Palia, a cosy, free-to-play life sim, arrived on Steam just a couple of weeks ago. This week, developers Singularity 6 laid off 35% of their staff, thought to be around 49 people.

Hotfix 0.179.1 for Palia has just dropped, delivering a number of fixes for issues that have been causing game crashes and freezes. This follows the recent release of a patch for the MMO that introduced new content, features, and quality-of-life improvements.

Singularity Six has revealed a plethora of new content coming as part of Palia's new April update. Patch 0.179 marks an exciting time for Palia fans, with the game receiving several quality-of-life improvements as well as game-enhancing features.

Palia, a cute-looking life sim MMO inspired by e.g. Stardew Valley, has been in beta since last year, but now it's officially out on Steam, where many more people can download and play it. With this launch comes a pretty substantial update - Patch 0.178, full notes here - which adds a new questline and Temple to explore, new furniture, and a bunch of new spring flowers and trees to grow in your garden. There is also a giant plushi frog, listed under 'Adjustments'. The patch notes say simply "What does he want? Does he come in peace?" which makes him sound way more sinister than I think he is, but as you can see from the screenshot, he isn't not sinister.

Palia is now available on Steam, giving gamers a new cozy game to check out. There has been a recent influx of cozy games, becoming seemingly more popular in the current generation than any other. This newer addition, Palia, has been accessible elsewhere in the form of an open beta for some time. The community-sim MMO allows players to build a life and make friends in a vibrant fantasy world that features elements of crafting, decoration, and even romance.

Palia’s March update is on the way, and will coincide with the game’s Steam launch on March 25th. The team previewed the new temple, new decor items, and more on the way in the patch, and gave a glimpse at future features in development.

Palia is about to make its debut on another platform, with Singularity 6 announcing the game’s arrival on Steam on March 25th. 

In , players must complete repetitive tasks to gain materials or craft new items, which is made a bit better by filling up your Focus. Focus is not the same as stamina in other games, as players need to increase the bar before doing a task instead of refilling it afterward. Getting more Focus will earn more XP and better rewards for the tasks that you are completing.

After its most recent dev update (and the final one of the year), the Singularity 6 team still had another surprise left when it came to Palia — the Nintendo Switch release date. This achievement comes as little surprise, given the game's growing popularity and dedicated community. Their Discord growth has been exponential, with the Discord community nearly doubling since the commencement of the Closed Beta.

Palia is a pretty big world for players to explore, and getting yourself a glider can make your adventures a little easier to navigate, and help you cover more ground quickly. It also can help you reach some new places and find a couple of goodies in the process.
