A Pokemon fan artist redesigned the ghost Pokemon called Chandelure as a Kalosian regional variant with a new type pairing and shared their work with other trainers. The Pokemon fan artist also gave their new Kalosian Chandelure a short backstory to match their design and received praise for their efforts.
Known as the Luring Pokemon, Chandelure is a Ghost and Fire dual-type Pokemon that first appeared in Pokemon Black and White. Chandelure is the final evolution of the Litwick line and evolves from Lampent when exposed to a Dusk Stone. Though it was not originally part of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Chandelure and its previous forms can be found in the Teal Mask DLC. In Pokemon battles, Chandelure is defined by its high special attack and speed statistics. Coupled with abilities including Flame Body and Flash Fire that can neutralize Fire-type attacks, and the Hidden Ability Infiltrator to bypass barriers such as Light Screen, the Luring Pokemon is a versatile sweeper that can be useful for most Pokemon teams.
As a result of its versatility and its design, Chandelure is considered by fans to be among the top Ghost Pokemon. With Pokemon Legends: Z-A in the works, one Pokemon fan gave Chandelure a Kalosian counterpart. On Reddit, a user named WishfulWren posted their Kalosian Chandelure artwork on the r/pokemon subreddit. From the start, WishfulWren changed Chandelure's two types to Steel and Fire. Compared to the original Chandelure's design, the Kalosian Chandelure was given red eyes and a menacing smile. Some additional curved horns were scattered throughout its black metal frame. The ghostly purple flames throughout Chandelure's design remained unchanged, but its central flame was replaced with a metal arm shaped like a fire. The Shiny Kalosian Chandelure retained the same colors as the normal Shiny Chandelure, with gray metal frames, orange candle fire, and blue eyes. WishfulWren gave Kalosian Chandelure a PokeDex entry that stated a Kalosian chandelier maker was so good at their craft, that the Luring Pokemon sprang to life afterward.
With the types of Fire and Steel, WishfulWren's Kalosian Chandelure had the same types as powerful Pokemon such as Heatran. While this would make it useful in some battles, Kalosian Chandelure would take quadruple damage from Ground-type attacks such as Earthquake. However, WishfulWren did not state what moves, statistics, or abilities Kalosian Chandelure would have compared to its base counterpart.
With Pokemon fan artists making regional forms of their favorite creatures, it is clear that regional variants are something that The Pokemon Company can bank on for engagement. It remains to be seen if Chandelure will appear in Pokemon Legends: Z-A in some capacity.
