Sadly in this day and age, that's something organizers of public events like The Game Awards have to bear in mind. «Yeah, we are,» Keighley said when asked if security would be beefed up this year to prevent stage crashers. «We don't want to talk about that stuff too publicly, just because it's security and we definitely have plans, and we're trying to do all we can to keep me safe, but also everyone watching the show, in the audience, participating in the show and everything. »So yeah, it's something we're certainly thinking about. We appreciate the concern. Believe me, that's something that's top of mind for us, but we also want to put on a great show that celebrates these games, and celebrates our love for videogames. So that's an important thing to keep in mind as well. But I appreciate the concern around that."

There are plenty of excited fans about a new installment inbound for Death Stranding. The famed developer started his own studio after Hideo Kojima split off from Konami. The future of E3 is continuing to look bleak, but the games industry has seen the emergence of another major summer event in the form of Summer Game Fest. The event has been running for four years at this point and seen quite a bit of success, and unsurprisingly, it will be returning for its fifth year in 2025.

E3 2023 was canceled back in March, and PAX organizer ReedPop was in charge of organizing the event, the first of a multi-year contract. However, E3's overseer the ESA has announced this partnership will not continue.

With ReedPop no longer involved, the ESA is working on new plans to evolve and reinvent E3.

Airing tomorrow night at the time of writing, Gamescom Opening Night Live should prove to be a decent show — provided your expectations are kept in check. As per organiser and host Geoff Keighley, this year's event will focus on games that we already know about, rather than surprise announcements. Now, that may not sound hugely exciting, but it's important to note that there are a lot of promising PS5 titles that need release dates or gameplay deep dives. Geoff shouldn't be short of things to show (although as always, we're not anticipating any additional info on PlayStation Studios projects).
