CI Games and Hexworks have released Lords of the Fallen update 1.5 – Master of Fate. This free update for the Soulslike action RPG is the last in a sequence of rapid updates after a troubled initial launch, but also a new Advance Game Modifier System that can twist the game into being more of a Roguelike, even.

Lords of the Fallen, last year's action RPG from developer Hexworks, is said to be coming to Xbox Game Pass later this month.

We just can't get enough punishing fantasy horror action RPGs. Lords of the Fallen makes some significant changes and additions to the usual Soulslike co-op formula, and the head of developer Hexworks reckons it makes the RPG's multiplayer just plain "better than other Soulslikes."

The new soulslike Lords of the Fallen got hammered pretty hard in its first few days on Steam, primarily over complaints about its dodgy performance. For some players it's been fine, but others encountered issues with low frame rates, stuttering, and crashes. Some people on Steam said they weren't even able to access the main menu.

Lords of the Fallen is looking like a good bet for players seeking their grimdark fix on PS5. With there still no sign of a solid release date for Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, the dark fantasy epic is shaping up to be a real treat for masochists seeking a mechanical challenge. It's been confirmed to feature the performance and quality modes we've come to expect on PS5, which is another good sign.

Not too long ago, developer Hexworks confirmed that its upcoming Soulslike action RPG Lords of the Fallen will feature a 60 FPS option on consoles upon its launch in October. Now, the developer has provided further details on exactly what its performance and resolution targets will be across two graphics modes.

Being a meaty 25-30-hour experience that will encourage replays with multiple endings, the promise of co-op, New Game Plus, and more, Hexworks and CI Games’ upcoming Soulslike action RPG Lords of the Fallen is clearly not going to be lacking in content, but like with any game these days, that doesn’t mean we won’t get even more of it with post-launch additions.

Hexworks’ Lords of the Fallen releases in October, offering Dark Souls-like action for action RPG fans. How long can you expect it to last, especially since the world is five times larger than the first game?
