Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) finally got its first trailer earlier this month (December 4), and while it arrived to much applause, there was at least one person who didn't look upon it so favorably.

Developer Hexworks has issued a long list of updates to its Soulslike following its October 13 launch, improving performance, stability, and optimisation, and making significant balance changes. Enemy density has been “extensively” re-proportioned throughout the game, with some enemies seeing up to 30% fewer foes. Other balance tweaks including reducing the accuracy of ranged enemies at long distance, and improving enemy leashing to players aren’t pursued as far, thereby reducing overwhelming mob clashes.
As already announced, developer Hexworks recently finalised a complete overhaul to all bosses in the game “to ensure they are suitably challenging at that point in the player’s journey”. To this end, AI has been significantly improved, many bosses now have additional and more aggressive movesets, and hit points and damage outputs have been rebalanced.
“Alongside the significant progress already made to performance and stability, we’re confident the latest difficulty balancing updates truly nail the sweet spot between challenge and enjoyability,” said Hexworks executive producer Saul Gascon.
Hexworks has already released a roadmap of its several free updates and content drops coming by the end of 2023.
Lords of the Fallen, a reboot/sequel to the 2014 Souls-like of the same name, launched in October to strong critical and commercial reception, selling one million copies in its first 10 days on sale.
In our 8/10 review, IGN said: "Lords of the Fallen is an awesome Souls-like with a fantastic dual-realities premise, even when performance shortcomings and wimpy bosses crash the party."

The Den of Wolves trailer at The Game Awards first announces that we're looking at a new game from from the creator of Payday: The Heist and Payday 2, but then goes on to show something that has very little resemblance to a bank robbery: a pair of men growling at each other in a sci-fi dungeon that could've appeared in Cyberpunk 2077. So, what the heck is this game? As implied by the Payday connection, Den of Wolves is a four-player co-op game from 10 Chambers, the Stockholm-based studio co-founded by Payday 1 and 2 designer Ulf Andersson. But it's Andersson's vision for, like, Payday 5. Rather than present-day burglaries, Den of Wolves takes place in 2097 in a city run by unregulated corporations who've secured their global stock exchange against AI-powered hackers by somehow using biological encryption—that is, living human brains. It's a heist game inspired by Inception, The Matrix, Ghost in the Shell, and Blade Runner—in short, «mindfuck sci-fi,» as Den of Wolves narrative director Simon Viklund (also a Payday alum) put it to me when we met last week. The twist in The Game Awards trailer gives us a glimpse of what he's talking about, as the corpo's interrogation of some punk's subconscious is revealed to actually be the opposite. Clearly we're going to invade some mind palaces in this thing. I didn't get to see any Den of Wolves gameplay beyond the snippets of shooting everyone can see in the trailer, but Viklund spoke at length about the studio's vision during a presentation and interview.
