Smilegate Barcelona, the studio established in 2020 to develop an open-world AAA console title, has reportedly been closed.

On March 31st, Ubisoft's open world racing game The Crew will be turned off for good. As of right now, no one can buy the ten-year-old racer, but come the end of the month, even those that did buy it will no longer be able to play it.

Star Wars Outlaws is officially supposed to launch sometime this year, and though Ubisoft and developer Massive Entertainment haven’t yet nailed down a narrower release timing for the action-adventure title, recent developments seem to be indicating that it’ll be out sooner than some might expect.

Ubisoft’s strategy for releasing games on PC has frustrated many in recent years, particularly with the lack of Steam versions of games at launch. Many of the company’s titles do, of course, eventually end up releasing for the platform belatedly, and another one will soon be following suit.

From Skull and Bones to Beyond Good and Evil 2 and many others, Ubisoft has been no stranger to games being stuck in limbo in recent years, and it seems another one of its in-development projects is currently facing similar struggles. Multiplayer shooter XDefiant has faced numerous delays in recent months, and though Ubisoft said earlier this year that the game would launch before April, with March now nearly over, that’s look incredibly unlikely.

A Ubisoft executive has denied a newly emerged report suggesting that XDefiant is being delayed because of Call of Duty. The official also offered a minor status update on XDefiant as part of the move.

Proof has emerged that the release date for the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws may be much sooner than many gamers are anticipating. First revealed in June 2023, Star Wars Outlaws remains one of the most anticipated games of this year, although concrete news on the title has been hard to come by of late.

The new Halo crossover for Rainbow Six Siege contains a cool reference to Reach, one of the main planets from the Halo series. Although the addition of Spartan Kelly-087 to Rainbow Six Siege was the main attraction of this crossover, it seems there are a few secrets hidden away, too.

I had a surprisingly cogent conversation with an environmentally conscious NPC about the ethics of eco-terrorism, a completely off-script conversation made possible through AI.

When Ubisoft and developer Massive Entertainment formally unveiled Star Wars Outlaws last year, the open world action-adventure title was officially handed a 2024 launch window, and though further details on when the game will launch have been scant since then, there are indications that that could change soon.

Ubisoft has never been one to shy away from new and upcoming technology, and as you'd expect, it's been experimenting with implementation of generative AI in video games. The publisher unveiled its NEO NPC project at GDC, an early prototype that aims to explore how AI tech can make in-game characters and experiences more immersive.

Last year, Ubisoft announced that it had created an AI tool that could potentially generate NPC dialogue, much to the dismay of pretty much everyone. Ubisoft's games have never really had the most expressive or interesting NPCs, and many feared that giving them AI-generated dialogue would make them even blander than they already are.

Ubisoft has changed the way players will be able to interact with NPCs going forward. Ubisoft has shared a post-launch roadmap for its acclaimed series revival Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, which promises to introduce the likes of a permadeath mode, boss rush mode, and story DLC across four updates starting next Wednesday 20th March.

Ubisoft has revealed a roadmap of incoming updates, modes and DLC for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, building up to new story DLC later in 2024. Outside of the new story DLC, all of this will be delivered through free title updates, which is a lovely touch.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Ubisoft's 2D metroidvania take on its classic franchise, will receive a host of new items, features and a story DLC as part of its freshly announced post-launch roadmap. Wowing critics and audiences with its fluid, challenging platforming, satisfying 2D combat, and impeccably designed boss fights, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown was released in January to glowing reviews, and is one of 2024's earliest Game of the Year contenders.

After promising free content and new modes for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown in the coming months, Ubisoft has confirmed three upcoming updates and story DLC. The first update, Warrior’s Path, arrives on March 20th and adds permadeath and speedrunning modes. Protagonist Sargon will also receive some new outfits.

Tom Clancy’s The Division Resurgence by Ubisoft has delayed its launch yet once again. The third-person shooter was supposed to roll out later this month, but that’s not happening now. The launch date has now been pushed to December 2024. I know, it’s quite a drag!

An Uno player has discovered that Ubisoft has finally issued a fix for the game's multiplayer component after a couple of years of being unplayable online. However, with its availability on mainstream platforms, Coming Home now has the potential to reach a much wider audience.

Publisher Ubisoft and developer Old Skull Games have announced that Valiant Hearts: Coming Home is out now. The follow-up release for Valiant Hearts: The Great War is available on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

Ubisoft's latest release, Skull and Bones, has seen its price reduced by $25 only three weeks after its release, though it has since returned to full price. Skull and Bones is Ubisoft's second $70 AAA title behind December 2023's first-person adventure shooter Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. As the price of video games has risen from the $60 standard over the past several years, many gamers have become more selective over which games they choose to spend money on, live service titles especially.

Publisher Ubisoft and developer Old Skull Games will release World War I-inspired adventure game Valiant Hearts: Coming Home for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC on March 7. It is available now in regions where it is already March 7. A collection including both Valiant Hearts: The Great War and Valiant Hearts: Coming Home will also be available.

Assassin's Creed Red, the next game in Ubisoft's popular series, is starting to sound like it's a lot closer to Assassin's Creed Valhalla — at least in terms of structure — than people might realise. This is according to an exclusive report from Insider Gaming, which suggests that the upcoming title is very much built upon the foundations of Valhalla and its core systems.
