Five Nights at Freddy's is the next big video game adaptation to hit the big screen, following raging successes such as HBO's The Last of Us and Netflix's The Witcher series. Unfortunately for director Emma Tammi and her team, Five Nights at Freddy's isn't nearly as well received, as it's currently getting absolutely slammed on Rotten Tomatoes, with big critics calling it a snoozefest and not as scary as the video games that it's based on.

The Fallout TV series finally has a release date. In a tweet, Amazon Prime Video confirmed that the live-action adaptation of the eponymous Bethesda video game franchise will premiere April 12, 2024, exclusively on the streamer. The news comes in celebration of the annual Fallout Day — October 23 — which marks the day when the retro-futuristic in-game world was turned into a nuclear wasteland, causing survivors to scavenge and live off irradiated junk. HBO's Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are developing the series under their Kilter Films banner — billed as an original story set in a post-apocalyptic Los Angeles and will be included as Fallout universe canon.

According to THR's sources, executives told Stewart he had to be «aligned» with them regarding the show's topics, and that led to him deciding to leave.

With the streamer's gradual pivot into gaming, fans can expect some exciting development on that end as well — presumably, the ability to cloud stream games onto a TV.

Hollywood studios turning movies and TV shows into video games is nothing new. How better to attract eyeballs (and dollars) than to capitalize on the popularity of beloved characters?

Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a live-action adaptation, developer CD Projekt Red has announced. The project is being developed in collaboration with Anonymous Content, the independent media company best known for producing Emmy-winning shows like True Detective and Mr. Robot. It's unclear if this take will be a feature-length film or a TV series, but the hunt for a screenwriter has commenced, with plans to tell a brand-new story set in the futuristic neon-lit world, where sex, body modifications, and political chatter are commonplace. The developer also stressed that the adaptation is at an ‘early developmental stage,' so it'll be a while before we receive any further updates.

After 146 days, a landmark deal is going to soon be signed by the Writers' Guild of America, after it got several concessions from the producers and moguls running Hollywood. The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) remains on strike as of this writing.

The most interesting part of the Hollywood writers' new contract is the AI clause. According to news reports, it explicitly allows the studios to “train” large language models on scripts written by members of the Writers Guild. The agreement implies that permission to train an LLM on a writer's works has value. It follows that the right must be purchased from the writer — not simply taken.

Big-time film director James Cameron, the man who created what is arguably the most famous rise-of-the-machines scenario in Hollywood history, isn't worried about artificial intelligence taking over the film industry and putting thousands of people out of work. He is, however, a wee little bit concerned that it might wipe out human life as we know it.
