver the quality all fans expected. Hopefully, this is the last time we'll have to put this on the most anticipated shooter games list.
Gray Zone Warfare (2024 - PC)
It is telling that one of the most interesting shooter games coming in 2024 comes from a former mobile game developer rather than a household name. Czech studio MADFINGER Games made its fortune on games like Shadowgun and Dead Trigger before ditching mobile game development to create an Unreal Engine 5 powered FPS for PC. That game is Gray Zone Warfare, an immersive open world tactical FPS with a big focus on realism. For example, there are no traditional hit points; every injury can impact your soldier's performance and will have to be identified and treated correctly to be solved.
While Gray Zone Warfare does not have a narrative focus, MADFINGER is still promising over 150 quests with

January has almost finished, and 2024 has already started dishing out the horror flicks. This past month saw the release of, a film about a ghostly pool, and the political slasher. However, the year has only just begun, and there are countless other horror flicks heading their way into theaters soon.
A couple weeks ago, I gushed about a new fantasy farming RPG that caught my attention amid so many other "cozy" games for its roots in Japanese mythology. Well, I decided to check up on its Kickstarter and, hot damn, I'm clearly far from the only one excited about Tales of Seikyu.
Let's be real: 2023's sheer quantity and quality of game releases are likely to remain unmatched for a long time, so 2024's most anticipated games list might look a bit puny by direct comparison. However, despite some lingering unknowns (will Dragon Age: Dreadwolf launch this year after the planned Summer reveal? Could Metroid Prime 4 be released as a Nintendo Switch 2 launch title?), even if nothing else happens, the calendar already offers a solid schedule of new games to look forward to. Here's our Top 10 most anticipated games of 2024.
Strategy and simulation games remain my go-to genres whenever I pick up the latest Atari console or turn on my rig to see the Windows XP startup. The reason is and always will be simple: I like to keep my brain ticking along, slightly delaying the decay that would lead to dementia. I am in my mid-thirties now; it's just a ticking time bomb; were this the middle ages, I would be the village elder. So, I will stave off this decay for another year with multiple roles of general, businessman, or village elder.
Though the soulslike genre of games has been around for over a decade with the release of in 2009, widely popular titles like and have helped thrust the genre onto the main stage. With a growing audience of people who relish the punishing, seemingly impossible difficulty and non-linear style of the action RPG genre, it's natural to wonder what's on the horizon regarding new content.
The 2024 list of our most anticipated multiplayer games is hugely dominated by the survival genre, which is bleeding into all kinds of franchises and settings nowadays. It's worth noting that we focused on brand new titles here; for the upcoming expansions and DLCs to existing multiplayer games, head to this list.
2023 wasn’t a banner year for sports or racing games, although it did serve up some solid efforts in the form of the new Forza Motorsport, MLB The Show 23, and more. Will 2024 be a better year? That remains to be seen. It’s always hard to predict what the annualized sports titles will deliver, but we do know the TopSpin franchise is returning, and I’d like to see what MLB The Show 24 pitches us after last year’s addition of the exciting new historical Storylines mode. Lace ‘em and/or gas ‘em up, it’s time for Wccftech’s Most Anticipated Sports and Racing Games of 2024…
Expansions and DLCs have long been part of the gaming industry as developers and publishers continuously seek ways to monetize a successful release beyond the initial purchase. While some gamers may scoff at the mere thought, the best examples of expansions and DLCs have delivered truly incredible gaming experiences that built upon an already great foundation and elevated it even further.
2023 was an excellent year for indie games, but 2024 is setting out to be an even better one thanks to the release of some hotly-anticipated titles from developers who become industry darlings with their previous titles and spiritual successors that will make this a year to remember.
Nintendo Switch owners have gotten not one but three Kirby titles within the past couple of years, as well as the first original 2D Mario platform game to hold a 90+ Metacritic score since Super Mario World. It’s fair game to say that Nintendo fans have been eating well, but will their appetite be satisfied going into 2024? Fans across all platforms should have plenty to be excited for and these represent some of the platform games that Wccftech considers highly anticipated throughout the new year.
Following a solid albeit not outstanding 2023, adventure games fans can look forward to the release of several long-anticipated titles throughout 2024. As usual for this genre, the selected titles offer a unique mix of intrigue and serenity (sometimes seamlessly intertwined) that you are unlikely to find elsewhere.
