Assassin's Creed Mirage, the open-world action-adventure title from Ubisoft, will launch on iOS devices on June 6, the studio has announced. First announced for Apple devices in September last year, Assassin's Creed Mirage will arrive on the App Store for iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPad Air and iPad Pro with M1 chip or later, making it the first console Assassin's Creed title that can be played natively on mobile devices.

Apple's latest update to the App Store's app and review policies has included a section about retro game emulation, meaning developers can distribute emulators through the App Store, though with a number of rules and regulations. Apple's devices have restrictions on running external source code, such as video game emulators. Due to the shaky legal and copyright issues that also come with video game emulators, Apple has never officially distributed them on the App Store.

The European Union has targeted Apple over the past few years for monopolistic and anti-competitive practices, forcing the company to allow alternate app stores and other features in the EU. Now, the United States government is suing Apple on similar grounds.

Meta Platforms, Microsoft, Elon Musk's X and Match Group on Wednesday joined "Fortnite" video game maker Epic Games' protest that Apple has failed to honor a court-ordered injunction governing payments in its lucrative App Store.

Ubisoft has released a new Invincible mobile game, based on Robert Kirkman's popular comic book series and its hit TV show adaptation. The studio launched Invincible: Guarding the Globe, a free-to-play idle RPG, on Monday. The game is now playable on iOS and Android devices and is also available on the Amazon store. Epic Games has announced that Fortnite will be coming back to iOS devices. Taking to social media platform X (formally Twitter), the studio revealed that Fortnite will be available on iOS through the Epic Games Store later this year. This will only be the case for iOS users in the EU, however.

Death Stranding, Hideo Kojima's surreal package delivery title that first launched as a PlayStation exclusive in 2019 and later ported to PC, has a new release date on Apple devices. The Director's Cut version of the game is arriving January 30 on iPhone, iPad and Mac, with pre-orders currently open, 505 Games announced Tuesday. The studio, which was also responsible for the PC port, will bring the Kojima Productions' title to compatible apple devices. These include the A17 Pro-powered iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPad and macOS devices running on M1 chip or later. Death Standing was first announced for Apple platforms at the company's WWDC event in June last year, where Kojima showed off Mac gameplay and promised support for future titles.

The US Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to hear a challenge by Apple to a lower court's decision requiring changes to certain rules in its lucrative App Store, as the justices shunned the lengthy legal battle between the iPhone maker and Epic Games, maker of the popular video game Fortnite.

Apple has revealed the year-end charts for the most popular apps and games on the App Store in over 35 countries and regions. Consequently, the iPhone maker has announced the most downloaded apps and games of 2023 in India, as well. Unsurprisingly, WhatsApp has emerged as the top free iPhone app, while the DSLR Camera app, which provides users professional-grade camera controls, is the top paid iPhone app of the year. Microsoft has reportedly been developing an Xbox mobile storefront that would allow users to bypass Apple's App Store and Google's Play Store and download games off its own application. With rising pressure from European regulations, Apple might allow users to sideload apps on their iPhones next year. If you are unfamiliar, sideloading refers to downloading apps from outside Apple's stock App Store, giving users more options while compromising security. Prominent industry analyst Mark Gurman claims that Apple could allow app sideloading in the first half of 2024. Apple has finally caved to the Digital Markets Act, or DMA, and expects to bring some changes to the App Store policies to comply with the EU’s new ruling. Capcom quietly revealed how much Resident Evil 4 Remake for iPhone 15 Pro will cost, with the mobile-centric version retailing for $60.

Listings for Resident Evil 4 remake's iOS and iPadOS ports have gone live, showing a placeholder date of December 31. However, the mobile version is rather expensive, costing Rs. 3,599, matching the same default price tag as the mainline PC port. The game will be available with support for Universal Purchase, meaning the same app can be accessed across other Apple products you own, including the Mac. Similar to other Capcom titles, players will be granted a free trial/ demo before being asked to purchase the game for full content, hence it says ‘Free' download on the App Store page.

Apple launched the highly anticipated iPhone 15 series at its Wonderlust event on September 12.
