Popular Slay The Spire mod Downfall was hijacked to spread malware through Steam

The PlayStation Portal system made it possible for users to enjoy PlayStation 5 games away from the console, but requiring an internet connection to work, it cannot compare to a proper portable system, such as a custom version of the console showcased in a video shared online today.

Baldur's Gate 3 is one of the most popular games on Nexus Mods, with 80.8 million downloads at the time of writing. This puts it in the site's top ten, despite only fully launching last August, alongside the likes of Fallout 3 and Cyberpunk 2077.

Valve, the developer behind the popular digital game storefront Steam, has published some new guidelines about AI content on the platform.

In December, Wizards of the Coast committed to not using AI art in Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons, saying it requires its artists, writers, and other creative contributors «to refrain from using AI generative tools» to create its products. Despite that, MtG fans are accusing the company of using AI to create the backdrop for a promotional image of new cards—something WotC flatly denies.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth producer Hiroyuki Sakamoto touched on the challenges that come with bringing the Yakuza series to a Western audience while staying «true» to the original vision for the game. 

A popular Slay the Spire mod called Downfall was compromised over the holidays, and used to push malware to users via a Steam update. The malware in question is called Epsilon and is used to steal information from infected hardware, and was present in the standalone version of the mod on Steam for around an hour on Christmas Day.

This July, Blizzard announced it would bring back its games to Steam after several years of absence, beginning with Overwatch 2. However, the team-based first-person shooter game's debut on Valve's platform was marred by severe review bombing. Overwatch 2 actually became the lowest-rated game of all time on Steam when it first became available there. While the game isn't quite as popular as its predecessor, it still is a solid product that shouldn't be rated anywhere near as low. The main factor was the cancellation of the PvE mode, which angered fans due to the developer's broken promise, but that's not the whole story.

Slay the Princess has become a surprise indie hit, spreading through word of mouth to reach a wider audience. With all of the buzz going around, many are looking into trying it out themselves - and now the devs are urging them to do it properly.
