Dave the Diver meets Slay the Spire in new anime cafe RPG

With the back-to-back launches of Sea of Stars and Starfield, it’s easy to forget that another star-themed RPG is coming this year. To hype the release of Star Ocean The Second Story R, Square Enix has uploaded the remake’s new anime intro to YouTube.

Throne of Bone has a name that just rolls off the tongue and, from the look of it, this roguelike-cum-deckbuilder-cum-autobattler will roll off the ol’ mouse-clicking finger plenty nicely when it releases into Early Access next month, too.

Believe it or not, there is a lot of new TV coming this fall. You might be incredulous: Aren’t we in the middle of historic strikes from both the Writersand Screen Actors guilds? Correct! But for now, TV’s output continues apace, swamping all of us in plenty of new stuff to watch.

Doctor Who is keeping it in the family. New character Rose, played by Heartstopper's Yasmin Finney, who will be joining the show for the upcoming 60th anniversary specials, is now confirmed to be the daughter of previous companion Donna Noble.

All four are hailed as being responsible for the genre's development and popularity. 

Thirteen years is a long time to spend in a Hell of your own mind’s making, so it’s a blessing in disguise that Alan Wake has a case of the video game amnesia about much of that time. There’s a glimmer of hope for him though, as Alan Wake 2 gives him a fresh chance to find a way out and get back to the real world.

Dave The Diver sees you heading underneath the waves to hunt for various fish and sea life, turning them into delicious sushi dishes as you scramble to run a restaurant by night. While that's a ton to juggle on its own, the game has only just begun to surprise you with its in-depth minigames (Seahorse racing?!), varied characters, and wild plot.

Slay the Spire has that honed, intricate deck building that encourages you to experiment with the cards at your disposal. Dorfromantik brings the cozy, comfy city-building that soothes your soul. But smash the pair together, and throw in a cast of adorable animals Animal Crossing style, and you have Wild Country, a new “cozy-competitive” strategy game from indie developer Lost Native. If you’re looking for an experience that both tests and soothes your brain, Wild Country just might be your next favorite game.

Slay the Spire meets Street Fighter: bet you didn’t expect to see that on a Tuesday afternoon. Blending CCG mechanics with the high energy of fighting games, Death or Glory is an upcoming Steam adventure that will test you to your limits: either rise to the challenge or die trying – it’s your choice.

If you want to make a successful mobile game, you can do a lot worse than starting with two of its most successful games and mashing them together. That’s exactly what Deliverance and Reign aims to achieve.
