Embracer Group’s internal restructuring program has been a brutal one that has resulted in mass layoffs across a number of studios owned by the company, and the company is continuing to make cuts. The latest studios that have been hit with layoffs are 3D Realms and Slipgate Ironworks, both of which were acquired in 2021 and operate under the Saber Interactive banner.

Developer KillPixel Games and publishers 3D Realms and Fulqrum Publishing have announced that old-school shooter Wrath: Aeon of Ruin is coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox series X/S, and Nintendo Switch on April 25.

Ion Fury sequel Phantom Fury will launch for PC via Steam and GOG on April 23, publisher 3D Realms and developer Slipgate Ironworks announced.

Saber Interactive have parted ways with Embracer Group, buying back the rights to both themselves and numerous other studios in a deal initially valued at $247 million. The deal includes 38 ongoing game development projects plus the rights to 3D Realms, Slipgate Ironworks, New World Interactive, Nimble Giant, Mad Head, Digic, Fractured Byte and PR agency Sandbox Strategies, as well as Metro developers 4A Games and Pinball FX maker Zen Studios via options.

Embracer Group has sold off some assets of Saber Interactive, the developer of the long-awaited Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake, for $247 million. A couple of years ago, Embracer Group seemed poised to become a major player in the video games space as it acquired multiple key studios like Eidos Montreal, Crystal Dynamics, and Limited Run Games, reaching an incredible 110 game development companies by April 2022 with plans to buy more. One of the companies acquired by Embracer was Saber Interactive in 2020, which became one of the conglomerate’s 12 major divisions thanks to its numerous subsidiaries.

It’s been confirmed that Saber Interactive is splitting from parent company Embracer Group in a deal worth $247 million, and the former will be taking a number of projects and studios that were previously under Embracer’s ownership with it.

After having spent several years as an early access title, publisher 3D Realms has announced that Quake-inspired shooter Wrath: Aeon of Ruin is now available as a full game thanks to its 1.0 update. Check out the trailer for the 1.0 release below.

Developer Pet Project Games has announced the first major content update for its co-op horror shooter RIPOUT. The update, titled the Payload Update, brings with it a new mission type, new levels, as well as a new sidearm in the form of the Machine Pistol. Horror sci-fi co-op shooter RIPOUT is out now as an Early Access title on PC. The game puts players in the shoes of a person newly-awoken from cryogenic sleep to find ships once inhabited by humans to have been taken over by strange horrors and mutated monsters. Check out the trailer below.

The “Aftershock” expansion pack for Ion Fury will launch for PC via Steam and GOG, on October 2, publishers 3D Realms and Fulqrum Publishing, and developer Voidpoint announced. A release date for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch versions was not announced.

Publisher 3D Realms and developer Slipgate Ironworks have released a new trailer for PlayStation era-inspired dieselpunk action RPG Combustion as part of Realms Deep 2023.

Cooperative horror first-person shooter RIPOUT will launch in Early Access for PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG on October 24, publisher 3D Realms and developer Pet Project Games announced. A full release is planned across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.

“Blasphemous” management simulation game The Kindeman Remedy will launch for PC via Steam on November 16, publisher 3D Realms and developer Troglobytes Games announced.

Enhanced first-person shooter remake Kingpin: Reloaded will launch for PC via Steam on December 5, publishers 3D Realms and Interplay, and developer Slipgate Ironworks announced. A release date for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch versions were not announced.

Publisher 3D Realms and developer Jasozz Games have released the “Interlude” chapter for horror-themed first-person shooter CULTIC for PC via Steam.

Publisher 3D Realms and Pinstripe developer Atmos Games have announced Twisted Tower, a “Willy Wonka meets BioShock” first-person shooter for PC (Steam). A release date was not announced.

A demo for road movie-inspired first-person shooter Phantom Fury is now available for PC via Steam, publisher 3D Realms and developer Slipgate Ironworks announced.

First-person shooter WRATH: Aeon of Ruin will leave Early Access and launch for PC via Steam, GOG, Humble Store on February 27, 2024, publishers 3D Realms and Fulqrum Publishing, and developer KillPixel announced. A release date for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch versions were not announced.

3D Realms will develop Point N’ Sheep-developed retro-style action adventure game Bloodless for PC (Steam), the company announced. A release date was not announced.
