Slay the Spire 2 has been announced for PC by Mega Crit, with the sequel to the acclaimed deckbuilding roguelike set to initially launch into Steam Early Access in 2025.

The roguelike deck-builder to end all roguelike deck-builders is finally getting a sequel. Slay the Spire 2 is gearing up to release in early access in 2025.

Indie studio Evil Empire is teaming up with a host of other indie developers for a new showcase. Set for April 10 at 5pm GMT, the showcase has been dubbed the Triple-i Initiative, and will feature more than 30 indie games.

There’s trouble for small indie game development, as developers have revealed after talking to each other in the latest Game Developers Conference.

A regular rogue's gallery of independent game developers - including the creators of Dead Cells, Slay The Spire, Darkest Dungeon, Spiritfarer, Terraria and V Rising - have clubbed together to run their own videogame showcase: the Triple-I Initiative. Initially screening on 10th April, it'll be a 45-minute, unhosted, back-to-back series of trailers, reveals and surprise game or demo releases, designed (as per the press release) "to highlight fan-favorite games and hype up established indie classics as well as new IPs". It could become a yearly thing, but that'll obviously depend on how well the first showcase goes down.

Poker-themed deckbuilder Balatro is finding huge success, but its creator explains that they actively avoided similar roguelikes to engineer the best game possible.

A popular Slay the Spire mod called Downfall was compromised over the holidays, and used to push malware to users via a Steam update. The malware in question is called Epsilon and is used to steal information from infected hardware, and was present in the standalone version of the mod on Steam for around an hour on Christmas Day.

Slay The Spire mod Downfall suffered a "security breach" on Christmas day which allowed hackers to distribute malware through Steam, the developers of the mod say. The malware attempts to steal users' passwords from their internet browser, as well as passwords for messaging services Telegram and Discord.

Give me an elegant roguelike with an interesting premise and I’ll go missing for days, repeating runs ad infinitum. The upcoming Cobalt Core almost had me under that trance with its interstellar take on Slay The Spire’s deck-building, but the Steam Next Fest demo ended just before I got trapped in its moreish loop.

We recommended a dozen Steam Next Fest demos out the gate but that barely scratched the surface of the demo-o-rama. So after diving back into the demo pile myself, I have another recommendation for you: adventuring across the galaxy in roguelikelike spaceship deck-building dungeon-crawler Cobalt Core. If you enjoy Slay The Spire and FTL, do have a look, though I might argue that FTL's follow-up, Into The Breach seems a stronger influence. Ah, play the demo and see for yourself!

If you’re looking for an experience that both tests and soothes your brain, Wild Country just might be your next favorite game.

Blending CCG mechanics with the high energy of fighting games, Death or Glory is an upcoming Steam adventure that will test you to your limits: either rise to the challenge or die trying – it’s your choice.

If you want to make a successful mobile game, you can do a lot worse than starting with two of its most successful games and mashing them together. That’s exactly what Deliverance and Reign aims to achieve.
