Nails the atmosphere and aesthetic of Jet Set Radio, especially with the cutscenes.
Interesting story with involving characters. Controls feel nice and responsive.
Bad-
Not very challenging, and mechanics like tagging feel overly simple.
Combat gets the job done but still feels awkward. Gameplay loop can feel repetitive when it comes to challenging rival gangs.
Thoughts-
If Bomb Rush Cyberfunk achieves anything, it’s in proving that there’s truly no such thing as “The End” on the streets.
It’s a story that will live on, hopefully creating as many interpretations of Jet Set Radio’s legacy as it does glorious homages. Maybe it could serve as a base for Team Reptile to flesh out its ambitions and flex its design muscles. For now, I’m content in basking in the nostalgia, even if it doesn’t outright transport me back to the glory days of the Dreamcast.

The Bomberman games, in one guise or another, have been around since the early 1980’s, and the fact that the series is still popular is indicative of how compelling the arcade gameplay is. Navigate a maze, drop a bomb, blow up a friend to much hilarity; repeated over dozens of iterations. Considering how well-practiced the gameplay formula is, it’s absolutely jaw-dropping that Super Bomberman R 2 plays a pretty lousy game of Bomberman.

Mortal Kombat 1 just launched for players with a premium edition of the game, and it's going down well so far. Reviews are mostly positive, with our own George Foster giving it 4/5. However, that doesn't mean every aspect of the game is being warmly received, with some complaining that the latest instalment feels a little rough around the edges.
Baldur’s Gate 3 seems to be the game that keeps on giving. As more and more players jump into the RPG, there are more discoveries and ways players find to twist and break the game to their will, whether that be with their builds or an odd choice of item.
Head to the starting line and rev up your engines, we’re off to a flying start with NASCAR Arcade Rush and it’s time to dive in to the new arcade racer from GameMill entertainment to see if this high-action twist on the American past-time of driving round in circles, makes for an entertaining arcade game for 2023.
