Elden Ring Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC Said to Launch on February 5 2024 and Will Reportedly be Shown at TGA23

Now that Microsoft has officially acquired Activision Blizzard King, the rumour mills are swirling about what’s next. Much of that talk has centred on Microsoft’s plans for Xbox on mobile, given that King was actually one of the key reasons Microsoft was so keen on the acquisition.

The Top Racer series was something of a hidden gem in the 16-bit and 64-bit days when it was known as Top Gear in North America and Top Racer internationally. It was a blend of traditional racing with an OutRun-esque visual style and killer soundtracks and served as the primary influence alongside OutRun and this franchise’s own predecessor in the Lotus Challenge series, for one of my favorite racing games ever, Horizon Chase Turbo by Aquiris. While Top Racer 1, Top Racer 2, and the future-set Top Racer 3000 are existing releases, there will also be a crossover with Aquiris titled Top Racer Crossroads. The latter doesn’t have footage shown for it, but does appear to be a blend of Top Racer content in the more modern-day Horizon Chase art style. Top Racer used things like comic book-style speech bubbles and those will be featured in Crossroads, which could wind up being the real hidden gem in this whole collection.

Spider-Man 2 fans are wondering where the heck Taskmaster is during the events of the campaign, as he can be spotted on Kraven's hunting list but isn't seen or mentioned anywhere else.

While Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 topped the UK physical charts for the week, Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. Wonder still performed well. It debuted second in the region and is already the fifth biggest physical launch of the year, right behind the superhero title, per Chris Dring of Games Industry on Twitter.

The release date for the slimmer and lighter mid-gen refresh of the PS5 has seemingly leaked online, alongside details about its first bundle. As per reliable tipster Billbil-kun — notorious for accurately leaking monthly PS Plus games ahead of time — the new PlayStation consoles with smaller form factor will go on sale November 10 in the US before spreading out to other regions; both disc and digital versions. A bit before that, on November 8, Sony would be bundling it with the newly launched Marvel's Spider-Man 2 at $559.99, which is the same amount as the existing standard edition bundle. While not explicitly mentioned, the content should be the same, with a digital voucher for the game, alongside a themed controller.

FromSoft games are, first and foremost, redolent with drip, and Elden Ring is no different. Sure, there's something about bosses, a man with a pot for a head and the Game of Thrones guy in there, but 2022's game of the year is above all a beautiful and expansive catwalk. See?

For my money, web-swinging around New York City in Marvel’s Spider-Man is perhaps the singular best game mechanic I’ve come across in the last decade or so. It feels so incredibly right, and almost everything else in that game is built off it. I never really wanted to use fast-travel features, because swinging around was much more fun, and finding hidden missions and helping citizens in trouble as you traverse NYC is almost as rewarding as following the game’s main story. Of course, a great mechanic isn’t enough to make a great game, but Spider-Man is one of the most successful open-world style games I can think of, because it felt packed without being overwhelming.
