A new rumor suggests that the next Mortal Kombat 1 Kameo fighter will be an alternate-timeline version of Scorpion, with Harumi Hasashi donning the iconic yellow ninja mask instead of her husband Hanzo. One of the biggest additions to come from Moral Kombat 1 is the Kameo system, which allows players to select a supporting character from a separate roster to assist in matches. Most of these secondary combatants are classic versions of existingcharacters from the original timeline, which Fire God Liu Kang rebooted at the end of Mortal Kombat 11.
NetherRelam has been building on Mortal Kombat 1’s roster with Kombat Pack 1’s line-up of guest fighters, and there have been new Kameos to go alongside the new additions to the main line-up. First came Tremor, who arrived on the battlefield of Mortal Kombat 1 not too long after the arrival of Invincible’s Viltrumite warrior Omni-Man back in November. Then Khamelon was released in January, a few weeks after Quan Chi joined the fray. Finally, Mortal Kombat 1 fans were introduced to Janet Cage, an alternate universe take on Johnny Cage, in March — not too long after DC anti-hero Peacemaker became part of the main roster.
Now that Ermac is a playable Mortal Kombat 1 character in Early Access, fans are wondering when the next DLC Kameo Fighter will be confirmed. A potential clue came from a now-deleted post on Jiwon Christine Ra's Instagram page (via Comicbook.com), in which the model seemingly confirmed that she will be the face of Harumi Hasashi in Mortal Kombat 1. She also specifically referenced MK 1’s Kameo system further down in the post, causing many to suspect that Harumi will be added as an alternate version of Scorpion like MK 1's Janet Cage before her.
Harumi Hasashi is a relatively minor character in the sprawling Mortal Kombat mythos, but she plays a vital role in the tragic backstory of series mascot Scorpion. She was the wife of Hanzo Hasashi, the man who would eventually become the undead ninja, and the murders of both herself and her young son Satoshi at the hands of the Lin Qui drive his path of vengeance in the original Mortal Kombat timeline. In the new continuity started in Mortal Kombat 1, Harumi is alive and well, and instead marries Kuai Liang — the second Sub-Zero of the old Mortal Kombat games and Scorpion of the new MK 1 timeline.
The Scorpion-centric first season of Mortal Kombat 1’s Invasion mode featured an alternate timeline version of Harumi Hasashi that has taken up the mantle of the vengeful ninja instead of either Hanzo or Kuai Liang, so this iteration could be the next DLC Kameo fighter if Jiwon Christine Ra’s Instagram post is to be believed. Of course, it’s also possible that she could have been mistaken, and Harumi will be
