Europe's new rules for Google, Facebook, TikTok and others about to kick in. Here's how they work

WhatsApp is reportedly getting a new feature, but it is not what it wanted to build. In fact, WhatsApp was quite against it. Interoperability, or cross-platform interaction has been one of the major talking points for the European Union's new Digital Markets Act (DMA) which is pushing to quash ecosystem lock-in and anti-competitive behavior. Earlier this month, the EU confirmed that Meta's instant messaging platform falls under the category of ‘gatekeeper' and must comply with the obligations of the new guidelines. Soon after, a new report highlighted that WhatsApp has begun working on a cross-platform messaging feature called ‘third-party chats'. This will enable users to text anyone on any other messaging app directly.

A new series of smartphones launched by China's Huawei Technologies has drawn global attention for containing technology that indicates the company has managed to overcome U.S. sanctions and could come back as a rival to Apple In late August, the company unveiled the Mate 60 and Mate 60 Pro, and on Friday launched two more smartphones, the Mate X5 which is a new version of its foldable phones, and the Mate 60 Pro . The Mate 60 is priced from 5,999 yuan ($817.70), the same as Apple's iPhone 14 in China.

Early access action RPG Last Epoch has just received update 0.9.2, which adds a new class of mage called the Runemaster. The Runemaster has five new spells they can use to tear through the game's monsters, and each spell can be customised via its own skill tree.

Earth, Mars, Luna, and more familiar celestial bodies are present in Starfield and can be freely explored. That said, Earth isn’t in the same state as we know it today, as only a few of humanity’s greatest monuments have stood the test of time.

The Little Nightmares franchise has always felt like it would be a perfect fit for co-op, given the fact that both games so far have put the spotlight on two core characters each, and though the series has remained exclusively single player so far, the recently-announced Little Nightmares 3 will be changing that- with a significant caveat though.

Meta is reportedly considering a new paid tier of Facebook and Instagram for users in the EU which would allow those customers to use the social networks without seeing any advertisements.

It’s impressive when someone manages to create a beloved game experience on their own; or at the very least with a small team. Such was the case with Stardew Valley , and its developer Eric Barone, also known by the pseudonym “ConcernedApe.” What’s even more impressive than that, though, is how that experience was converted into a highly coveted board game. While Stardew Valley: The Board Game was available for a limited run, it’s coming back very soon.
