But with publisher NetEase evidently prepared to splash the cash, Hangzhou-based Everstone is plotting to put China at the very heart of the genre with the forthcoming Where Winds Meet. 

Steam’s Winter Sale has officially begun, and it’s discounting thousands of titles through Jan. 4, 2024. Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, the colourful and cool spiritual successor to Jet Set Radio, was released digitally on PS5 and PS4 at the start of the month. The title is getting a couple of gorgeous physical editions that may interest collectors, with developer Team Reptile, distribution partner Skybound Games, and iam8bit together announcing the collaboration.

Those pining for SEGA's long dormant series, Jet Set Radio, should definitely have Bomb Rush Cyberfunk on their radar. Developed by indie dev Team Reptile, this new game looks to be about as close to a new Jet Set as you can go without troubling SEGA's legal team. It's now available on Steam and Nintendo Switch, but a release on PS5 and PS4 is just around the corner.

For every Jet Set Radio fan out there, Bomb Rush maneuvers is a return to form to the good old days of cel-shading, funky dances, and graffiti tagging. The difference is that players are more responsible for gathering points from the various tricks and maneuvers characters can do. It’s been over 20 years since the Jet Set Radio series has seen a new entry and supplied gaming with a style-filled, funky adrenaline rush. Thankfully, Team Reptile has been hard at work for years to create a spiritual successor that plays some of the hits of the past, but does its own thing as well in Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. Since the moment it was first shown off in motion, it was clear that that the team was looking to take the best of what worked about Jet Set Radio and Jet Set Radio Future (which we covered in our Graveyard) and improve upon it when possible, and it looks we’ve seeing that come to fruition here.

Team Reptile has been hard at work on their latest title, a spiritual successor in gameplay and style to Jet Set Radio and Jet Set Radio Future. Bomb Rush Cyberfunk‘s sleek cel-shaded, Dreamcast-esque graphics are just the start. Team Reptile wants to bring the whole shebang together with music from Hideki Naganuma, the man behind the original. Now, their latest trailer shows a whole lot of what’s to come, and for more platforms.

Team Reptile’s Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is out on August 12th for Nintendo Switch and PC, but other platforms will only have to wait two weeks to play it. In a new trailer, the developer confirmed that PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4 and Xbox One players would receive the title on September 1st for $39.99.

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, the upcoming game from Team Reptile with major Jet Set Radio vibes, is also heading to PlayStation and Xbox. It was initially announced for Switch and PC with a release date of August 18th. Now, the developer has revealed that PlayStation and Xbox gamers only have to wait a couple of weeks more, because the title will be released for their consoles two weeks later, on September 1st.
