Mortal Kombat 1 has revealed the Homelander trailer, presenting the first in-game look at how the character of The Boys will be portrayed in Netherrealm Studios' game. Mortal Kombat 1 players are anxiously awaiting Homelander's debut in the game, as he will expand the cast of characters with what will surely be a very powerful addition.
Before Homelander, Mortal Kombat 1 players saw the arrival of familiar faces and equally iconic guests. It all started with Mortal Kombat 1 adding Omni-Man, who was followed by Quan Chi, the long-awaited first appearance of DC's Peacemaker, and then Ermac, who is the most recently added Kombatant. With Homelander being the second-last character in Kombat Pack 1, there is huge anticipation for the arrival of the supervillain, with the trailer providing an exciting sneak peek at his finishing moves.
Mortal Kombat 1's Homelander's trailer shows Liu Kang saying that Homelander «has chosen war with a god,» with the leader of The Seven retorting that Liu Kang is the one who chose it. After Liu Kang uses his iconic kick, Homelander goes into attack mode, with the trailer showcasing his Fatalities. In the first, he hits Liu Kang with his laser vision until he explodes Kang's head. In the second Fatality, Homelander throws Liu Kang into the air with a powerful punch, and the God of Fire is hit by an airplane.
While Homelander is the center of attention in the trailer, another highlight of the video is the appearance of Ferra. The video doesn't give much screen time to Kotal Kahn's servant, who debuted in Mortal Kombat 10 alongside the masked giant brute Torr. Now without Torr, Mortal Kombat 1 players can see the victory animation in which Ferra appears leaping into the air, and the one from the Versus screen, which shows Ferra sitting on a pile of severed heads.
Homelander is the penultimate character from Kombat Pack 1 to join Mortal Kombat 1, but no release date has been set for him yet. Despite this, players recalled the premiere of The Boys Season 4 on June 13, speculating that Netherrealm Studios could use The Boys' return to promote Homelander's addition to the game, droppung him at a similar time. Ferra is the last Kameo fighter from Kombat Pack 1, and players also don't know when she'll arrive in the game. Meanwhile, Mortal Kombat 1 will get its next Kameo this week, with Mavado joining the fight.
