Like previous entries in the series, Mortal Kombat 1 is rolling out plenty of DLC fighters, with the game’s first “Kombat Pack” so far serving up Omni-Man from Invincible, Quan Chi, Peacemaker from Suicide Squad, and Ermac. And now NetherRealm Studios has provided a first peek at the second-to-last Kombat Pack fighter – Homelander from the Amazon series The Boys.
The Homelander teaser trailer goes by quick, but it packs in plenty of icky details, including the dude indulging in his love of milk (which definitely didn’t come from the grocery store in this case). Of course, we also get an equally gross peek at a fatality. The one thing that isn’t quite right is the voice, as Homelander actor Antony Starr won’t be lending his pipes Mortal Kombat 1. That’s a bit surprising, as MK1 managed to lock down the likes of John Cena for Peacemaker, but sometimes these things just don’t work out. The teaser also provides peek at our latest Kameo fighter, Ferra, who now seems to be separated from her big buddy Tor, so check it out for yourself, below.

Homelander is available as part of Mortal Kombat 1’s first Kombat Pack, which will set you back $40. In addition to Homelander, and the already-released, Omni-Man, Quan Chi, Peacemaker, and Ermac, the pack will also Takahashi Takeda. You can find Wccftech’s Fatality/strategy guides for the already-released Kombat Pack fighters right here.
Mortal Kombat 1 can be played on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and Switch. No word yet on when Homelander will be released, as the trailer doesn’t provide a date, although the description does mention The Boys Season 4 will launch on July 13. I don’t expect we’ll be waiting that long for Homelander to hit MK1, as that would be an unusually long gap between first trailer and release. A release later in May or June seems more likely, but we’ll see.

Xbox fans, and some of their employees, were blindsided earlier this month when Microsoft announced a number of their studios were being shuttered, including the “gut stab” closure of Arkane Austin, developer of the acclaimed Prey and the more troubled Redfall. Following the announcement Arkane Austin was shutting up shop, it was reported that the team had been working on additional updates for Redfall, including one that would deliver a long-promised offline mode. Unfortunately, at the time, it seemed unlikely any of these promised updates would come to fruition.
Update: Whoops! It looks like one of Ubisoft's channels accidentally leaked the Assassin's Creed Shadows release date before the official reveal -- November 15, 2024.
Sigh… here we go again. We just got through a major brouhaha involving Sony requiring PSN linking for Helldivers 2 after initially not asking for it at launch, which led to a major backlash and review bombing campaign and, eventually, Sony reversing course. While some would say the reaction was rather overblown, one of the issues was that a number of countries in the world simply don’t have access to PSN, which led to Helldivers 2 being delisted in those regions (in fact, even Sony’s after reversal on the issue, they’re still delisted).
One of the focuses of the recent RPG-shooter Remnant II is build crafting, with the game’s Archetypes (the game’s name for classes) being at the core of that experience. The new Remnant II: The Forgotten Kingdom DLC adds a additional Archetype, the Invoker, and like many of the game’s classes, it needs to be unlocked in a very specific way, but don’t worry, we’ve taken the mystery out of it.

No Rest for the Wicked, the new action-rpg/roguelike from Ori developer Moon Studios is out now in early access and eliciting a mix of responses. Most have been struck by the game’s obvious potential, but some have also complained the game is a bit overly demanding when it comes to PC performance, particularly considering it’s an isometric Diablo-like (albeit a very nice-looking one).
