Mark my words; we’re about to be buried under a deluge of clones of Vampire Survivors. Right now, it’s already a drizzle, but it reached indie game escape velocity, and that means everyone will be trying to burn the same fuel.

In a rather unusual crossover moment, there’s now Among Us DLC for Vampire Survivors – yes, really. The ‘Emergency Meeting’ DLC will be released for the game on 18th December on PC and Xbox, with Switch and mobile versions coming soon after.
If you don’t want to wait for a new reason to play the game, then there’s always the Adventures update, which is now live and adds mini-adventures that remix the game’s content for different characters
Vampire Survivors: Emergency meeting twists the Vampire hunting of the reverse bullet hell game in a new direction, throwing in Crewmates, weapons, power-ups and a new stage that have all been inspired by the social deducrion sensation Among Us – It’s like 2020’s biggest indie game and 2022’s biggest indie game came together to have a weird baby.
Emergency Meeting will add 9 characters, 15 weapons, 1 stage, 20 unlocks and a bespoke Adventure, all for the eye-watering sum of £1.99 / $2.49 / €2,49. Eye-watering in that you might cry to see a price that’s positively “micro” when compared to other games.
Speaking of Adventures, the Adventures update is out now across all platforms. This is a free content update that remixes the existing game in new ways around self-contained mini stories. Each Adventure offers a new progression path, so you can feel like you’re starting the game again, but without actually losing your unlocks from the main game.
The update has two Adventures that are free for all players, with one additional tale for the Legacy of the Moonspell DLC right now, and then a further Adventure for the Emergency Meeting DLC.
Vampire Survivors was a big hit last year as it went through Early Access and sauntered through to release on PC and Xbox. It turns the bullet hell genre on its head, mixing it with slightly janky visuals, enjoyably broken gameplay, and a thoroughly daft sense of humour. In an unexpected turn, Vampire Survivors picked up the Best Game award at the 2023 BAFTA Games Awards, doing so ahead of AAA juggernaut God of War: Ragnarök.

Wild and weird action roguelike Picayune Dreams released from Early Access recently, meaning it's definitely time to enjoy this thing if you're a fan of horde survival roguelikes, bullet hells, or games that get all meta and screwy. Populated by a cast of surrealist 3D renders that look like rejected 1990s clipart and backed up with a very serious drum and bass breakcore soundtrack, this is an indie that's decidedly, committedly into a specific aesthetic.
Metal: Hellsinger is a neat rhythm shooter, in which you blast demons in time to the beat of heavy metal.
