Let's be real: 2023's sheer quantity and quality of game releases are likely to remain unmatched for a long time, so 2024's most anticipated games list might look a bit puny by direct comparison. However, despite some lingering unknowns (will Dragon Age: Dreadwolf launch this year after the planned Summer reveal? Could Metroid Prime 4 be released as a Nintendo Switch 2 launch title?), even if nothing else happens, the calendar already offers a solid schedule of new games to look forward to. Here's our Top 10 most anticipated games of 2024.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (February 29 - PlayStation 5)
The Final Fantasy VII remake project continues next month with Rebirth, the second installment in the projected trilogy. Rebirth aims to build upon the successful previous entry while greatly expanding its scope. While it cannot be described as a seamless open world, the game will feature large open areas ripe for exploration, rendered in gorgeous Unreal Engine graphics. The Synergized mechanics makes a comeback from the Intergrade DLC, allowing players to synchronize the attacks of their party members.
Dragon's Dogma 2 (March 22 - PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X)
Nearly twelve years after the original, CAPCOM is satisfying the wishes of so many Dragon's Dogma fans with a sequel. Powered by the RE Engine technology, it will enable creator Hideaki Itsuno to fully realize his original vision, thanks to a much larger game world, much more dynamic AI for Pawns, and more interactive environmental physics. Sadly, online cooperative play is still missing, but at least the Pawns will feature a lot more voiced lines to ensure people don't hear repeated sentences too often.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II (May 21 - PC, Xbox Series S|X)
Ninja Theory impressed everyone with Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, an independent triple-A masterpiece that ultimately led Microsoft to purchase the studio in 2018. Almost seven years later, they're back with a direct sequel that appears to be targeting the same experience first seen in 2017: short, narrative-focused, but extremely intense. This time around, the visuals are even more impressive, thanks to the higher budget and stunning Unreal Engine 5 technology.
Visions of Mana (Summer 2024 - PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series S|X)
Visions of Mana will be the first new mainline installment in Square Enix's RPG franchise in over fifteen years. That alone excited fans, but the recent footage shared by the developers certainly played a big part, too. The game looks

Board gamers are interesting folks. They like to look back at what was hot or not in the previous year. A second favorite pastime, much like a young Luke Skywalker, is looking forward instead of focusing on the here and now. And while many of us have shelves of shame practically overflowing, what better way to add to that first-world problem than by looking forward to what’s coming in 2024. If 2023 was any indication, there’s a lot to look forward to.
This week started with lots of high-profile rumors suggesting that Microsoft would soon switch its strategy on exclusive games. Following the previous rumors of titles like Sea of Thieves and Hi-Fi Rush, we heard from various journalists, leakers, and insiders that big games like Bethesda's Starfield, MachineGames' Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and possibly even The Coalition's Gears of War could be landing on other consoles like Sony's PlayStation and Nintendo's Switch.
January has almost finished, and 2024 has already started dishing out the horror flicks. This past month saw the release of, a film about a ghostly pool, and the political slasher. However, the year has only just begun, and there are countless other horror flicks heading their way into theaters soon.
A couple weeks ago, I gushed about a new fantasy farming RPG that caught my attention amid so many other "cozy" games for its roots in Japanese mythology. Well, I decided to check up on its Kickstarter and, hot damn, I'm clearly far from the only one excited about Tales of Seikyu.
At The Game Awards 2019, Microsoft surprised everybody not only with the announcement of the Xbox Series X and S, but also with an in-engine tech demo that showed off the graphics that would be possible with the next generation of consoles. The goal was to show off the photorealism potential, and the game it chose was Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2. The trailer is terrifying and moody, with Senua belting out a Scandinavian folk tune and glaring intensely as flames and light surround her. If Microsoft wanted to make a memorable splash, it definitely succeeded.

Strategy and simulation games remain my go-to genres whenever I pick up the latest Atari console or turn on my rig to see the Windows XP startup. The reason is and always will be simple: I like to keep my brain ticking along, slightly delaying the decay that would lead to dementia. I am in my mid-thirties now; it's just a ticking time bomb; were this the middle ages, I would be the village elder. So, I will stave off this decay for another year with multiple roles of general, businessman, or village elder.
By far, the biggest reveal at the second Xbox Developer Direct was Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. The new first-person action/adventure game in development at MachineGames looked great in its first presentation and isn't too far off, either, since it is slated to launch later this year on PC and Xbox Series S|X.
The 2024 list of our most anticipated multiplayer games is hugely dominated by the survival genre, which is bleeding into all kinds of franchises and settings nowadays. It's worth noting that we focused on brand new titles here; for the upcoming expansions and DLCs to existing multiplayer games, head to this list.
2024 looks fairly similar to last year for shooter games fans in that there are very few big names on the list. We still don't know exactly what id Software and The Coalition are doing, while DICE's next Battlefield isn't launching any time soon. There will be a new Call of Duty game, of course, but it's hard to get too excited about it after Modern Warfare III.
MachineGames unveiled Indiana Jones and the Great Circle during yesterday's Xbox Developer Direct with a rather impressive presentation. The developers also seemed genuinely psyched about the project, believing it to be a great match for their own game-making chops. Speaking to the Bethesda blog, Senior Animator Rebecca Elfstrӧm Hidén said:
