Five Nights at Freddy's is the next big video game adaptation to hit the big screen, following raging successes such as HBO's The Last of Us and Netflix's The Witcher series. Unfortunately for director Emma Tammi and her team, Five Nights at Freddy's isn't nearly as well received, as it's currently getting absolutely slammed on Rotten Tomatoes, with big critics calling it a snoozefest and not as scary as the video games that it's based on.

When the first Five Nights at Freddy’s live-action film began filming in 2022, fans of the jumpscare-heavy horror series were thrilled. Excited to see how their favorite animatronics would appear on the silver screen, people arrived at theaters in droves late last year, making the film an easy success. Today, it was announced that Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is getting a sequel in the fall of 2025.

Five Nights at Freddy’s, the mostly reviled 2023 horror game adaptation that was also a colossal financial hit, is coming back to movie theaters. Universal Pictures announced a Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 during its CinemaCon 2024 presentation on Wednesday.

The possessed-animatronics horror video game Five Nights at Freddy’s is less than a decade old, but a movie version has been in the works almost since the game launched, which seems especially protracted for a development process. Warner Bros. bought the movie rights in 2015, and the project moved over to Blumhouse a couple of years later. Game creator Scott Cawthon wrote and rewrote the script, while kid-horror filmmakers like Gil Kenan (Monster House) and Chris Columbus (Gremlins, the first Harry Potter and Percy Jackson movies) signed on and jumped off the project.

YouTuber Markiplier has revealed why he had no choice but to turn down a role in the upcoming Five Nights at Freddy's movie.

Ever since the first trailer for the Five Nights at Freddy's movie dropped, fans of the series have been wondering as to whether YouTube superstar Markiplier would have some kind of secret cameo role. For a while now, Five Nights at Freddy's fans have been raging at the movie's depiction of the iconic animatronics, specifically the color of their eyes. Back when the first ever trailer for the movie started leaking all over social media, fans were immediately upset with the glowing red eyes, calling them "goofy" despite them belonging to a giant robot teddy bear. While not a shared opinion amongst fans, they were hated enough to cause a bit of a stink.
