Nintendo Switch 2 Will be Announced in March – Rumour

Biomutant will be released for Nintendo Switch on May 14, 2024, THQ Nordic has announced.

Nintendo is said to have delayed the launch of its next-generation console, the successor to the Nintendo Switch. Reports last week claimed that the company was advising game publishers that the Nintendo Switch 2 would be delayed until the early months of 2025. A new report now claims that the Switch successor will be released in March 2025. The Nintendo Switch is now almost seven years old, and a follow-up console was initially expected to launch later this year in the holiday season.

Though it was widely believed for some time that the Nintendo Switch 2 would be releasing sometime in the second half of 2024, that’s now looking quite unlikely. Multiple recent reports have claimed that Nintendo has internally delayed the launch of its next console to the first quarter of 2025, and that’s now being corroborated by another source.

This week on the Eurogamer Newscast, we discuss the reports that Nintendo Switch 2 will now launch in 2025, later than its previously-expected arrival towards the end of this year.

Released in 2017, Nintendo Switch is still as popular today as it was years ago. The hybrid handheld console has seen dozens of high-profile game throughout its lifespan, and it shows no signs of slowing down. Part of what makes the device so compelling is the ability to play in both handheld or docked mode — allowing you to project your game onto the big screen when you get home from work or school.

For over a month, leaks were claiming that among other first-party Microsoft titles, Hi-Fi Rush was set to be announced for Nintendo Switch and PS5, and though a multiplatform release was recently officially confirmed for the acclaimed rhythm action title, it was only confirmed for PS5.

Video gamers are almost “trained” to look for “tiny details” about things they see or hear within trailers, reveals, and even the games themselves. After all, Easter Eggs are everywhere, and sometimes, the smallest details can reveal certain things about the project itself. It’s true that sometimes gamers get a bit TOO invested in the small details and make false assumptions, but regarding the latest Nintendo Direct, some fans feel they’ve seen their first tease about the Switch successor, and it’s not where you think it might be. In this case, it wasn’t about the games that were shown but the animations of the Direct itself.

Nintendo Switch owners who are looking for their next game to play may want to consider the already popular Super Mario Bros. Wonder, especially now that it’s on sale from Amazon at 13% off. From its original price of $60, it’s down to a more affordable $52. The $8 in savings may not look like much, but you may as well enjoy it as it’s rare to get a discount on a first-party Nintendo Switch exclusive just a few months after its release. We’re not sure when the offer will expire though, so you’re going to have to hurry if you want to get the game for cheaper than usual.

A brand new Endless Ocean game, Endless Ocean Luminous, has been revealed for Nintendo Switch, and players will be able to dive in from May. 

Recent reports have claimed that Nintendo has delayed the launch of its next-gen console out of 2024 and into Q1 of 2025, which, if true, would also likely mean that plans for when to announce the console have changed as well.
