Publisher Bandai Namco and developer CyberConnect2 will release Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm CONNECTIONS “DLC Pack 1: Hagoromo Otsutsuki” on January 25, which adds Hagoromo Otsutsuki as a playable character.

But no level of source material accuracy can save this absolute mammoth of a game from hollow single-player content and a stale combat system that hasn’t meaningfully changed in fifteen years.

CyberConnect2's brings changes that make the flashy, fast-paced gameplay better than ever. In recent years, anime fighting games have dramatically improved their presentation and gameplay, with games like gaining an impressive competitive following. The series began by adapting Part 1 of Masashi Kishimoto's storyline. CyberConnect2's reverence for the series shined with the series' larger-than-life boss battles, intense quick-time-events sequences not seen in the anime, and a multiplayer component for friends to have their own epic ninja battles.

Years of anticipation finally became reality last night when a videogame company posted a video of somebody in a sharp trench coat and mirror visor walking down a dim hall, swivelling dramatically to eyeball the viewer, then casually drawing a pistol and walking into a roomful of unfocussed Potential. Naruto X Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections is, to be sure, a fighting game at its core. While not as rigid as Street Fighter or technical as Tekken, it does an exceptional job of continuing the legacy of the Ultimate Ninja Storm series by introducing a huge roster of over 130 characters – many of whom can interact with each other – as well as a brand new and very accessible “Simple Control Mode.” While some fans of the Ultimate Ninja Storm series might not be too hot on this totally optional simplified control scheme, the ability to ease things down a bit for newer players with simple single button attacks and movement is an excellent addition to the game, and still kept combat interesting and engaging in both the story mode and head-to-head against a real opponent. To put it bluntly, no matter how I played the game, I found myself having a blast with its quick and easy-to-grasp controls, and over-the-top visuals.

I was one of the zillions transfixed by the Wordle phenomenon. Not just on the five-letter-word guessing game, but all the clones. Every morning, I would sweat over choosing the perfect words in order to maintain my Wordle streak — which I held for a year, thank you — then launch directly into Dordle, Quordle, Octordle, and a few of the non-word games that ripped off the premise (though I never got into Worldle — haven’t done enough traveling). I followed Wordle to the New York Times after the million-dollar acquisition and felt highly competitive even after the “PARER” incident of September 2022, but like many, fell off the Wordle train pretty hard when I broke my streak on a word I refuse to remember. Please don’t make me dredge up those memories; I am only human.

Bandai Namco has finally slapped a release date on Naruto x Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections. The arena fighter, which is basically a mashup of previous Ultimate Ninja Storm games and some new Boruto stuff, will feature over 130 playable characters at launch, making this one of the largest rosters to ever grace an anime-based title.

Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm CONNECTIONS is due out for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch on November 16 in Japan and November 17 worldwide, publisher Bandai Namco and developer CyberConnect2 announced. Digital pre-orders are available now on PlayStation and Xbox platforms, with Switch to follow at a later date. A release date for PC (Steam) will be announced at a later point.

In an effort to curb fraudulent activities conducted via multiple SIM cards, the Government of India on Thursday announced a crackdown on the provision of bulk mobile connections.
